Tangshan College is located in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, the cradle of modern Chinese industry and known as the "Jingdong Treasure Land". It is a public full-time general undergraduate college with engineering as its main discipline and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art. Founded in 1956, the school was formerly Tangshan Industrial Night University established in the former Tangshan Railway Institute (now Southwest Jiaotong University). In 1985, Southwest Jiaotong University provided intellectual support to Tangshan and established Tangshan Branch. In 1996, the school and Southwest Jiaotong University began to jointly run undergraduate majors and have trained 8 graduates. The expert group of Southwest Jiaotong University is still playing a role today. In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Tangshan College, Tangshan Branch of Southwest Jiaotong University and Tangshan Workers University were substantially merged to form Tangshan College, an undergraduate-level general college. In December 2014, with the approval of the People's Government of Hebei Province, Tangshan Branch of Hebei University of Science and Technology was substantially merged into Tangshan College. In 2015, with the approval of the People's Government of Tangshan City, Tangshan School of Foreign Economics and Trade was substantially merged into Tangshan College.
