Shijiazhuang Railway University

Shijiazhuang Railway University was formerly the Railway Engineering College of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It was founded in 1950 and was a key college of the entire army at that time. It was listed as a national key college in 1979. In 1984, it was transferred to the Ministry of Railways and renamed Shijiazhuang Railway College. In 2000, it was transferred to Hebei Province and implemented a joint construction by the central and local governments. It is a key backbone university in Hebei Province. In March 2010, it was renamed Shijiazhuang Railway University. In July 2015, it was approved as a co-constructed university by the Hebei Provincial People's Government, the National Railway Administration, and the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was listed as a first-class university and a first-class discipline construction university with key support by Hebei Province.

At present, the school has 20 colleges (departments, divisions) and 25 research institutes. There are 51 undergraduate majors, 5 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point, 2 postdoctoral mobile stations, 14 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, and 14 master's professional degree authorization points. It has 8 key disciplines in Hebei Province, 1 key development discipline in Hebei Province, and the engineering discipline has entered the top 1% of the ESI ranking in the world; it has built 2 national scientific research platforms "National Key Laboratory of Structural Mechanics Behavior and System Safety of Transportation Engineering Co-built by the Province and the Ministry", "Collaborative Innovation Center for Performance and Safety of Large Infrastructure Co-built by the Province and the Ministry"; it has built 25 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, including 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 1 key laboratory of the industry, 7 key laboratories of Hebei Province, 3 Hebei Technology Innovation Centers, 2 Hebei Collaborative Innovation Centers, and 3 Hebei Engineering Research Centers.

The school currently has nearly 1,800 faculty and staff, including more than 1,000 full-time teaching and research personnel, 246 professors and other senior professional titles, 446 associate professors and other associate senior professional titles, 116 doctoral supervisors, 630 master's supervisors, and more than 32,000 students, including more than 3,700 graduate students. There are 2 national teaching teams, 1 Huang Danian-style teacher team in national universities, 1 innovation team of the Ministry of Education, and 2 Hebei Province "Giant Plan" innovation and entrepreneurship teams; 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 973 chief scientists, winners of the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, national outstanding professional and technical talents, national teaching masters, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to the country, national candidates for the "New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project", and national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" science and technology innovation leaders and other provincial and ministerial level experts and 253 experts. In addition, more than 120 academicians of the two academies and well-known scholars have been hired as part-time professors of the school. The total value of the school's equipment is 640 million yuan, the library has more than 2 million paper books, the database scale has reached 38 databases (platforms), 48 sub-databases, and the campus network has achieved core 1000M, 1000M to buildings, and 1000M to desktops.

The school has always adhered to the school-running philosophy of quality first, connotation development, winning by characteristics, and pursuing excellence. It is committed to the teaching reform that integrates knowledge education, ability education, and quality education. It has won 1 first prize and 4 second prizes for national teaching achievements, and 80 provincial and ministerial excellent teaching achievement awards. There is 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 10 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 2 national first-class courses, 2 national college students' off-campus practical education base construction projects, and 2 national engineering practice education center construction projects. The school has obtained 1 pilot college for comprehensive reform of colleges and universities in Hebei Province, a national pilot unit for graduate course construction, 7 professional degree graduate training practice bases at the provincial level in Hebei Province, 2 demonstration professional degree graduate training practice bases at the provincial level in Hebei Province, 18 first-class undergraduate professional construction points in Hebei Province, 4 provincial off-campus practical education base construction projects for college students, and 2 provincial quality education social practice bases. The school was approved to implement the excellent engineer education and training program in 2011. In 2006, it was rated as "excellent" in the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education, and successfully passed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education in 2016.

The school has long insisted on serving the needs of major national and local projects, aiming at the forefront of science and technology, concentrating its efforts on multidisciplinary joint research, and has undertaken and completed a number of scientific research projects with major influence at home and abroad, and has achieved a number of landmark achievements with domestic leading level. In recent years, the school has hosted and undertaken more than 900 projects of various levels and types, including the National "973" Program, the "863" Program, the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China's major and key projects, the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, the National Social Science Fund's key projects, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Social Science Foundation, with a research funding of more than 1 billion yuan. It has won 280 national, military, and provincial and ministerial scientific and technological achievement awards. It has won 2 special prizes, 2 first prizes, and 9 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 second prizes in the National Natural Science Award, 1 second prize in the National Technological Invention Award, 1 China Outstanding Research Award, and 55 first prizes in provincial and ministerial natural sciences, technological inventions, scientific and technological progress, and social sciences.

The school actively promotes international exchanges and cooperation, and has established exchange and cooperation relations with more than 40 universities and research institutions in more than 30 countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Canada, Australia, Spain, Japan, and South Korea, and has carried out extensive cooperation in teaching, scientific research, cooperative training, student exchanges, and other fields. The school adheres to the principle of quality first and connotative development, steadily improves the quality of international students training, and has passed the quality certification for higher education institutions for studying in China organized by the International Department of the Ministry of Education. At present, there are international students from more than 30 countries including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Namibia, Zimbabwe, etc. studying in our school in majors such as civil engineering, mechanical and electronic engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and technology, international economics and trade, MBA and Chinese, covering undergraduate, master and doctoral levels.

The school adheres to the fine school spirit of "rigorous scholarship, courage to innovate, careful education, and ambition", and always insists on cultivating high-quality compound talents with social responsibility and innovative spirit, solid basic knowledge and strong adaptability. The implementation rate of graduates has been in the forefront of provincial key universities for many years, and has won the honorary titles of "National Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment" and "Top 50 Universities with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment". Over the past 70 years, the school has trained more than 130,000 graduates and created a large number of well-known scholars, engineering and technical experts and senior management talents.
