East China Jiaotong University

East China Jiaotong University is a teaching and research university with transportation as its feature, rail as its core, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It is a "co-constructed" university by the China Railway Group and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, the National Railway Administration and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, a "central and western colleges and universities basic capacity building project" university, and a doctoral degree-granting institution.

Historical evolution: In 1971, the State Council and the Central Military Commission decided to merge the Locomotive and Rolling Stock Department of Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Railway Engineering Department of Tongji University into Shanghai Railway Institute, renamed it East China Jiaotong University, and moved it to Jiangxi. In 1978, East China Jiaotong University and Shanghai Railway Institute continued to run their own schools. The school was originally affiliated to the Ministry of Railways. In 2000, it was transformed into "central and local co-construction, with local management as the main body."

School conditions: The school is located in Nanchang, Jiangxi, "where the military flag is raised". The school is close to the river and the lake, and is surrounded by mountains and water. Disciplines and majors: The school covers 8 disciplines, including engineering, economics, management, literature, science, law, education, and art. It has 3 first-level doctoral programs and 21 first-level master programs. The engineering discipline has entered the top 1% of ESI worldwide. 3 disciplines have been selected as first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province. 4 disciplines have become the leading disciplines of the Jiangxi Provincial Discipline Alliance. It has 19 professional degree authorization categories and is a master's degree recommendation unit. More than 50 majors are open to enrollment nationwide, of which 19 majors have been selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 18 majors have been selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. It has 4 national characteristic majors, 3 national excellent engineer pilot majors, and 9 majors have passed engineering education certification (assessment). It has 5 national first-class undergraduate courses, presided over and approved 1 new engineering and new liberal arts research and reform practice project of the Ministry of Education, and 1 major was selected as the pilot major of the Ministry of Education's new liberal arts construction. Education and teaching: The school has formed a complete talent training system for undergraduate, master and doctoral students, and currently has more than 30,000 students of various types. In 2014, the school won the second prize of national teaching achievement for its reform and practice of multi-dimensional interactive talent training for grassroots frontline. The school has won a number of important awards represented by the first and second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the first first prize of the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences in Jiangxi Province, the Science and Technology Award of the China Railway Society, the Science and Technology Award of the China Transportation Association, the Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and the first prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention Award; from 2017 to 2019, it won the National Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention Award for three consecutive years. It is the only award-winning unit in Jiangxi Province and the only university to have won this honor for three consecutive years.

Enrollment and Employment: The school enrolls students from 33 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and special administrative regions) across the country, and some majors implement large-scale enrollment. In the 16 provinces that enroll students in batches, all of them participate in the first batch of enrollment.
