School of Petrochemical Engineering, Changzhou University

The School of Petrochemical Engineering and the School of Food Science have become the backbone of the school with the establishment, development and growth of the school.

There are five undergraduate majors: Chemical Engineering and Technology, Applied Chemistry, Food Quality and Safety, Energy Chemical Engineering, and Resource Recycling Science and Engineering. Among them, Chemical Engineering and Technology is a national first-class undergraduate major construction point, a national first-class specialty major, and a Jiangsu Province brand major; Energy Chemical Engineering is a national first-class undergraduate major construction point; Applied Chemistry is a Jiangsu Province brand major.

There are two first-level master's degree programs in Chemical Engineering and Technology and Chemistry, and a master's degree program in Materials and Chemical Engineering; Chemical Engineering and Technology is a Jiangsu Province advantage discipline, and Chemistry is a Jiangsu Province "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" key discipline.

The college has 3 national platforms: National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Efficient Refining and High-Quality Utilization of Biomass, Modern Chemical Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Chemical Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center; 8 provincial platforms: Jiangsu Advanced Catalysis and Green Manufacturing Collaborative Innovation Center, Jiangsu Fine Petrochemical Key Laboratory, Jiangsu Green Catalytic Materials and Technology Key Laboratory, Key Laboratory of Organic Catalysis of Pharmaceutical Chemical Intermediates in Petroleum and Chemical Industry, Jiangsu Biomass Refining Engineering Laboratory, Jiangsu Basic Chemistry and Chemical Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Jiangsu Modern Basic Chemical Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, Chemistry and Chemical Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Sharing Platform.

The college has formed a teaching staff with high moral character, rich teaching experience, high academic qualifications and strong scientific research ability. There are 160 faculty members in the college, including more than 130 full-time teachers, including more than 90 associate senior titles or above (including more than 50 professors); the proportion of teachers with overseas training experience exceeds 40%, and 125 teachers have doctoral degrees. Among the full-time teachers, there are 4 recipients of the State Council Special Allowance, 1 national talent, 1 "New Century Excellent Talent of the Ministry of Education", 2 Jiangsu Province 333 Project (second level), 2 Jiangsu Province "Double Creation" talents, 1 provincial outstanding young scholar, 1 provincial teaching master, 1 provincial distinguished professor, 5 Jiangsu Province Excellent Teaching Teams, and 4 Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Innovation Teams. At present, the college has more than 1,380 undergraduate students and more than 700 master students.

The college has advanced analytical and testing instruments such as 500M nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, high-resolution transmission electron microscope, field emission scanning electron microscope, X-ray powder diffractometer, X-ray single crystal diffractometer, X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, high-resolution mass spectrometer, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer, Raman spectrometer, Haake torque rheometer, intelligent weight analyzer, etc., as well as more than 50 sets of independently developed experimental devices and comprehensive experimental training platforms with multifunctionality, integration, automation and pilot scale, such as DCS-controlled fluid flow-transport machinery-heat transfer comprehensive experimental platform, DCS-controlled packing distillation tower, and visual pilot-scale organic synthesis device.

In recent years, the institute has undertaken hundreds of projects at the provincial and ministerial levels or above, including two key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 50 youth funds of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; the average annual research funds received are more than 40 million yuan; more than 450 invention patents have been authorized; more than 1,000 papers have been published; and dozens of scientific and technological progress awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above have been won, including two second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, three first prizes of the Jiangsu Science and Technology Progress Award, two first prizes of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association Science and Technology Progress Award, and one first prize of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation Technological Invention Award.
