Xihua University

Xihua University is a key comprehensive university in Sichuan Province. It is a key university supported by the National Central and Western University Basic Capacity Construction Project, an excellent university in the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching work level assessment, a university in the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program, and one of the first-class discipline construction universities in Sichuan Province.

The school was founded in 1960, then named Sichuan Agricultural Machinery College. It was one of the agricultural machinery undergraduate colleges built by the state in the seven major regions at that time to implement Comrade Mao Zedong's important instructions that "the fundamental way out for agriculture lies in mechanization". It began to recruit undergraduate students in the year of its establishment. The school was identified as one of the six key universities by Sichuan Province in 1978. In 1982, it became one of the first batch of bachelor's degree-granting institutions in the country. In 1983, it was renamed Sichuan Industrial College. In 1985, it began to recruit master's students and was approved to confer master's degrees in 1990. In 2003, Sichuan Industrial College and Chengdu Normal College merged to form Xihua University. In 2008, Sichuan Institute of Economics and Management was integrated into Xihua University.

The school headquarters is located in Pidu District, Chengdu City, Pengzhou Campus is located in Pengzhou City, Chengdu, Rennan Campus is located in Wuhou District, Chengdu City, and Yibin Campus is located in Yibin Sanjiang New District, the first provincial new district in Sichuan. The school has complete teaching, scientific research and sports facilities. The library has 10.6 million volumes of literature resources. It is one of the 100 universities in the country that collects the "China Re-creation Rare Book Series".

It has 2 provincial first-class disciplines, 8 provincial key disciplines, 39 master's degree authorization points, and 79 undergraduate majors for enrollment in 2021. It has the qualification to recommend outstanding undergraduate graduates from all over the country to study for a master's degree without examination. It has a national teaching demonstration base, a provincial university science and technology park and a provincial college student innovation and entrepreneurship club. It is one of the first demonstration universities in Sichuan Province to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education. In the past five years, students have won more than 820 national awards and more than 2,860 provincial awards in major domestic and foreign subject competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" National College Students' Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition and the China "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; won the only special prize in the finals of the National College Students' Bridge Design Competition, was nominated for the international special prize in the American College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition, and achieved a breakthrough in the medal in the "Automotive Technology" project of the World Skills Competition in my country and won the silver medal.

The school is the first pilot university for the national promotion of the "Easy Class" online ideological and political platform and a national demonstration university for the co-construction of the Easy Class. The school won the first prize of the 8th National Outstanding Achievements in Campus Culture Construction of Colleges and Universities and the special prize of the 9th Outstanding Achievements. The school recruits students from high-level sports teams in table tennis, taekwondo and football; Olympic champion Chen Longcan coaches the school and leads the high-level table tennis team to win the men's table tennis championship at the World University Summer Games; Xihua cheerleading team won the third place in the World Cheerleading Championships. The school conducts scientific research on the forefront of science and technology, the main battlefield of the economy, and the regional development strategy, and the scientific research level and social service capabilities are constantly improving. There are nearly 20 national and provincial platforms, including the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education, the Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, the National Regional Research Center of the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province, the Engineering (Technology) Research Center of Sichuan Province, the International Science and Technology Cooperation Research Institute of Sichuan Province, the Key Research Base of Sichuan Social Sciences, the Postdoctoral Innovation and Practice Base of Sichuan Province, and the Sichuan 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center. The school is a member of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle University Alliance; it has co-built the "Tianfu Innovation Institute" with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; it has carried out cooperation in the fields of agricultural machinery and food with China Agricultural University and Southwest University; it has co-built the "Sichuan Modern Agricultural Equipment Collaborative Innovation Center", "Emergency Management College" and "Sichuan Quality Development Research Institute" with the Provincial Department of Agriculture, the Provincial Department of Emergency Management, the Provincial Market Supervision Bureau and other government departments and bureaus.
