Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications

Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications is a general higher education institution with engineering as its main discipline and information science and technology as its feature. It is a multi-disciplinary university with coordinated development of engineering, management, science, economics, literature, law and art. It is an important base for talent training and scientific research in the information industry and modern postal industry in my country, especially in the northwest region.

The school was founded in the early days of the founding of New China. Its predecessor was the training class for postal and telecommunications personnel in Shaanxi and Gansu provinces established in 1950 and the subsequent Xi'an Post and Telecommunications School. In 1959, Xi'an Post and Telecommunications College was established with the approval of the State Council. It is the only general university of post and telecommunications in the northwest region that the country has focused on building. It was renamed Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2012. The school was successively affiliated to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Ministry of Information Industry. In 2000, it was transferred to Shaanxi Province. It is now jointly built by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It is a high-level university in Shaanxi, a "first-class university, first-class discipline" construction university in Shaanxi Province, a university implementing the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education, and the first batch of universities in the country to pilot preparatory classes for children of border defense soldiers. The only university in the northwest region that undertakes training tasks for the Asia-Pacific Telecommunications Organization and ASEAN.

In the long-term development process, the school motto of "patriotism, truth-seeking, and progress" has been condensed and formed, and the spirit of "hard work, self-improvement, pioneering and enterprising" has been promoted. Following the school-running philosophy of "unified teaching and research, open schooling, and equal emphasis on humanities and science", it has won a good academic reputation and social prestige. It was awarded the titles of "Advanced Collective" in Shaanxi Province, "Advanced Collective of Ideological and Political Education in Colleges and Universities" in Shaanxi Province, and "Civilized Campus" in Shaanxi Province by the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, and the title of "Model School for Governing Schools by Law" by the Provincial Department of Education, and the title of "Garden-style Unit" by the Xi'an Municipal People's Government.

The university is located in the southern suburbs of Xi'an, covering an area of ​​more than 1,500 acres. It has two campuses, Chang'an and Yanta, and currently has more than 19,000 students. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 284 million yuan, and the library has a collection of more than 1.67 million books. There are 18 teaching and scientific research units, including 2 national engineering laboratories, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national engineering practice education center, and 1 national off-campus practice education base for college students, as well as 26 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, research centers, and postdoctoral innovation bases. The school currently has 1 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization point, 13 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 9 master's professional degree authorization categories, 6 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, 1 Shaanxi Province "domestic first-class discipline construction university" construction discipline, engineering disciplines are among the top 1% of ESI disciplines in the world, and the school is listed in the US News 2022 World University Engineering Ranking Top 1000 Ranking (Mainland China Universities), ranking 183rd among mainland China universities; there are 48 undergraduate majors, including 3 national specialty majors, national professional comprehensive reform pilots, and 7 national first-class undergraduate major construction points. In July 2016, the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government and the State Post Bureau signed a contract to jointly build the Modern Postal College and Postal Research Institute of Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications.

The school currently has more than 1,500 faculty and staff, and more than 560 have senior professional titles. The school focuses on information science and technology disciplines, and focuses on the development, research and industrial application of high-tech. It has formed characteristics and advantages in research directions such as communication dedicated integrated circuit design, mobile communications, image processing, information security and information industry economy. Two achievements won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and "Tiger TePA" became the first international standard submitted and approved by my country in the field of basic common technology of information security. In recent years, the university has undertaken more than 600 national and provincial scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and the National Science and Technology Major Project, and has won more than 160 national and provincial scientific and technological achievements awards; the faculty and staff of the university have published more than 16,000 papers, of which more than 3,500 papers have been included in SCI and EI, and more than 800 national patents and software copyrights have been obtained, and more than 460 textbooks and works have been published.

The school adheres to open education and actively carries out international exchanges and school-enterprise cooperation. With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the undergraduate Sino-foreign cooperative education project of electronic information engineering was launched in 2015; with the approval of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, the 121 dual degree project experimental class of the "China-US Talent Training Program" for accounting majors began to recruit students in 2019. The school has established cooperative relations with more than 40 universities and academic institutions in more than a dozen countries such as Germany, the United States, Britain, France, and Hong Kong and Taiwan.
