Hebei University of Science and Technology

Hebei University of Science and Technology is located in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, covering an area of ​​2,760 acres. It was formed by the merger of the former Hebei Institute of Light Industry and Chemical Engineering, Hebei Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Hebei Textile Workers University, and Hebei Textile Industry School. In 1956, higher education was held. In the course of many years of schooling, the school has always adhered to the school motto of "committed to the all-round development of people, serving regional economic construction and social progress", adhering to the school motto of "prosperity and responsibility" and the spirit of "enterprising, collaborative, and dedicated", and has trained more than 300,000 outstanding graduates for the country. The school is one of the first batch of multi-disciplinary backbone universities in Hebei Province, a university jointly built by the Hebei Provincial People's Government and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, a national first-class university construction university supported by Hebei Province, and a university in the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. Approved to become a doctoral degree-granting institution in 2021.

The school has 21 teaching colleges (departments) and 80 undergraduate majors, covering nine categories: engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law, medicine, education, and art. There are currently 9 provincial key disciplines, 1 provincial key development discipline, 1 discipline selected as a world-class discipline construction project in Hebei Province, and 2 disciplines selected as a national first-class discipline construction project in Hebei Province. Engineering and chemistry disciplines are in the top 1% of the ESI world ranking. It has 1 first-level discipline authorized for doctoral degrees, 28 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, and 16 master's professional degree authorization categories. The school currently has more than 23,000 full-time undergraduates, graduate students, and international students, more than 2,400 faculty and staff, 5 specially appointed Chinese and foreign academicians, 2 national candidates for the New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project, more than 150 high-level talents such as experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council and provincial high-end talents, 2 national outstanding teachers, and 15 provincial teaching masters.

The school has won 1 second prize for national teaching achievements, 66 provincial teaching achievement awards, and 29 national "undergraduate teaching quality and teaching reform projects". 5 majors were selected as pilot majors for the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program", 6 majors passed the China Engineering Education Professional Certification, 8 majors were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 25 majors were selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. 1 course was recognized as a national first-class undergraduate course, 1 course was rated as a national boutique online open course, and 43 courses were recognized as provincial first-class undergraduate courses. In the 2020 National University Subject Competition Rankings, it ranked 77th in the country and 2nd in Hebei Province. The school was rated as a national typical experience university for innovation and entrepreneurship, and a national demonstration university for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform. The undergraduate graduate destination implementation rate ranks among the top provincial universities, and has cultivated outstanding alumni such as Han Buxing and Chen Guang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ren Hongqiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. It has been selected as one of the top 100 universities in the Chinese University Rich Alumni Ranking for many years.

The school has won 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 first prize of the Military Science and Technology Progress Award, and 1 second prize of the National Higher Education Institutions Technology Invention Award. It has won more than 210 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, including 15 first prizes and 65 second prizes. It has obtained more than 2,500 patents of various types and published more than 1,200 books. It has established scientific and technological education cooperation with 370 local governments, industry organizations, enterprises and institutions. As a construction unit, the school has 26 provincial and ministerial science and technology innovation platforms, joined 3 national industrial technology innovation alliances and 5 provincial industrial technology innovation strategic alliances. The school was approved as a "National Technology Transfer Demonstration Institution" and ranked 98th in the country and 4th in Hebei Province in the 2019 Shanghai Ranking of National University Achievement Transformation, and ranked 92nd in the country and 2nd in Hebei Province in the National Science and Technology Service Ranking. In 2018, the school was selected into the "Nature Index" list of the top 200 universities in mainland China. "Journal of Hebei University of Science and Technology" was included in Peking University's "Overview of Chinese Core Journals".

The school has carried out exchanges and cooperation with 109 universities and research institutions in 24 countries. It currently has the Australian University School of Information Engineering (with 4 computer information majors) and 5 Sino-foreign cooperative education majors, including clothing and apparel design, product design, metal materials engineering, environmental science, and industrial design engineering. There are 15 majors taught entirely in English, recruiting international students from more than 40 countries (regions). The first Korean Sejong Academy in Hebei Province is located in our school. It ranks 99th among universities in the country in the university internationalization level ranking (2017URI). It has been approved for 21 projects including the Ministry of Science and Technology's International Science and Technology Cooperation Project, Hebei Province's Hundred Foreign Experts Program, and International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, and has been awarded the title of "Top Ten Units for Attracting Talents and Intelligence in Hebei Province".
