Hebei Science & Technology Normal University

Hebei University of Science and Technology is a provincial general higher education institution with the right to confer master's degrees. It is located in the coastal tourist city of Qinhuangdao. The school was founded in 1941, began to provide higher education in 1975, began to recruit undergraduate students in 1977, and obtained the right to confer master's degrees in 2006. The school is the first batch of national key construction vocational teacher training bases of the Ministry of Education, the national-level science and technology commissioner entrepreneurship training base of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the modern agricultural technology training base of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the first batch of national science popularization education bases of the China Association for Science and Technology. It is the first batch of undergraduate colleges in Hebei Province Transformation and Development Demonstration Colleges and Hebei Province Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Demonstration Colleges.

The school currently has three campuses in Qinhuangdao, Changli and Development Zone, covering an area of ​​950,000 square meters (1,424 acres), a building area of ​​415,000 square meters, teaching and research equipment with a total value of 243 million yuan, 1.837 million books and documents, 2.453 million electronic books, 424 Chinese and foreign paper journals, and 33 databases of various types. There is a nationally certified electronic biological specimen museum and an affiliated vocational middle school.

The school has 20 secondary teaching units including the Graduate Department, the College of Animal Science and Technology, the College of Agronomy and Biotechnology, the College of Horticulture Science and Technology, the College of Marine Resources and Environment, the College of Urban Construction, the College of Chemical Engineering, the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the College of Food Science and Technology, the College of Business Administration, the College of Mathematics and Information Technology, the College of Finance and Economics, the College of Foreign Languages, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Education, the College of Arts, the Department of Physics, the College of Physical Education and Health, the College of Marxism, and the College of Continuing Education. There are more than 21,000 full-time undergraduates and 905 postgraduate students of various types. There are 1,665 faculty members, 933 full-time teachers with master's degrees or above, including 251 teachers with doctoral degrees; 480 teachers with senior professional titles, including 148 professors; and 524 "dual-qualified and dual-capable" teachers. A total of 110 people have been awarded provincial and above expert titles such as "Provincial Excellent Expert" and "Government Special Allowance Expert", and there are 31 members of the Ministry of Education and Hebei Provincial Teaching Steering Committee.

The school currently has 7 provincial key disciplines and key development disciplines, with 7 first-level disciplines authorized to grant academic degrees, including biology, horticulture, chemistry, food science and engineering, animal husbandry, education, and marine science, and 19 second-level disciplines authorized to grant academic degrees; it has 6 professional degrees and 17 authorized fields, including Master of Agriculture, Master of Education, Master of Veterinary Medicine, Master of Machinery, Master of Sports, and Master of Arts. There are 6 provincial graduate demonstration courses, 13 provincial graduate case library construction projects, and 4 provincial graduate practice bases, of which 2 are provincial excellent graduate demonstration bases. The school has 75 undergraduate majors, covering 9 major disciplines including agriculture, education, engineering, science, literature, law, economics, management, and art. It has 1 national professional comprehensive reform pilot major, 20 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, 3 provincial undergraduate education innovation highlands, and 6 provincial brand specialty majors; there are 2 national first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national quality course, 3 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, 8 provincial quality courses, and 6 provincial quality online open courses. It has won 2 national teaching achievement awards and 43 provincial teaching achievement awards (including 7 first prizes). It has been approved for 2 national new agricultural science projects and the first batch of excellent agricultural and forestry talent education and training plan reform pilot projects of the Ministry of Education, and has built a national modern industrial college.

The university has built a national science and technology basic conditions platform - domestic animal germplasm resource platform, chestnut industry technology engineering research center of the Ministry of Education and 6 provincial key laboratories, 8 provincial technology innovation centers, 8 provincial industrial technology research institutes, 8 provincial industrial technology innovation strategic alliances, 1 provincial collaborative innovation center, 6 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 provincial engineering research center and Hebei Province College Horticultural Crop Breeding Application Technology R&D Center, Hebei Vocational Education Research Base, Hebei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Base, Jidong Culture Research Center, 18 municipal key laboratories (engineering technology research centers) and Qinhuangdao Economic and Social Development Research Center, Qinhuangdao Hanhai International Language Landscape Research Center, Qinhuangdao Local Legislation Research and Consulting Base, etc.

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has undertaken and completed 1,657 scientific research projects of various levels and types, including 518 national and provincial and ministerial projects; published 429 high-level academic papers and 198 academic works; obtained a total of 126 million yuan in external scientific research funds; won 40 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, including 2 provincial first prizes; obtained 9 new plant variety rights, 184 authorized patents, including 97 invention patents, and 121 software copyrights.

The school has a provincial science and technology commissioner studio, a provincial technology transfer center, and 10 of the first batch of agricultural expert workstations in Qinhuangdao City, and has built 32 demonstration bases for industry-university-research cooperation. Three science and technology service teams were awarded the title of "Hebei Province College Li Baoguo-style Science and Technology Service Team", one person was awarded the title of "Hebei Province Li Baoguo-style Science and Education Poverty Alleviation Outstanding Contributor", one person was awarded the title of "Hebei Province Poverty Alleviation Advanced Individual", and one person was awarded the "Hebei Province Poverty Alleviation Award Innovation Award".

The school has established scientific and technological education cooperation with nearly 30 foreign universities and research institutions, and is a member of the Hebei Confucius Institute Alliance, the China-West University Alliance, and the China-Finland University of Applied Sciences Alliance. It has won many honorary titles such as "Advanced Collective for International Exchange and Cooperation in Education and Culture in Hebei Province" and "Advanced Unit for Introducing Foreign Intelligence in Hebei Province". It has programs such as the Sino-US and Sino-Finnish "121" exchange student dual degree, the China-Australia "312" undergraduate to master's degree, and the Italian free exchange student program. In cooperation with the University for Foreigners of Perugia, Italy, it has established an Italian language training and testing center.

In the past five years, students have won 936 provincial and above awards in the National College Students' "Challenge Cup" Competition, Humanities Quality Competition, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and various subject competitions, including 311 national awards. The implementation rate of graduates' graduation destinations is stable at more than 90%, and the average admission rate for postgraduate entrance examinations (including civil servants and selected students) is more than 16%. A large number of outstanding talents have emerged among the graduates, including national model workers, national May 1st Labor Medal winners, National Science and Technology Progress Award winners, national outstanding educators, one of the top 100 outstanding county party secretaries in the country, winners of the Governor's Special Award, and winners of the Provincial Outstanding Contribution Award.
