Hexi University is a general undergraduate college in Gansu Province, a western university supported by Fudan University as determined by the Ministry of Education, a pilot college for the reform of the Ministry of Education's Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Education and Training Program, an advanced unit for national spiritual civilization construction, a provincial model unit for ethnic unity and progress, a master's degree project construction unit in Gansu Province, the first batch of national clinical teaching and training demonstration centers, and a national standardized training base for resident physicians.

Strategic Location Hexi University is located in Zhangye, a national historical and cultural city in the golden section of the Silk Road and the middle of the Hexi Corridor. It is the only comprehensive undergraduate college in the nearly 2,000-kilometer area from Lanzhou to Urumqi. The school's service area is mainly for the Hexi Corridor, Gansu and the surrounding four ethnic minority provinces of Xinjiang, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia. It has an important strategic position, unique regional advantages, rich natural resources, profound cultural endowment, and broad space for running schools and educating people.

History of School Hexi University originated from the Gansu Provincial Zhangye Normal School founded in 1941; Zhangye Normal College was established in 1958; it was changed to Zhangye Normal College in 1959; it was adjusted to Zhangye Normal School in 1962; Zhangye Normal College was restored in 1978; it was renamed Zhangye Normal College in 1992; it was merged into the former Zhangye Agricultural School and Zhangye Vocational Secondary School in 2000; it was upgraded to Hexi University in 2001; in 2014, the former Zhangye Medical College and Zhangye People's Hospital were merged into the school as a whole to form the new Hexi University; over the past 70 years, it has trained more than 100,000 graduates.

School conditions The school covers a total area of ​​nearly 4,000 acres, with a school building area of ​​590,000 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 1.8 billion yuan, a total value of experimental instruments and equipment of 214 million yuan, a collection of 1.44 million paper books, and 1.53 million electronic books; the school has a fully functional and advanced academic center and teacher teaching development center, and has built venues such as the Qian Xuesen Memorial Hall, the Hexi Corridor Biodiversity Hall, the Art and Creative Center, and the Hexi History and Culture Hall. The self-created dance drama "Yugu Fenghua" was included in the provincial high-end art into campus activities by the Education Department and toured in Lanzhou universities and 4 vocational colleges in Hexi. Foreign Exchange The school insists on open and open education. It has signed cooperation agreements with foreign universities such as Fort Hays State University and Bryant University in the United States; established cooperative relations with many universities in Hong Kong and Taiwan such as Taiwan Capital University and Universal University of Science and Technology; successively hired more than 140 cultural and educational experts from the United States, Britain, New Zealand and other countries to work in the school, and 3 of them won the "Dunhuang Award" for foreign experts in Gansu Province; carried out education for international students in 2016; set up the Central and West Asian Youth International College; the school was awarded the "Gansu Province Advanced Unit for Introducing Foreign Intelligence".

Counterpart support Fudan University has been supporting the school for eight years. The two schools have cooperated sincerely and continuously enriched the content of support. They have carried out substantive exchanges and cooperation in teacher training, academic exchanges and cooperation, mutual dispatch of cadres, and sharing of teaching resources. Among them, more than 300 teachers went to Fudan University for further study, 63 teachers studied for doctoral degrees, and 45 cadres were on duty, forming a "full-range, multi-level, high-density, high-level" work pattern and a new model of "counterpart support +", and achieved remarkable results.

Teaching support to Xinjiang The school has insisted on teaching support to Xinjiang for many years. It has sent 22 batches of more than 9,000 normal school students to Xinjiang for internships, which has effectively supported Xinjiang's basic education.
