North China University of Science and Technology

North China University of Technology is a provincial key backbone university with engineering and medicine as the main disciplines, science, economics, management, literature, law, art, education and other multi-disciplinary coordinated development, with doctoral and master's degree education, undergraduate education and international student education and other educational levels and categories, and a national first-class university construction university supported by the province. The school is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the former State Administration of Work Safety, the People's Government of Hebei Province and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. In the U.S. News (American University Rankings) 2021 World University Rankings, the school ranks 154th among mainland universities and 2nd among universities in Hebei Province.

The predecessor of the school, Hebei United University, was approved by the Ministry of Education in May 2010. It was formed by the strong combination of the former Hebei University of Technology and North China Coal Medical College. In February 2015, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be renamed North China University of Technology. The predecessor of Hebei University of Technology was the Mining Department of Beiyang Western Learning Hall founded in 1895. The school was established in 1958. In 1959, the Mining and Metallurgy Department of Tianjin University was incorporated as a whole. It used to use the names of Tangshan Mining and Metallurgy College, Hebei Tangshan Mining and Metallurgy College, Hebei Mining and Metallurgy College, Tangshan Engineering and Technology College, Hebei Institute of Technology, etc. The predecessor of North China Coal Medical College was Kailuan Senior Nursing Vocational School founded in 1926. It was renamed Kailuan Medical College in 1958. In 1963, Fuxin Coal Mine Health School and Tangshan Health School College were incorporated to establish Tangshan Coal Mine Medical College, and the undergraduate system began. The school was once named Hebei Medical College.

The school currently has 47,126 full-time students, including 35,387 undergraduates, 4,862 doctoral and master's students, 6,464 junior college students, 353 international students, and 60 preparatory students. The school has 19 management agencies, 30 teaching agencies, 6 teaching support agencies and 9 directly affiliated agencies. In August 2016, the school's planned domestic first-class modern smart campus with a total construction area of ​​1.0356 million square meters and a planned area of ​​4,500 acres was officially put into use. It has first-class voice classrooms, multimedia classrooms, electronic reading rooms, CAD centers, computing centers, audio-visual centers, network centers and other modern teaching facilities and equipment. The library has a construction area of ​​78,000 square meters, with 2.83 million paper books, 65 Chinese and foreign databases, and a data storage capacity of 96.5TB. By allocating resources according to subject groups, a "one-stop" subject service has been achieved. The school sponsors 5 publicly issued academic journals in natural sciences, medicine, and social sciences, which have a certain influence at home and abroad. The school has 25 affiliated hospitals and non-affiliated hospitals.
