Changsha Normal University

Changsha Normal University is a full-time public undergraduate college run by the People's Government of Hunan Province. Its predecessor was the Changsha Normal School founded in 1912 by Mr. Xu Teli, Chairman Mao's teacher, proletarian revolutionary, and founder of the Republic's education cause.

The school has a long history of running schools, a profound cultural heritage, a gathering of famous teachers, and a large number of outstanding talents. In the course of a hundred years of development, it has brought together scholars and celebrities such as Yang Changji, Zhu Jianfan, and Zhou Gucheng, and more than 20 revolutionary martyrs such as Liu Zhixun, Luo Xuezan, Chen Zhangfu, and Jiang Changqing. It has cultivated a large number of pillars of society, represented by Tian Han, the composer of the national anthem, Xu Guangda, a founding general, Liao Mosha, a famous writer, and Liu Ying, a female hero of the Long March. As the most important memorial site and research base for Xu Teli in the country, the school has always been highly valued by the Party and the government. Party and state leaders such as Hu Yaobang, Li Lanqing, Li Tieying, and Liu Yandong have expressed their cordial care through inscriptions, interviews, and inspections.

The school has been committed to teacher education for a century and has developed preschool teacher education for more than 70 years. It is an implementation unit of the reform project of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Teacher Training Program, a pilot university of the Ministry of Education's Sports and Aesthetic Education Immersion Action Plan, a demonstration comprehensive reform training base for kindergarten teachers, and a teacher training base for Hunan's construction of a strong province in education.

School conditions: The school currently has two campuses, South (Xingsha) and North (Ansha), with a campus area of ​​698,200 square meters, a building area of ​​401,800 square meters, a total value of 107 million yuan for teaching and scientific research equipment, and a collection of 1.0068 million paper books; there is currently 1 provincial practical teaching demonstration center, 9 school-level teaching experimental centers, 54 experimental training rooms; 2 outdoor sports fields, 1 gymnasium, and complete supporting facilities.

Disciplines and majors: 28 undergraduate majors are set up, covering multiple disciplines such as education, art, literature, science, engineering, and management. The professional construction has achieved remarkable results, with 2 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites and 10 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites; 3 national first-class undergraduate courses, 3 national teacher education quality resource sharing courses, 37 provincial first-class undergraduate courses, and 2 provincial curriculum ideological and political demonstration courses.

Faculty: The school currently has 1,026 faculty and staff, including 665 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, 226 have senior professional titles and 119 have doctoral degrees. There is 1 national candidate for the "New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project", 1 expert enjoying the special government allowance of the State Council, 1 member of the National Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee, 2 national outstanding teachers, 1 national post-learning Lei Feng model, 5 candidates for the Hunan Province New Century 121 Talent Project, 1 Furong Teaching Master, 3 provincial subject leaders and other experts and outstanding teachers.

Social services: The university actively serves the needs of national development strategies and local economic and social development. It is one of the four universities designated by the Ministry of Education to provide counterpart support to Yunnan Lijiang Teachers College; it undertakes 70% of the national training tasks for kindergarten teachers in Hunan, and is entrusted by Gansu, Jilin, Xinjiang, Tibet and other provinces to undertake a series of special training projects. It has established friendly cooperative relations with 17 universities or institutions in the United States, Britain, South Korea, Pakistan and other countries, and implemented projects such as mutual dispatch of teachers, paid internships for students in summer vacation, and long-term and short-term study abroad.

The tide is flat and the two sides are wide, and the wind is right and the sails are hoisted. The school is based on the school motto of "virtue, erudition, unique and steadfast" and the spirit of the Changshi of "people-oriented, world-minded, diligent, simple and resolute, and keep pace with the times". It is moving towards the goal of building a local high-level applied undergraduate normal college with distinctive characteristics and certain influence at home and abroad.
