Jiangsu Engineering Vocational and Technical College is a provincial public full-time general college. The school's history can be traced back to the first textile specialized school in my country founded by Mr. Zhang Jian, a famous patriotic industrialist and educator in 1912. It has a history of more than 100 years and has a profound cultural heritage. It has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents for the economic and social construction and development of Jiangsu and even the whole country. In 1999, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education and independently upgraded to "Nantong Textile Vocational and Technical College". In 2006, it achieved excellent results in the national assessment of talent training for higher vocational colleges. In 2007, it was identified as a demonstration higher vocational college construction unit in Jiangsu Province. In 2008, it was identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance as a project construction school for the "National Demonstration Higher Vocational College Construction Plan". In June 2011, it successfully passed the national acceptance and became a national demonstration higher vocational college. In May 2014, with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, the school was renamed Jiangsu Engineering Vocational and Technical College. In 2018, it was identified as a high-level higher vocational college construction unit in Jiangsu Province. In 2019, it was recognized as a "high-quality higher vocational college" by the Ministry of Education and successfully selected as a high-level professional group construction unit of the national "Double High Plan".

The school is located in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province, known as "China's first modern city", within the 1-hour economic circle of Shanghai, with convenient transportation and outstanding location advantages. The school covers an area of ​​710,627 square meters and has a building area of ​​393,541 square meters. The school has complete teaching facilities, advanced equipment, scientific teaching methods, and extensive use of modern educational technology, which has basically realized the informatization and electronicization of books. The school has 185 various types of laboratories and training rooms, including 12 laboratories (training) rooms invested and established by enterprises and named after them, and 16 productive training bases jointly built and shared with enterprises. It has a modern textile technology training base supported by the central government, a national home textile designer professional qualification training center, a vocational school sub-center of the "Online Education Digital Learning Resource Center Construction" project of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, a training base for high-skilled talents in China's textile and clothing, Jiangsu Province Advanced Textile Engineering Technology Center, Jiangsu Province Home Textile and Clothing Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, Jiangsu Province Wind and Solar Complementary Power Generation Research and Development Center, Jiangsu Province High-end Textile Industry-Education Deep Integration Integration Platform, Jiangsu Province Demonstration Training Base, Jiangsu Province Higher Education Talent Training Innovation Experimental Base, Jiangsu Province Intelligent Networked Vehicle Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, Jiangsu Province Basic Course Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute, and co-built the Haimen Binhai Production Training Base with the Haimen Municipal People's Government. The school cooperated with China Aviation Engineering Co., Ltd. to establish the Nantong Aviation Training Center, successfully obtained the CCAR147 aircraft maintenance training qualification and CCAR66 aircraft maintenance test site of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, and is the only vocational college in Jiangsu Province that has obtained both qualifications. The school cooperated with the German Kuka Group to build the Kuka Robot Jiangsu Application and Training Center, which is the designated training unit for skilled talents in East China of the Kuka Group.

The school currently has more than 10,000 full-time students and is a comprehensive university with engineering as its main body. It has 1 high-level professional group with Chinese characteristics, 7 national backbone majors, 4 key construction majors of national demonstration higher vocational colleges, 2 majors supported by the central government in the "Higher Vocational Schools to Improve Professional Service Industry Development Capacity Project", 4 high-level professional groups in Jiangsu Province, 2 first-phase construction projects of the Jiangsu Higher Education Brand Professional Construction Plan, 1 "Dual Certificate Pilot" major of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and 28 1+X certificate system pilot projects. The school currently has 5 national high-quality resource sharing courses, 16 Jiangsu Province high-quality online open courses, 9 selected "13th Five-Year Plan" national planning textbooks, and 20 Jiangsu Province key textbooks.
