WatchKnowLearn has collected nearly 50,000 educational videos and organized them into a catalog of more than 5,000 categories. Whether you are a teacher in the classroom or a parent and student at home, you can watch videos for free 24/7 without registration. Users can enter our original catalog to search a large number of videos by subject or age level. Video titles, descriptions, age groups and ratings are edited for validity. Our website uses a new wiki system under the guidance of teachers to invite broad participation. WatchKnowLearn does not store videos itself, but we are like a library, providing users with links to excellent teaching videos selected by educators. In 2008, Memphis-area philanthropists invited Wikipedia co-founder Dr. Larry Sanger to design and launch a new educational video library that would be managed by working teachers using the Wiki concept. Dr. Sanger served as the initial executive director of the project, along with Walter Henry as the marketing director. Kerry Matthews, former director of education for WatchKnowLearn, served as interim director in 2014. In 2015, Walter Henry returned as executive director after working on his doctorate at the University of Memphis. Since its founding, the site has displayed more than 50 million free educational videos to over a billion classroom students across the U.S. and around the world.
