Hohai University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education with a history of more than 100 years, featuring water conservancy, engineering as the main discipline, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It is a university that implements the national "211 Project" key construction, the construction of national advantageous discipline innovation platform, the construction of first-class disciplines, and the establishment of a graduate school. Hohai University Changzhou Campus is located in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou economically developed area of ​​Jiangsu Province, located in the Changzhou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, "a place for thousands of years of reading, a modern innovation city", and adjacent to the Changzhou Administrative Center. The predecessor of Changzhou Campus was the Mechanical College of Hohai University established in 1986. It was renamed Hohai University Changzhou Branch in May 1996 and Hohai University Changzhou Campus in June 2000. It is an important part of the school-running pattern of Hohai University "one school, two locations (Nanjing City, Changzhou City), three campuses (Xikang Road Campus, Jiangning Campus and Changzhou Campus)".

Changzhou Campus covers an area of ​​436 acres, with 590 faculty and staff, 5022 undergraduate students, 845 graduate students, 366 minority students and 30 foreign graduate students. At present, the teaching and research units stationed on campus include the School of Internet of Things Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and some majors of the Business School of the School of Information Science; the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education for Dredging Technology, the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Power Transmission and Distribution Equipment Technology, and the Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of Special Robot Technology and other scientific and technological platforms. There are 2 second-level doctoral programs in hydraulic machinery and Internet of Things technology and application, 1 first-level master's program in mechanical engineering, 7 second-level master's programs in materials processing engineering, communication and information systems, low-carbon economy, 4 professional master's degree authorization points in mechanical engineering, electronic and communication engineering, computer technology, industrial design engineering, and 15 undergraduate majors such as mechanical engineering, robotics engineering, Internet of Things engineering, and big data application and analysis.

Hohai University has been running schools in Changzhou for more than 30 years.
