Yibin University

Yibin University is located in Yibin City, Sichuan Province, the "First City of the Yangtze River" and a national historical and cultural city. The school began its history of higher education in 1978. In 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Yibin Normal College and the Yibin Branch of Sichuan Education College were merged and upgraded to a provincial full-time comprehensive undergraduate college. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, the school has won the titles of "National Civilized Unit", "National Model School for Language and Writing Work", "National Advanced Unit for Mass Sports", "National Top 400 Units for Afforestation and Greening", "Party Building Demonstration University" in Sichuan Province, "Three-dimensional Education" Comprehensive Reform Pilot University in Sichuan Province, "Sichuan Garden-style College", "Sichuan Ordinary Colleges and Universities Advanced Unit for College Students' Employment", "Sichuan Model School for Rule of Law in Schools", and "Sichuan Civilized Campus".

The school currently has three campuses, namely, Area A, Area B and Lingang Campus, with a total area of ​​2,300 acres. The total value of fixed assets is about 4 billion yuan, the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is about 280 million yuan, and the collection of books is nearly 12 million (including electronic books). There are 13 secondary departments and 3 secondary colleges, recruiting students from 28 provinces, cities and autonomous regions across the country, and recruiting international students from South Asia and Southeast Asia. There are more than 24,000 students.

The school adheres to the socialist direction of running schools, takes root in the local area to run a university that satisfies the people, and is one of the first eight application-oriented transformation and development pilot universities in Sichuan Province. The school closely focuses on the goal of building a distinctive application-oriented comprehensive university and cultivating innovative application talents, vigorously implements the "2468" overall planning and "Ten Special Actions", and cultivates the spirit of Yibin College of "Self-improvement, Perfection and Far-reaching" and the school motto of "Seeking Truth, Seeking Truth, Openness and Innovation", forming the "12345" school-running and school-managing thought. By vigorously implementing the four major strategies of "strengthening the school with talents, establishing the school with teaching, developing the school with scientific research, and honoring the school with service", the school has promoted the high-quality connotation development of the school and formed an "innovative, application-oriented, and internationalized" school-running pattern.

The school currently has 1,649 faculty and staff, including 1,361 full-time teachers, 410 doctors (including 38 foreign doctors), 849 masters, 460 teachers with senior professional titles, and 334 dual-qualified teachers; there are 20 provincial academic and technological leaders and reserve candidates, provincial outstanding experts with outstanding contributions, and provincial college teaching masters; there are 55 master's supervisors in electronic information, agriculture, social work, food science and engineering, law, biology, etc. 233 experts and scholars such as Nobel Prize winners, domestic and foreign academicians, Yangtze River Scholars, and outstanding young scholars and external professors have been hired. A professional talent team with high-level talents as the core and high-quality young and middle-aged teachers as the main body has been formed.

The teaching-based school has achieved remarkable results. The school offers 63 undergraduate majors, covering ten disciplines of liberal arts, science, engineering, management, economics, law, education, art, agriculture, and medicine. In recent years, the school has deepened the reform of education and teaching and coordinated the promotion of "double first-class" construction. There are 1 national first-class undergraduate major, 1 national comprehensive reform major, 9 provincial first-class undergraduate majors, 6 provincial application-oriented demonstration majors, 3 national "four new" research and practice projects, 13 provincial "curriculum ideological and political" series projects, and more than 100 national and provincial undergraduate teaching engineering projects and teaching achievement awards. In the past five years, students have won 1,709 awards of various types in national and provincial subject competitions, 131 national and provincial awards in the "Challenge Cup", 1,007 national and provincial projects in the college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program, and 106 national authorized patents. The quality of training innovative and applied talents has been effectively demonstrated, and the employment rate of students has reached more than 90% for many consecutive years.

The school has achieved fruitful results in scientific research. The school closely follows the national strategy, closely connects with the industrial development of provinces and cities, and promotes the innovative development of government, industry, and academia. 9 provincial and ministerial scientific research and innovation teams and 30 school-level scientific research and innovation teams have been established. A number of research institutes with the characteristics of industry-education integration, such as the New Materials Industry Technology Research Institute and the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Research Institute, 2 provincial and municipal achievement transformation platforms, and 30 municipal and ministerial scientific research platforms have been established. The South Asia and Southeast Asia Research Institute, Sanjiang Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Academician Workstation, and the first "Nobel Prize Expert Joint Workstation" in the province's colleges and universities have been established to serve the Southward Opening Strategy. The first "Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Intelligent Terminals" jointly built by the department and the city, as well as the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Solid Resource Fermentation and Utilization, the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Refined Sichuan Tea, the Chinese Wine History Research Center, and the Sichuan Thinker Research Center and other 7 provincial key research platforms have been built. A total of 23 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards have been won, including 2 first prizes.

The service to Rongxiao has been steadily advancing. The school actively connects and integrates into the regional economic and social development, strengthens the principle of party management of talents, actively organizes the "Doctor Expert Service Group", deepens the cooperation between schools and enterprises, and schools and local governments, and strives to provide due services and support for the industrial development of the province and city and the high-quality construction of Yibin as a national demonstration city for the integration of production and education. It has established special colleges such as the Bamboo College, the Tea College, the Quality and Standardization College, and the Automation and Mechanical and Electrical Engineering College to fully serve the development of bamboo, tea, quality inspection, artificial intelligence and other industries in the province and city. It is one of the supporting units of the "Refined Sichuan Tea Backbone Cultivation Industry" in Sichuan Province, and has signed cooperation agreements with more than 800 government agencies, enterprises and institutions. Sichuan Tea College was successfully approved as the first batch of provincial modern industrial colleges. It co-established the Marxist College with local governments, focusing on cultivating grassroots management cadres serving local development; and co-established the Teacher Education College to train basic education teachers for local areas. A number of applied results such as "Research and Application of Key Technologies for Comprehensive Utilization of Camphor Plant Resources", "Smart Agriculture Series Integrated Software", and "Industrial Internet Solution System Operation and Maintenance Capabilities and Big Data Engineering Research" have been fully applied in production practice, with significant economic and social benefits. It has trained more than 2,000 grassroots cadres and more than 70,000 educational talents of various types for local areas, and its educational service advantages are becoming increasingly prominent.

The characteristics of foreign cooperation are obvious. The school leverages internationalization to create a transformation and development feature. It is one of the first 15 pilot universities in the country of the "China-US Double Hundred Plan" of the Ministry of Education. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with 11 universities in five countries in the Mekong River Basin, and established cooperative relations with universities in 12 countries including Japan, Russia, and Australia. It has introduced international modern education concepts and foreign curriculum resources, innovated talent training models, and promoted international education. The school has established the Sino-US Institute of Applied Technology, the Sino-German Engineering College, and the Lancang-Mekong Chinese Language College to carry out education for international students in countries along the "Belt and Road" in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Implement a plan to improve students' international exchange capabilities and build overseas exchange and study programs for students in various forms and at rich levels. Combine introduction and cultivation to build an international teaching staff. Implement an international exchange plan for outstanding talents, and select a large number of teachers to exchange and study abroad; in recent years, it has hired 44 foreign teachers from 17 countries including Japan, Germany, and Russia.
