Sichuan Conservatory of Music

Sichuan Conservatory of Music was formerly known as the "Sichuan Provincial Drama Education Experimental School" founded in 1939. It was renamed in 1959 and became one of the six professional music colleges with undergraduate education in China at that time. The school has two campuses in Wuhou and Xindu, covering a total area of ​​more than 1,200 acres, with 26 teaching departments and 10 research institutions. The school covers graduate education, undergraduate education, junior college education, adult education and secondary art education, with more than 16,000 students. It is one of the 11 independent professional music colleges in the country.

The school takes music and dance as the main disciplines, and the disciplines of art theory, drama and film and television, fine arts and design are comprehensively and coordinated. The discipline construction is constantly improving and the discipline layout is continuously optimized. The provincial key disciplines are: composition, keyboard instruments, and painting. The national first-class undergraduate professional construction points are: music performance, composition and composition technology theory, and recording art. The provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction points are: musicology, dance, painting, and product design. The provincial applied demonstration majors are: recording art, environmental design, and product design. The provincial excellent teaching team is: Composition Department Composition Teaching and Research Section, Piano Department Piano Teaching and Research Section, Orchestra String Teaching and Research Section, Vocal Department Bel Canto Teaching and Research Section, Accordion Electronic Keyboard Department Accordion Teaching Team. The school has three first-level master's degree authorization points in music and dance, fine arts, and art theory, and two professional degree authorization points for Master of Arts (MFA) and Master of Education. In 2013, it was approved as a postdoctoral innovation and practice base in Sichuan Province.

The school currently has 352 professional and technical personnel above the associate senior level, including: 13 second-level professors, 12 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 1 ministerial expert, 13 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province, 5 outstanding experts with outstanding contributions in Sichuan Province, and 3 famous teachers in Sichuan Province. The school also has a number of teaching teams composed of experts and professors who love art education and have achieved fruitful results. A large number of experts and scholars such as Chang Sumin, Yang Luyou, Zou Lu, Liu Wenjin, Lang Yuxiu, Huang Huwei, etc., who are older generation music educators, have great influence at home and abroad.

The school has won 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 National Invention Award, 25 provincial teaching achievement awards, 26 provincial philosophy and social science awards, 33 "China Music Golden Bell Awards", 5 German Industrial Design "Red Dot Awards", and 31 invention patents. In the past five years, teachers and students of the school have won 470 international awards and 1,500 domestic awards in major international and domestic competitions and awards, including 85 awards at the national and provincial and ministerial levels. 9 national scientific research projects and 29 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects have been approved. 167 books of various types have been published, and more than 1,500 academic papers have been published. The school has a number of provincial key academic research platforms such as the "China-Central and Eastern Europe Youth Art Talent Training and Practice Center", "Sichuan Key Laboratory of Digital Media Art", "Southwest Music Research Center", "Sichuan Music Art Popularization Base", and "Chinese Traditional Music Research Institute". It has established academic research institutions such as the "Sino-US Visual Art Performance Center" and the "French Gramm Electronic Music Creation and Research Center" with foreign academic institutions, and is responsible for the daily work of academic groups such as the "China Musical Association Theory Professional Committee", "Sichuan Music Literature Society" and "Sichuan Digital Media Art Association". The journal "Music Exploration" is an excellent social science journal in national universities.

The school adheres to the policy of open education, actively expands foreign exchanges and cooperation, attaches importance to international academic and cultural exchanges, actively spreads Chinese culture, organizes various international exchange activities at all levels, and participates in foreign-related activities of the state and the provincial party committee and government. The school has established cooperative relations with more than 40 overseas universities in more than 10 countries, and has selected more than 300 students to study and study abroad and pursue degrees. Every year, more than 200 undergraduate students participate in various overseas exchange programs. The school began to recruit international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in 2003.

The school actively serves the overall situation of the center, vigorously carries out school-local cooperation, deeply participates in poverty alleviation, helps local economic, social and cultural education development, and signs strategic cooperation agreements with many cities and well-known enterprises. The school has established the "China Professional Music Academy Original Music Development Alliance" with ten professional music colleges across the country to promote the development of original music in China. The school actively responded to the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle and took the lead in establishing the "Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle College Art Alliance", with a total of 68 colleges and universities participating, contributing to the cultural and artistic, social and economic development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities. After more than 80 years of school development and the joint efforts of several generations of Sichuan Conservatory of Music people, the school has trained a large number of outstanding professional art talents for the country. A number of outstanding alumni have emerged, including composers Gao Weijie, He Xuntian, Jia Daqun, singers Fan Jingma, Huo Yong, performing artist Liu Xiaoqing, music educator Huang Wanpin, piano educator Dan Zhaoyi, pianist Chen Sa, violinists Ning Feng, Wen Wei, etc., who enjoy a high reputation both at home and abroad.
