Jiangxi Agricultural University

Jiangxi Agricultural University is a high-level agricultural university with agricultural advantages, biotechnology as its characteristics, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It has the right to confer doctoral degrees and is one of the first institutions in my country to have the right to confer bachelor's and master's degrees. It is the earliest university in Jiangxi Province to carry out graduate education. It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, a university jointly built by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the People's Government of Jiangxi Province, and a university in the National Central and Western Colleges and Universities Basic Capacity Construction Project. The school is located in Nanchang Economic and Technological Development Zone, with a total area of ​​16,000 acres. The campus is beautiful and the scenery is pleasant.

The school has a long history of running schools. The school can be traced back to the Jiangxi Industrial School founded in 1905, which was renamed Jiangxi Higher Agricultural School in 1908. Undergraduate education began with the National Chung Cheng University founded in 1940, which was renamed Nanchang University in 1949 and Jiangxi Agricultural College established in 1952. Jiangxi Communist Labor University was founded in 1958 and renamed Jiangxi Communist Labor University in 1968. Jiangxi Agricultural University and Jiangxi Communist Labor University merged in 1969. In November 1980, it was renamed Jiangxi Agricultural University.

The school has a complete education system. There are currently 17 colleges with 23,557 full-time students. The disciplines cover 9 major categories, including agriculture, science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, education, and art. There are 6 first-level doctoral programs, 20 first-level master programs, 9 professional degree authorization points, and 59 undergraduate majors. It has 1 key discipline of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, 4 first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province, 11 provincial first-class majors, 11 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 4 national first-class specialty major construction sites, and 9 provincial specialty majors. It has 4 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 4 national practical teaching bases, and 4 postdoctoral research mobile stations.

The school has a strong faculty. There are 1,853 faculty members, and more than 80% of the faculty have doctoral and master's degrees. There are 80 national talents represented by academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 228 provincial and ministerial talents represented by Jinggang Scholars. There are 18 national innovation teams, national excellent teaching teams, provincial innovation teams, and provincial excellent teaching teams.

The school's science and technology innovation system has distinctive characteristics. The first provincial and ministerial co-construction national key laboratory in Jiangxi Province was established. There are currently 31 provincial and ministerial science and technology innovation platforms, including the National Engineering Laboratory, the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Key Laboratory of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration (Engineering Technology Center), the Provincial Key Laboratory (Engineering Technology Research Center), the Jiangxi Major Science and Technology Innovation Platform Reserve Team, the Engineering Laboratory (Research Center), and the Key Innovation Center for Industry-Education Integration. It has the only new rural development research institute in the province. It has 9 high-level scientific research platforms, including national collaborative innovation centers, provincial collaborative innovation centers, and provincial key think tanks.

The school has made outstanding achievements in running schools. Adhering to the common development of teaching and scientific research, it has achieved excellent results in talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international exchanges and cooperation. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 350,000 high-quality professionals of various types, and has produced 7 academicians, 17 provincial and ministerial leaders, more than 30 university party committee secretaries and presidents, more than 100 national experts with outstanding contributions, national labor models, national model teachers and other outstanding talents. Most of the graduates have become the backbone of agricultural production, operation, management and technology promotion. The school has established strategic cooperation and scientific and technological cooperation relations with more than 80% of the counties and cities in the province, and has promoted a large number of excellent varieties and modern agricultural technologies with independent intellectual property rights. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, it has won 62 scientific research awards at all levels and types. 2 disciplines have entered the top 1% of ESI globally. It was the first in Jiangxi Province to implement major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation.
