[History of School] Gansu University of Political Science and Law is the only general undergraduate college of political science and law in Gansu Province. It is the earliest provincial undergraduate political science and law college in China. Its predecessor was the Gansu Provincial Political Science and Law Cadre School founded in 1956. In 1984, Gansu Institute of Political Science and Law was officially established to provide general higher education. The school obtained the qualification of a master's degree awarding institution in 2006, opened postgraduate education in 2007, and opened international student education in 2017. In the same year, it was identified as a project construction unit for the awarding of doctoral degrees in Gansu Province. It is one of the first batch of national excellent legal talent education and training bases, the second batch of national colleges and universities practice education innovation and entrepreneurship education bases, and a member of the "Lige Alliance" of national political science and law colleges. In June 2019, it was renamed Gansu University of Political Science and Law.

【Organization】The school has 15 colleges, 13 research bases approved by the provincial, ministerial and bureau departments, 5 independently established research institutions, 61 non-established research institutions at the school level, 4 provincial research and innovation teams, 5 school-level research and innovation teams, and 5 think tank teams of various types. There are 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers and 8 provincial teaching teams.

【School conditions】The school currently has three campuses: Anning West Road Campus, Lanzhou City, Anning Wanxin Road Campus, Lanzhou City, and Lanzhou New District Campus. The campus covers an area of ​​1,066.59 acres, the school building area is 400,600 square meters, the teaching, scientific research and administrative area is 155,700 square meters, the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 83.2283 million yuan, there are 1.4314 million paper books and 988,300 electronic books, a modern computer network service system, 65 professional teaching undergraduate laboratories, and 195 internship and training bases inside and outside the school, which can meet the needs of running schools.

【Talent Cultivation】Since its establishment, the school has cultivated more than 70,000 talents of all levels and types for the society, and a large number of advanced models have emerged. At present, the school has 12,608 full-time students, including 10,902 undergraduates and 1,567 postgraduates. Since 2016, it has won 11 provincial teaching achievement awards, and 19 provincial teaching achievement cultivation projects have been approved in the past two years.

【Teaching Staff】The school has a high-quality teaching staff that is adapted to the disciplines and majors, with 60.1% of teachers having senior professional titles and 91.5% of those with doctoral and master's degrees. [Subjects and Majors] The school currently has 37 undergraduate majors, covering six major disciplines including law, management, engineering, literature, economics, and art. There are two national first-class undergraduate majors in law and information security, and nine provincial first-class majors in public administration and business administration. At the same time, there are three provincial first-class disciplines, of which law is a dominant discipline in Gansu Province, and two disciplines such as evidence science and business administration are characteristic disciplines in Gansu Province. There are also eight provincial key disciplines. There are three first-level master's degree authorization points in law, business administration, and cyberspace security, 19 second-level master's degree authorization points, and 9 professional master's degree authorization points.

[Scientific Research] The school has strong scientific research capabilities. In the past five years, its scientific research results have won 27 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels, including one National Ethnic Affairs Commission Outstanding Social Science Achievement Award, and four first prizes and four second prizes for outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences in Gansu Province. From 2017 to 2021, the school undertook 119 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, including 33 National Social Science Fund and Natural Science Fund projects. It hosts two professional academic journals, "Journal of Gansu University of Political Science and Law" and "Western Law Review", of which "Journal of Gansu University of Political Science and Law" is selected as the source journal of the CSSCI extended version and the core Chinese journal of Peking University.

[Domestic and International Cooperation] The school actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation, and has established cooperative exchanges with foreign universities such as the University of Wolverhampton in the UK, the University of Central Oklahoma in the United States, the Vermont Law School in the United States, St. Petersburg University in Russia, Bishkek University of Humanities in Kyrgyzstan, Law University of Kazakhstan, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and domestic universities such as Jilin University and Qingdao University. It joined the Asian Forensic Science Association and initiated the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Law University Alliance as a member unit. In October 2017, the Ministry of Education decided that China University of Political Science and Law would provide counterpart support to our school.

[Think Tank Construction and Social Services] The school actively gives play to its disciplinary and professional advantages, and takes the initiative to serve the construction of the rule of law and local economic and social development. First, we will proactively provide strong practical talent support for the implementation of the comprehensive rule of law and the national strategy of governing Xinjiang, Tibet and border areas; second, we will give full play to the think tank role of the humanities and social sciences research base to provide intellectual support for the decision-making of the Party Committee and the government; third, we will carry out comparative studies on the rule of law in different countries and actively serve the construction of the "Silk Road Economic Belt"; fourth, we will give full play to the functions of scientific research service platforms such as the Key Laboratory of Evidence Science Research and Application, the Judicial Appraisal Center, and the Criminal Psychology Testing Center, promote the transformation and application of scientific research results, and provide scientific and technological services for fair justice.
