Chengdu Industrial College is a public full-time undergraduate school run by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. It is located in Chengdu, a famous historical and cultural city in China and a national central city. The school was founded in 1913 and was the first industrial school held in Sichuan Province after the Revolution of 1911. The school has been renamed 12 times and has gone through several historical development stages, including Sichuan Provincial First Class Industrial School, Sichuan Provincial Chengdu Advanced Industrial Vocational School, Chengdu Radio Machinery School, and Chengdu Electronic Machinery College. After the founding of New China, it was directly under the Ministry of Electronics Industry for a long time. Since 1987, it has been sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and supervised by the Provincial Electronics Industry Department. In 2000, it was adjusted to the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education. Marshal Chen Yi studied dyeing and weaving in our school from 1916 to 1918. Comrade Jiang Zemin once visited our school and wrote an inscription for the school's 75th anniversary: ​​"Carry forward the fine traditions and cultivate outstanding talents."

The school is now an implementation school of the national "13th Five-Year Plan" local college transformation demonstration project (industry-education integration planning project), and has obtained the qualification of the central government to support the reform and development of local colleges and universities. It is a "department-school co-construction" school of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and has won honorary titles such as "Sichuan Province Model School for Rule of Law" and "Sichuan Province Civilized Campus".

Since its establishment 108 years ago, the school has never stopped running schools. It has always adhered to the school motto of "using hands and brains together, learning and doing as one" and the school spirit of "rigorous, simple, diligent and innovative". In accordance with the qualified undergraduate standards and the overall requirements for the development of applied universities, it has updated its ideas, deepened comprehensive reforms, focused on undergraduate teaching, and established the "local, applied, and open" school-running positioning and the "rooted in the local area, soul in application, industry-education integration, and collaborative education" school-running ideas. It has trained a large number of outstanding talents for the country and made positive contributions to the local social and economic development.

The school currently has Pidu, Yibin, and Huapaifang campuses, covering an area of ​​nearly 2,000 acres. It has 14 secondary colleges (departments) including the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Materials and Environmental Engineering, School of Computer Engineering, School of Electronic Engineering (School of Microelectronics), School of Automation and Electrical Engineering, School of Network and Communication Engineering, School of Economics and Management, School of Automobile and Transportation, School of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, School of Humanities and Design (Yanjiyuan Academy), School of Marxism, School of Foreign Languages ​​and International Education, Department of Physical Education, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and 1 School of Continuing Education, 1 training center/factory, and 36 undergraduate majors. There are about 14,500 full-time students.

The school has a total of 995 faculty members, including 736 full-time teachers, 311 teachers with senior professional titles above associate senior, and 645 teachers with master's degrees or above; 2 national-level teaching masters and 4 provincial-level teaching masters, 2 national-level teaching teams and 3 provincial-level teaching teams. More than 50 teachers have won the titles of National Advanced Teachers, National Excellent Teachers, Provincial Model Teachers, Experts Enjoying Special Government Allowances, Provincial Academic and Technical Leaders and Reserve Candidates, and Provincial Outstanding Experts with Outstanding Contributions.

The school has 4 national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, including "Mechanical and Electronic Engineering", "Logistics Management", "Microelectronics Science and Engineering", and "Computer Science and Technology", and 13 provincial-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, including "Material Forming and Control Engineering", "Mechanical Engineering", "Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation", "Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments", and "Electrical Engineering and Automation". There are 6 application-oriented demonstration majors in Sichuan Province's local general undergraduate colleges, including "Software Engineering", "Communication Engineering" and "Electronic Information Engineering", 7 majors selected as pilot majors for the provincial excellent engineer education and training plan, 5 majors as provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 2 majors as provincial comprehensive reform construction projects. A total of 35 majors have won provincial and above honors. There are 5 provincial-level boutique online open courses, 4 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration courses for higher education institutions of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, and 10 provincial first batch of application-oriented demonstration courses. The school's teaching reform project entitled "Transformation and Development, "Five Integrations" of Industry and Education, and Cultivation of Application-oriented Engineering Talents" won the first prize of the 8th "Sichuan Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award" in Sichuan Province.

The school has teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of about 181 million yuan; the library has a collection of more than 2.76 million books, including 1.23 million paper books, and has built a campus network with an equipment value of more than 10 million yuan based on a 10G backbone network. It has formed a relatively complete computer network service system and was rated as "excellent" in the inspection and evaluation of campus network construction in Sichuan universities.

The school has 3 national-level training bases approved by the Ministry of Education (mechanical and electronic engineering, numerical control technology, automobile inspection and maintenance), 3 key laboratories of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education (molds, electrical processing, drone flight control system application and technology) and 2 key research bases of Sichuan Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences (Sex Sociology and Sex Education Research Center, UAV Industry Development Research Center); 50 established laboratories, of which 14 are "industry-university-research-use" laboratories jointly built with off-campus units such as Intel Chengdu Company. 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers (mechanical foundation, Internet of Things information technology and application, electrical and electronic engineering), 1 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching demonstration center (mechanical foundation). Our school's "School-Enterprise Cooperation, Exploration and Practice of Innovation in the Operation Mechanism of Engineering Training Bases" has won the first prize of national teaching achievements, and the research results of building a training center with a real engineering environment on campus have been promoted and applied in other universities. Students have outstanding results in various national subject competitions, and have won dozens of national first and second prizes in competitions such as the "National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition" and the "National College Student Electronic Design Competition". In 2013, our school students won the championship of the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition and won the "Higher Education Society Cup". In 2016, the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition (Undergraduate Group) won three national first prizes, and won the first prize in the American College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition in 2019 and 2020.

The school closely focuses on development goals and strives to implement the "open international strategy". With the goal of cultivating application-oriented innovative talents, it has built a pragmatic and efficient international cooperation and exchange platform. The results of foreign exchanges and cooperation are obvious. It has established cooperative relations with more than 20 universities in Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark, and Russia, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Thailand, South Korea and other countries along the "Belt and Road" and Hong Kong and Taiwan. In recent years, the school has received hundreds of teachers and students from the United States, Germany, Czech Republic, New Zealand, Canada, Denmark and other countries as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan to give lectures and exchange. The school has set up a special "Chen Yi Study Abroad Scholarship" to select and subsidize a group of students to exchange and study at foreign universities every year, continuously expand the channels of exchange students, exchange students and joint training projects, optimize the exchange and study mechanism of students abroad, and build a platform for students to improve their academic qualifications and abilities.
