Sichuan Normal University

Sichuan Normal University is a full-time comprehensive provincial key university organized by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. It is the earliest university in Sichuan Province to offer undergraduate normal education and the university with the longest history of normal education.

Sichuan Normal University is a key university in Sichuan Province, one of the first batch of universities implementing the "Basic Capacity Construction Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China" and a national demonstration school for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. It is the earliest university in Sichuan Province to offer undergraduate normal education and the university with the longest history of normal education. The school is located in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, and currently has two campuses, the Lion Mountain Campus and the Jackie Chan Campus.

It has a long history of running schools. The school was founded in 1946, and its birth has a direct historical origin with Northeastern University. In the early days of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved to Santai County, Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang, and the teachers and students who stayed in Sichuan founded the Private North Sichuan Agricultural and Industrial College on the original site. In 1949, the school absorbed Xishan Academy and was renamed Private North Sichuan University. In 1950, the school merged with the Private North Sichuan College of Arts to form the Public North Sichuan University, which moved to Nanchong City, Sichuan Province and was renamed North Sichuan University. In 1952, with North Sichuan University as the main body, it merged some majors of East Sichuan Education College (formerly China Rural Construction College), Sichuan University and West China University to form Sichuan Normal College. In 1953, some teachers and students from the former Chongqing Normal College entered Sichuan Normal College. In 1956, the undergraduate majors of Sichuan Normal College moved to Lion Mountain in Chengdu. In 1964, the three departments of mathematics, physics and chemistry of the former Chengdu University (now Southwestern University of Finance and Economics) were merged into our school. In 1985, with the approval of the State Education Commission, Sichuan Normal College was renamed Sichuan Normal University. In 1999, the former Chengdu Coal Cadre Management College of the Ministry of Coal was integrated into our school.

Complete disciplines. The school is the first batch of master's degree authorization units in the country and the tenth batch of doctoral authorization units. It has eleven disciplines including literature, science, engineering, philosophy, economics, management, law, history, education, art, and agriculture. There are 2 postdoctoral mobile stations, 7 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees (Chinese language and literature, education, mathematics, psychology, Chinese history, physics, chemistry), 26 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 14 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 79 undergraduate majors, including 4 provincial key discipline construction projects, 2 first-level provincial key disciplines, and 17 second-level provincial key disciplines; there are 1 key research base for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 1 key laboratory of Sichuan Province, 3 Sichuan "2011" collaborative innovation centers, 4 key research bases for philosophy and social sciences of Sichuan Province, 10 key laboratories of Sichuan universities, Sichuan country research centers, and Sichuan engineering laboratories, and a provincial university science and technology park in Sichuan Province.

The faculty is strong. Since its establishment, the school has produced a number of well-known experts, including the famous Mohist Wu Feibai, one of the founders of sociology and folklore in my country Li Anzhai, one of the founders of educational psychology in my country Liu Shaoyu, Chuci expert Tang Bingzheng, philology expert Qu Shouyuan, exegesis expert Liu Junhui, condensed matter physics expert Zhao Minguang, topology expert Liu Wangjin, and nonlinear analysis expert Ding Xieping. The school teachers have been approved as "young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to the country", "one candidate for the first and second levels of the National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project", "one leading talent in the National Ten Thousand Talents Plan", "one leading talent in science and technology entrepreneurship in the National Ten Thousand Talents Plan", "one national thousand talent plan", "one national famous teacher", "five candidates for the "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program" of the Ministry of Education, and one national propaganda, ideology and culture young talent of the Central Propaganda Department. There are 54 experts who enjoy the "Special Government Allowance of the State Council"; 134 "Sichuan Provincial Academic and Technical Leaders and Reserve Candidates", 29 "Outstanding Experts with Outstanding Contributions in Sichuan Province", 14 "Sichuan Provincial Thousand Talents Plan", 10 "Tianfu Ten Thousand Talents Plan", and 12 "Sichuan Provincial Teaching Masters"; 19 national outstanding teachers, national model teachers, national model teachers, national May 1st Labor Medal winners, national advanced workers in the education system, national outstanding educators, etc., and 43 Sichuan Provincial Outstanding Teachers, Sichuan Provincial May 1st Labor Medal winners, Sichuan Provincial Model Teachers, etc. In addition, the school has also hired more than 20 high-level talents, including academicians of the two academies, distinguished professors of the Yangtze River Scholars Program, the National "Thousand Talents Program", and the National "Outstanding Youth".

The school has achieved remarkable results in educating people. The school has built a national-level college student cultural quality education base, a provincial-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration club, and a provincial-level university science and technology park. It is a national-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training program implementation university, and has established a "school within a school" with a 33-year history - Sichuan Normal University Aesthetic Education School. The school has built 168 national-level "Quality Engineering" projects and 710 provincial-level projects, including 3 national-level excellent teacher training program projects, 23 national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 17 provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 1 national-level talent training model innovation experimental zone, a national-level experimental teaching demonstration center, a national-level teaching team, a national-level college student off-campus practice education base, a national-level education professional degree graduate joint training demonstration base, and a national-level humanities and social science popularization base. There are 20 national-level quality courses, bilingual teaching demonstration courses, quality online open courses, quality resource sharing courses, and first-class courses. There are 20 national-level planning textbooks for the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", and "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan". Students have undertaken 559 national-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects. The school has won 12 second prizes for national teaching achievements in the past three sessions, 96 Sichuan Province Teaching Achievement Awards (including 31 first prizes), 2 second prizes for national education professional degree teaching achievements, 6 national outstanding master's theses for education professional degrees, and 49 awards in the National Education Professional Degree Graduate Teaching Skills Competition in the past three years. Items (including 10 first prizes and above). Over the past 75 years, the university has trained more than 300,000 graduates of various types, represented by Li Yanrong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Tang Yong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Luo Xiangang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Guo Hong, an academician of the Royal Society of Canada. They have made due contributions to national construction in their own positions.

Fruitful scientific research results. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the school's scientific research work has achieved remarkable results and made great progress, and the overall level of scientific research has been significantly improved. A total of 279 national projects were approved, including 155 national humanities and social science projects and 124 national self-scientific fund projects; 341 provincial and ministerial projects were approved. 86 scientific achievement awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above were approved, including 2 outstanding scientific research achievements of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Education; 75 outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences of Sichuan Province; 15 Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Awards. 256 invention patents and software copyright registrations were granted, and the school's comprehensive scientific research funds totaled 780 million yuan, maintaining a continuous growth in scientific research funding.

Extensive foreign exchanges. The school is one of the foreign exchange centers of Sichuan universities and a higher education institution approved by the Ministry of Education of China to recruit overseas Chinese, students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and to accept recommended students from Macao. It is the chairman unit of the Professional Committee of Sino-foreign Cultural Exchange of Sichuan Higher Education Society. It has established extensive academic exchanges and talent training relations with 110 colleges and educational research institutions in 26 countries and regions, trained overseas students of various levels, and carried out Sino-foreign joint training projects of various levels and different countries; it has established two Confucius Institutes in Yonsei University, South Korea and Karachi University, Pakistan, and co-established a Confucius School with Pedro Middle School in Pakistan. It is a member of the "Chinese Alliance"; it has established a Global Governance and Regional Country Research Institute, which includes Southeast Asia Research Center, Japan Research Center, South Korea Research Center, South Asia Research Center, Thailand Research Center, Pakistan Research Center, etc.; it co-organized the "Chengdu Sejong School" with the headquarters of Sejong School in South Korea. The school is running two Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, co-organizing the "Product Design Undergraduate Education Project" with the European Design Institute in Italy, and co-organizing the "Painting Undergraduate Teaching Project" with Moscow State Normal University.

Strong social services. The school is an "Advanced Collective of National Unity of the State Council". It has long played its talent and technological advantages to support the development of local economy and society, especially education. It has set up Sichuan Provincial College Teacher Training Center, Sichuan Provincial College Cadre Training Center, Sichuan Provincial Branch of the National College Teacher Network Training Center of the Ministry of Education, Sichuan Provincial Teacher Qualification Certification Guidance Center, Sichuan Normal University Basic Education Curriculum Research Center of Sichuan Provincial Education Department, Sichuan Normal University Training Center for Sichuan Provincial Teacher Continuing Education, Sichuan Coal Mine Safety Technology Training Center, and the first national China Youth Volunteer Poverty Alleviation Relay Program Graduate Teaching Team Training Base and other provincial training and research institutions. It has long-term targeted assistance to Litang County, Ganzi Prefecture, and Puge County, Liangshan Prefecture, counterpart support to Xichang National Preschool College, and paired assistance to Aba Normal University and Sichuan University of Arts and Sciences.

In 2017, the school took the lead in establishing the C5 Education Precision Poverty Alleviation Alliance; in 2020, the school established the "Sichuan Rural Revitalization College" (headquarters), and successively established the Sichuan Rural Revitalization College (branch) in Yilong County, Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, Cangxi County, Dachuan District, Bazhong City, Enyang District, Puge County, Litang County, Liangshan Prefecture, Mianzhu City, Suining City, Yuechi County, Nanbu County and other regions to help with precision poverty alleviation and revitalize rural development.

Sichuan Normal University is rooted in the land of Bashu to run a university and serve the new strategy of governing Sichuan and revitalizing Sichuan.
