Jinggangshan University is located in Ji'an City, the cradle of the Chinese revolution, Jinggangshan, which is known as the "Jiangnan Wang County" and enjoys the reputation of "the land of literature, integrity and righteousness". The school was founded in 1958. After several mergers and changes of school names, it was restored and renamed Jinggangshan University in 2007. It is now a key university jointly supported by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Education, a university supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government, and a counterpart university supported by Tongji University. The school began to offer graduate education in 2011 and was approved to become a master's degree awarding institution in 2021. It is a full-time comprehensive university integrating graduate education, general undergraduate education, international student education and adult education.

The school currently has three campuses, covering an area of ​​2,458.7 acres, a building area of ​​737,000 square meters, teaching and research equipment worth more than 420 million yuan, and a library with more than 2.14 million books; it has 15 teaching colleges (departments) and 3 management colleges; it has one "Grade 3 Class A" directly affiliated hospital and one non-directly affiliated hospital. There are 50 undergraduate majors, covering 11 disciplines such as economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art. It recruits students from 31 provinces, cities, autonomous regions, and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, of which 13 majors are included in the first batch of enrollment. There are more than 20,000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students, and more than 10,000 adult education students.

The school currently has more than 1,600 faculty members, including 1,212 full-time teachers (133 professors and 415 associate professors); 1,045 faculty members with master's degrees or above, including 346 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 10 second-level professors, 2 national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" philosophy and social science leaders, 1 national New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project, 2 national cultural celebrities and "Four Batches" talents, 1 national advanced worker, 4 State Council Special Allowances, and 2 Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talent Support Program; 2 "Jinggang Scholars" Distinguished Professors, 23 Provincial Hundred Thousand Talents Project, 2 Ganpo Talent 555 Project, 3 Young Jinggang Scholars Award Program, and 19 "Double Thousand Plan" (including flexible introduction); more than 30 well-known experts and scholars at home and abroad have been hired as part-time, visiting or honorary professors.

Talent training has achieved remarkable results. Adhere to the foundation and strengthen professional and curriculum construction. There are 1 national first-class undergraduate professional construction site, 2 provincial first-class specialty majors, 1 national professional comprehensive reform pilot project, 4 national "four new" research and practice projects, 3 national excellent talent education and training plan projects, 6 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot projects, and 5 provincial excellent talent education and training plan projects. There is currently 1 curriculum ideological and political demonstration project of the Ministry of Education, 6 provincial teaching teams, 3 provincial talent training model innovation experimental areas, 446 various teaching practice bases, 1 national college student practice teaching base, and 1 provincial college student innovation and entrepreneurship park. The school emphasizes the cultivation of applied talents and has built a talent training model of "Jinggangshan Spirit + learning, training, research, and competition". In recent years, students have participated in various national and provincial disciplines and skills competitions such as the National "Challenge Cup", College Student Mathematical Modeling, and College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition and won more than 2,100 awards; in the 7th China International "Internet +" Competition in 2021, our school's "Hundred Years of Happiness-Lily Illuminates the Road to Rural Revitalization" project won the gold medal in the "Youth Red Dream Journey" track.

The discipline construction and scientific research results are fruitful. Adhere to the discipline leadership, strengthen basic research and social services, benchmark the "Double First-Class" construction requirements, start 25 degree point construction projects, and build a "3+6+9+N" discipline framework system of three categories and four levels of peak disciplines, plateau disciplines, and growth disciplines. Marxist theory and biology were approved as first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period; approved as a first-level discipline master's degree authorization point for Marxist theory, and two master's professional degree authorization points for social work and biology and medicine. The school has 98 scientific research platforms of various levels and types, including: 1 key research base for humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, 1 training base for teachers of ideological and political theory courses in colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education, 1 key laboratory of the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation, 1 key research base of the National Tourism Administration, 2 engineering laboratories in Jiangxi Province, 1 collaborative innovation center in Jiangxi Province in 2011, 2 key research bases for humanities and social sciences in colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province, and 46 internal scientific research platforms. Since 2015, the school has been approved for 158 national scientific research projects in four categories, 453 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and 3 training programs for academic leaders in Jiangxi Province. Teachers have published more than 3,000 academic papers, more than 620 of which have been included in SCI, EI, and ISTP, and more than 180 academic monographs and textbooks have been published, and more than 200 intellectual property achievements have been approved.

The spirit of Jinggangshan is passed on from generation to generation. Adhering to the spirit of Jinggangshan to cultivate souls and educate people, adhering to the school motto of "learning widely, persevering, thinking diligently and acting quickly", the campus culture characteristics of "red, green, ancient, and gold" have been formed. Actively inheriting the red gene and continuing the red bloodline, we have created "two venues, three museums, and six gardens", and built multiple cultural education platforms such as the "Yingshanhong" Youth College, the National College, and the "Red Medical Alliance", striving to transform the advantages of Jinggangshan's red resources into advantages in running schools and educating people, and strive to be at the forefront of national universities in promoting the Jinggangshan spirit that transcends time and space. In 2021, the textbook "Red Culture" edited by our experts won the first prize in the basic education category of the first national textbook construction; the music and dance epic "Jinggangshan" has been performed for 16 consecutive years and more than 260 times, and was awarded the second prize for outstanding achievements in campus culture construction in colleges and universities across the country by the Ministry of Education together with the "Red Legend of Jinggangshan" field trip; for nine consecutive years, we have been invited to participate in the "Flowers in May" National College Students Campus Art Performance, and participated in the 2019 CCTV Spring Festival Gala Jinggangshan Branch Performance, and won the honorary title of "2019 CCTV Spring Festival Gala Jinggangshan Branch Rehearsal Advanced Unit", showing the style of Jingda students who "can bear heavy and cold", and let the Jinggangshan spirit across time and space radiate new era light. The school strives to cultivate red descendants who are responsible for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and build a nationally famous red university.

Social service capabilities and the level of internationalization of education continue to improve. Adhere to foreign exchanges and cooperation and open schools to enhance school strength and influence. We continue to deepen the counterpart support cooperation between Tongji University and our school, focus on the strategic layout of "four points, one line and one surface", and thoroughly implement the "four significant improvements in counterpart support". So far, we have held 12 "Tongji Academic Week" activities; we have signed inter-school cooperation agreements with 6 universities including Xiamen University and Shanghai Institute of Physical Education to carry out joint training of undergraduates. We have established more than 30 revolutionary traditional education bases or training bases, and the "Yingshanhong Cadre Training Institute" has held nearly 550 training courses for party and government agencies and universities across the country, training more than 25,000 trainees. We have selected special science and technology commissioners to help build the "Enriching the People and Strengthening the County" project, and explored the "university-science park-enterprise" science and technology service model for local areas. The service results have been affirmed by central leaders such as Zhao Leji, Hu Chunhua, and Meng Jianzhu. Since 2015, we have sent 6 work teams (groups) of 15 cadres to 4 provincial and municipal assistance points to carry out targeted poverty alleviation, poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, making due contributions to the comprehensive building of a well-off society. We have cooperated to build a provincial-level Jinggangshan University Science and Technology Park and a modern agricultural development research institute to promote the marketization and industrialization of scientific research results. We have successively established 15 local alumni associations in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, etc., and continuously gathered the development strength of the school. The school has established cooperative relations with 39 colleges and universities in 17 countries (regions) such as the United States, Britain, Russia, South Korea, Japan, and Germany, and co-built the first Chinese teaching center with Mangram University in India. The Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education approved the establishment of the Indian Research Center (Preparatory) and the Jinggangshan University Indian Research Institute.
