Gannan Medical University

Gannan Medical University is located in Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, a famous revolutionary base. It is a full-time general higher medical undergraduate college organized by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province. Professor Han Jisheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serves as the honorary dean. The predecessor of the school was the Jiangxi Provincial Ganxian Advanced Midwifery Vocational School founded in 1941. In 1958, the Gannan Medical College was established as a college. In 1988, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Gannan Medical College. In 2013, it was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as a master's degree awarding institution. Since 2019, it has jointly trained doctoral students with Soochow University and China Medical University.

The school covers a total area of ​​1,873 acres and has two campuses in Huangjin and Zhanggong. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 305 million yuan. The library has a paper collection of 1.375 million books and an electronic collection of 2.3062 million books. There are 12,935 full-time students. There are 3 directly affiliated hospitals (the first affiliated hospital is one of the first 74 national clinical teaching and training demonstration centers in the country) and 7 non-directly affiliated hospitals. The school passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2007, the first batch of 13th in the country to pass the undergraduate clinical medicine certification of the Ministry of Education in 2013, passed the undergraduate teaching review and evaluation of the Ministry of Education in 2018, and passed the extension period certification of the clinical medicine major of the Ministry of Education in 2019, with the validity period extended to 9 years. As of 2020, the passing rate of the medical qualification examination for graduates of the school's clinical medicine major has been higher than the national average for 15 consecutive years.

In recent years, it has undertaken more than 170 national fund projects. There are 1 National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 Ministry of Health Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 National Science Committee Science and Technology Progress Award, 13 Provincial Natural Science Awards, 14 Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, 10 Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, and 1 Provincial Innovation Award; 191 authorized patents, including 22 invention patents and 169 utility model patents. So far, more than 90,000 health and health talents at all levels have been trained and sent to the society, becoming the health guardians of the people and making important contributions to the development of health and health. At the beginning of 2020, in response to the call, the three affiliated hospitals of the school successively selected 115 medical staff in 6 batches to go to Wuhan and Suizhou to fight the epidemic, contributing wisdom and strength to the national victory in the battle against the epidemic.

The school is a founding member of the "Belt and Road" International Medical Education Alliance. It attaches importance to foreign cooperation and exchanges, cultivates and carries out educational cooperation projects through multiple channels and methods, and actively carries out various overseas exchange projects for teachers and students such as credit recognition, student exchanges, overseas internships, and overseas visiting studies. Deepen the exchange and cooperation relationship with more than 20 universities and scientific research institutions in many countries (regions) such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The First Affiliated Hospital of Gannan Medical College has become the clinical teaching base of Lincoln Memorial University in the United States. The school has established a teacher-student training base at Lincoln Memorial University in the United States, and is a cooperative unit with the German Heart Center (Berlin). In 2005, it began to recruit international students to China. About 85% of the graduates obtained the practicing qualifications in their countries, and the training quality was well received by the source countries. In 2021, the Pakistani international students trained by the school had a 100% pass rate in the first stage of the country's practicing physician qualification examination, far exceeding the overall pass rate of 33.08% of the country's overseas graduates. In 2007, it began to send international students and graduates to countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India and the Philippines. It hosted projects such as the Sino-German Hospital Management Forum, the International Hemangioma Forum, and the Mayo Hospital Management Forum. Actively participate in foreign medical assistance work, and 7 doctors have successively gone to African countries such as Tunisia and Chad to carry out international medical assistance, which has promoted the construction of a human health community.
