East China University of Technology (formerly East China Institute of Geology), referred to as East China University of Technology, was founded in 1956. It is the first higher education institution in China's nuclear industry. It is a multi-disciplinary university with geological and nuclear science characteristics, mainly science and engineering, and economics, management, liberal arts, law, education, and art, jointly established by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and China National Nuclear Corporation. It is a pilot university of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, a university selected by the Ministry of Education's "111 Program", a university supported by the "Basic Capacity Building Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China", a "New Engineering" research and practice project and a "New Liberal Arts" research and reform practice project, a national national defense education specialty school, a national language and culture promotion base, a selection and training base for Chinese People's Navy non-commissioned officers, and a talent training base for China National Nuclear Corporation.

It is known as the "cradle of Chinese nuclear and geological talents" and "the precious wealth of the world's atomic energy cause". It has provided more than 240,000 specialized talents of all levels and types for the national defense and military industry and the economic and social development of Jiangxi Province, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a large number of government leaders, business elites, scientific and technological leaders and senior technical experts.

The school currently has two campuses in Nanchang and Fuzhou, with a total campus area of ​​more than 2,500 acres. There are more than 20 teaching units including the School of Earth Sciences, the School of Geophysics and Measurement and Control Technology, the School of Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, the School of Surveying and Mapping Engineering, the School of Chemical Biology and Materials Science, the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Science, the School of Civil and Architectural Engineering, the School of Software, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Liberal Arts, the School of Foreign Languages, Fuzhou Normal University, the School of Marxism, the School of Physical Education, the School of Artificial Intelligence, the Graduate School, the National Defense Education College, the National University of Defense Technology (Nuclear Energy College), the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education (Artificial Intelligence College), the International Education College, the Higher Vocational and Technical College, and the School of Continuing Education.

The school currently has 1 postdoctoral research mobile station, 1 postdoctoral research workstation, 1 academician workstation, 3 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 19 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, and 15 types of master's professional degree authorization categories. There are 69 undergraduate majors, of which 59 undergraduate majors are open to the whole country. It has national characteristic majors, majors in the National Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, and Sino-foreign cooperative education projects, and is qualified to recruit international students in China. It has 5 national defense specialty disciplines in the "13th Five-Year Plan", 3 first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province in the "13th Five-Year Plan", and the chemistry discipline has entered the top 1% of the ESI global ranking. 13 undergraduate majors have been selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 23 undergraduate majors have been selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. Five majors including surveying and mapping engineering, resource exploration engineering, exploration technology and engineering, nuclear engineering and nuclear technology, and environmental engineering have passed the engineering education professional certification and entered the "first echelon" of global engineering education.

The school currently has more than 2,400 faculty and staff, including more than 1,630 full-time teachers (more than 620 full and associate professors), 29 national talents, and more than 150 provincial talents. The school has hired more than 200 well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad, including Nobel Prize winners, academicians of the American Academy of Sciences, academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Russian presidential advisers, as part-time or visiting professors of the school. The school has always adhered to the core of talent cultivation and implemented the fundamental mission of cultivating morality and educating people. The school currently has more than 23,000 students. The school has formed unique advantages and characteristics at the front and back ends of the nuclear fuel cycle, and has a complete talent training and scientific research system for nuclear geoscience and nuclear-related disciplines; it has the first national key laboratory in the field of nuclear resources and environment in my country, the "Nuclear Resources and Environment" National Key Laboratory, the only international joint research center in Jiangxi Province, the "Mass Spectrometry Science and Instrumentation" International Joint Research Center, and more than 30 national and provincial and ministerial high-level scientific research platforms including the "Radioactive Geology and Exploration Technology" National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory, the "Nuclear Technology Application" Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center, and the International Atomic Energy Agency Reference Laboratory; it has one of the first "National Huang Danian-style Teacher Teams of Colleges and Universities" of the Ministry of Education, one Ministry of Education Science and Technology Innovation Team, one Ministry of Natural Resources Science and Technology Innovation Team, one National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Team, and six Jiangxi Science and Technology Innovation Teams.

In recent years, the school has continuously increased its investment in scientific research and development, with an average annual research funding of 280 million yuan. It has been approved for national key research and development plan projects, National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Science Fund Projects, National Natural Science Foundation Excellent Youth Science Fund Projects, National Natural Science Foundation Key Projects, National Natural Science Foundation Joint Fund Key Projects, National Major Scientific Research Instrument Development Projects, International (Regional) Science and Technology Cooperation Key Research Projects, etc. It has won more than 70 national and provincial science and technology achievement awards, including the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress, the Special Prize and Second Prize of National Defense Science and Technology Progress, the Second Prize of National Defense Technology Invention, the First Prize of Jiangxi Natural Science, the First Prize of Jiangxi Science and Technology Progress, and the First Prize of Jiangxi Social Science Outstanding Achievements.

The school adheres to open education and has established inter-school exchanges and academic contacts with universities and research institutes in more than 20 countries including Russia, the United States, Canada, France, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil, Chile, etc. Actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the "BRICS" innovation action plan, host the Confucius Institute of Tribhuvan University in Nepal, establish long-term scientific and technological cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and establish the "Russian R&D Center for Mass Spectrometry Science and Instruments". Actively carry out science and technology aid projects, connect with the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, and promote the overseas transformation of scientific and technological achievements. The school actively introduces foreign high-end experts to serve the school's teaching and scientific research, and makes full use of scientific research platforms to attract young scholars from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to work. Three foreign experts have successively won the "Chinese Government Friendship Award". The school actively carries out international student training. The education of international students in China covers three educational levels: undergraduate, master and doctoral. At the same time, the school accepts foreign postdoctoral fellows to work in the station to carry out scientific research. The school is the unit responsible for the International Atomic Energy Agency's Technical Cooperation Project (TC) and the dispatching unit for consulting experts. It undertakes the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) international conferences and the training of uranium geology and nuclear technicians. It has won the first Marie Sklodowska Curie Scholarship of the International Atomic Energy Agency and has made positive contributions to the peaceful use of nuclear energy in the world.

The school is a garden-style campus and has been awarded the "National Advanced Greening Unit" and "Jiangxi Provincial Gardening Unit". The school recruits and employs students nationwide, and the employment rate has remained above 90%. It has been rated as the "Advanced Unit for Employment of College Graduates in the Province" many times.
