The school was founded in 1951. It is a key construction university in Shandong Province with outstanding engineering advantages, distinctive industry characteristics, and a multi-disciplinary interpenetration and coordinated development of engineering, science, management, literature, law, economics, and art. It is a famous university with a focus on the cultivation of applied basic talents and a high-level university "rushing to the first-class" construction university.

It is located in Qingdao, Tai'an, and Jinan, with a total area of ​​more than 3,500 acres, a building area of ​​1.38 million square meters, a total fixed asset value of 3 billion yuan, and a total value of 800 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment. The school has 33 teaching units and 5 scientific research units. There are 9 postdoctoral research mobile stations, 10 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 31 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, 19 master's professional degree categories, and 97 undergraduate majors.
