Baoding University

Baoding University is a full-time general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Baoding City, Hebei Province, 30 kilometers away from Xiong'an New Area, with convenient transportation, beautiful environment and good location advantages. It has won the honorary titles of National Civilized Unit, Advanced Collective of Party Building Work in Higher Education Institutions of Hebei Province, Party Building Demonstration School of Higher Education Institutions of Hebei Province, and Demonstration University of Transformation and Development in Hebei Province. In 2016, the school was listed as a pilot college of the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" Industry-Education Integration Development Project Planning Project by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Education, and ranked among the first echelon of local applied undergraduate colleges in the country.

The school has a history of more than 100 years. Its predecessor was the "Baoding Primary Normal School" founded in 1904. In 1910, it was renamed "Zhili Second Primary Normal School", and in 1928, it was renamed "Hebei Provincial Second Normal School" along with the province. In 1978, it was rebuilt into "Baoding Normal College", merged with Baoding Education College in 1998, Hebei Baoding Normal School was incorporated in 1999, and upgraded to Baoding College in 2007.

The school has a glorious revolutionary tradition and has trained a large number of outstanding talents for China's revolution and construction. There are more than 60 leading cadres at the provincial and military level, as well as a group of celebrities in education, science and technology, and culture. Shi Changxu, winner of the 2010 National Highest Science and Technology Award, academician of the two academies, former vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Heshou, former second secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Tie Ying, former first secretary of the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee, Yang Shijie, former deputy minister of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zang Boping, former deputy minister of the Ministry of Education, Liang Bin, a famous writer, and Ding Haochuan, former president of Northeast Normal University, are outstanding representatives among them. At present, the school graduates have become the backbone of various industries such as Baoding's basic education, and have made important contributions to local education and economic and social development.

The campus covers an area of ​​920.2 acres and a building area of ​​343,900 square meters. There are 9 types of laboratories, including biological experimental center, chemical experimental center, physical and electronic engineering experimental center, teacher education experimental center, resource and environment laboratory, information technology laboratory, mathematics and computer laboratory, foreign language laboratory, public computer room, etc., and 89 various training rooms. The total value of teaching equipment with a unit price of more than 1,000 yuan is 147.7981 million yuan. A data center based on off-site active-active storage has been built, and the campus 10G backbone network has achieved wired and wireless dual network coverage. The library has more than 1.442 million paper documents, more than 4.31 million digital resources, and more than 1,200 journals. It has more than 10,000 thread-bound ancient books such as the "Twenty-Four Histories" printed during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, including 16 rare books, and 3 of them were selected into the first batch of precious ancient books in Hebei Province. There are more than a thousand precious photocopied materials such as Shenbao and Ta Kung Pao from its founding to before the founding of the People's Republic of China. The library currently has 19 full-text databases such as CNKI Academic Literature Database and VIP Science and Technology Journal Database.

The school currently has 15,453 full-time students. There are 999 faculty members (609 full-time teachers), including 96 senior professional titles and 271 associate senior professional titles; 2 doctoral supervisors and 3 master supervisors. There is 1 national model teacher, 1 expert enjoying special allowance from the State Council, 1 national candidate for the "Hundred Thousand Talents Project" in the new century, 2 experts enjoying special allowances from the provincial government, 1 provincial advanced worker, 1 first-level candidate for the provincial "Three Three Three" talent project, 2 provincial outstanding experts in social sciences, 2 provincial model teachers, 2 provincial teaching masters, 5 provincial model teachers, 6 provincial outstanding teachers, and 5 provincial "three-education" advanced individuals. Wang Zikun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Cao Aocheng, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, were hired as distinguished professors. 95 experts and scholars from well-known universities and research institutes such as Peking University, Beijing Normal University, and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences were invited as visiting professors.

The course "Art Education" was successfully selected as the first batch of national online open courses. There are 3 provincial key development disciplines, 1 national boutique course, 3 provincial boutique courses, 2 provincial boutique resource sharing courses, 7 first-class undergraduate courses in Hebei Province, 1 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot project, and 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. There are 8 national-level industry-education integration platforms such as the "Baoding College Modern Training Center". It has carried out in-depth cooperation with more than 130 enterprises. The "Water-Rich Xiong'an" cultural website, which was built with the backbone forces, was listed as one of the eight major projects of Xiong'an Ideological and Cultural.

The school attaches great importance to scientific research. In recent years, it has undertaken 5 national projects, 79 provincial and ministerial projects, established 19 scientific research teams, 9 achievements have won provincial and ministerial awards, and 18 achievements have won municipal and departmental awards.

The school attaches great importance to the comprehensive quality training of students. Through the college students' science, culture and art festivals, club activities, social practice, volunteer services and other carriers, it creates a rich, elegant and positive campus cultural atmosphere for students to grow and become talents. In the fourth and fifth national college students' art performances, it won 1 first prize, 7 second prizes and 3 third prizes, and the number of awards ranked first in the province. The school has won the "National College Students' Art Performance Excellent Organization Award" for four consecutive sessions. The original one-act drama "Cai Hesen's Buri Dream" was selected for the 2014 National Art Fund Project. The school actively carries out foreign academic exchanges and cooperation, and has established long-term friendly cooperation relations with more than 20 foreign institutions, including the University of New South Wales in Australia, Eastern Kentucky University in the United States, University of Malaya in Malaysia, and Sapporo International University in Japan. More than 100 students have gone to foreign institutions for exchange studies or to study for degrees, more than ten key teachers have been sent to overseas universities for visiting studies or to study for doctoral degrees, and more than 20 teachers and students have been selected by the National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language to teach Chinese in the United States, Ghana, Samoa, Thailand, and the Philippines. In 2015, commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, our school choir represented the country in the 4th Estonian Pop Music Chorus Festival. In 2018, two groups of international students from the United States came to the school to study professional courses and Chinese culture. In 2020, we jointly built the first "HSK Study in China Base" in the country with Hankao International to recruit international students. At present, nearly 300 Japanese students have been trained online in two sessions, which have been well received by project partners and trainees.

The school adheres to the principle of cultivating morality and educating people, creates a moral education model of "three-in-one, educating people with culture", implements the "seven major education projects", and forms a long-term mechanism of circular upward and cultural education. Since 2000, in line with the major strategic deployment of the Party and the country, 287 graduates of the school have taken root in the western region and made positive contributions to the stability of the border areas, social development and national unity and progress. On the eve of the May 4th Youth Day in 2014, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, wrote back to the representatives of the group of graduates of Baoding College who taught in the western region, which aroused strong social repercussions.
