Taishan College

Taishan University began to offer higher education in September 1958, and its history can be traced back to the Tai'an Prefecture Government Normal School founded in 1905. In March 2002, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of undergraduate education, and in September 2012, it was transformed into a "province-city co-construction, province-based" management system. The school is one of the 19 provincial teacher education bases in Shandong Province, and one of the first nine universities in Shandong Province that are qualified to recruit public-funded normal students. In November 2012, the university passed the undergraduate teaching qualification evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2017, it was approved as a master's degree granting project construction unit. In 2018, it established the development goal of building a high-level applied university with teacher education as its distinctive feature. In 2019, it successfully completed the inspection of the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation expert group of the Ministry of Education. In 2021, it was successfully selected as the first batch of supporting units for the construction of applied undergraduate universities in Shandong Province. There are currently 3 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 10 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 2 majors have passed the second-level certification of normal undergraduate majors.

The school currently has two campuses, south and north, covering an area of ​​1,378 acres and a building area of ​​540,000 square meters. It has the first library of the former party and state leaders in colleges and universities-Wanli Library. There are 15 secondary colleges and 66 undergraduate majors, covering 9 major disciplines such as literature, science, engineering, history, education, and management. Enrollment is open to 27 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country, with 18,000 full-time ordinary students. There are 1,456 faculty members, including more than 1,100 full-time teachers and more than 450 senior professional titles. There are 33 high-level talents such as national leading talents, teaching masters, national model teachers, experts with special government allowances from the State Council, Taishan scholars, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in the province, and provincial teaching masters, 7 provincial youth innovation teams, and 2 provincial college Huang Danian-style teacher teams.

The school has always been committed to the construction of a high-level applied university. It has successively built 10 provincial science and technology innovation platforms such as provincial key disciplines and key laboratories, 1 academician workstation, 12 school-level key disciplines, and 22 school-level advantageous disciplines. Since 2002, it has successively obtained 68 national projects, including 51 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 369 provincial and ministerial projects. Since the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", it has undertaken 32 national scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation. Teachers and students have successively won 344 national awards and more than 1,300 provincial awards in competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" National College Student Science and Technology Innovation Competition. Actively promote school-enterprise cooperation, with 17 cooperative majors (directions). Focusing on regional industrial needs, adhering to the "T"-shaped industrial college construction concept, building 6 industrial colleges closely integrated with leading enterprises, with the participation of government, industry and other enterprises, and the Artificial Intelligence Industry College was approved as a provincial modern industrial college.

The school has always adhered to teaching as the center and actively participated in major projects of the transformation of new and old kinetic energy in the province and city. There is currently 1 comprehensive reform pilot major of the Ministry of Education, 1 national college English teaching reform demonstration project, 1 talent training simulation innovation experimental zone in Shandong Province, 3 provincial excellent engineer education and training plan projects, and 4 provincial high-level application-oriented project construction majors (groups). There are 39 provincial-level boutique courses, 13 provincial-level first-class courses, 2 provincial ideological and political "gold courses", and 62 courses approved as provincial alliance online courses. Formulate and implement the Tai'an Service Action Plan, vigorously carry out applied research and industry-university-research cooperation, and form obvious advantages in regional tourism planning, tourism management talent training, basic education teacher training, primary and secondary school internship teaching, small and medium-sized enterprise management personnel training, environmental monitoring and analysis, etc., and make positive contributions to regional economic and social development.

The school has always attached great importance to establishing an internationalized school-running concept. It has established cooperative relations or cooperation intentions with more than 20 universities in the United Kingdom, Canada, Spain, the United States and other countries. It began to recruit foreign students in 1995, was named as one of the first Chinese language education bases in the country by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council in 1999, and began to hold Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in 2014. Inter-school cooperation represented by the "3+1" project has opened up overseas channels for students to continue their studies, and students' long-term and short-term study and exchange programs abroad have achieved good results.
