Inner Mongolia University of Technology

Inner Mongolia University of Technology is located in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Its predecessor was Suiyuan Provincial Advanced Industrial School founded in 1951. In 1958, Inner Mongolia Institute of Technology was established with the support of Tsinghua University and others. It was once affiliated with the Ministry of Machinery Industry and the Ministry of Agricultural Machinery. In 1983, it was transferred to the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and renamed Inner Mongolia University of Technology in 1993.

After 70 years of development, the school has been built into a multidisciplinary university with engineering as the main subject, combining engineering, science, literature, economics, law, management, agriculture and art, and has a complete talent training system for doctoral, master's and undergraduate students. There are 22 teaching units and 52 research institutes (institutes, centers); there are 5 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees. In addition, as a joint application unit, it jointly trains doctoral students in the first-level discipline of Marxist theory of Inner Mongolia University; there are 25 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees, including business administration, engineering management, architecture, translation, social work, electronic information, machinery, materials and chemical engineering, energy and power, civil engineering and water conservancy, transportation, applied statistics, law, resources and environment, landscape architecture and other 15 master's professional degree authorization categories. There are 2 first-class disciplines established for the construction of the autonomous region's "Double First-Class" projects; 2 postdoctoral research mobile stations. There are 77 undergraduate majors, involving 37 professional categories, and it has the qualification to recommend outstanding undergraduates to study for master's degrees without examination. The school currently has more than 23,600 undergraduate and junior college students and more than 4,400 doctoral and master's students.

The school currently has 3 national and ministerial scientific research platforms, 20 autonomous region-level key laboratories, 15 autonomous region-level engineering (technology) research centers, 20 other autonomous region-level research centers, demonstration bases and other scientific research platforms, 1 academician expert workstation, 2 postdoctoral research mobile stations, and 31 autonomous region-level innovation teams. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, it has undertaken more than 1,100 scientific research projects at the autonomous region level and above, including major national science and technology projects, national natural (social) science fund projects, and autonomous region major science and technology projects. It has won 1 second prize for national science and technology progress, 31 Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Science and Technology Awards, and 35 Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Achievements Government Awards. More than 3,000 papers have been included in retrieval systems such as SCI, EI, CPCI, and CSSCI. There is currently one national technology transfer broker training base, which has achieved more than 11 million yuan in the transfer and transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

The school currently has 2,068 faculty and staff, 1,449 full-time teachers, including 205 professors, 500 associate professors, 80 doctoral supervisors, and 639 master's supervisors. 90.82% of full-time teachers have obtained doctoral or master's degrees. 24 well-known scholars at home and abroad have been flexibly introduced as distinguished professors. Among the teachers, 3 were selected into the "National Hundred Thousand Talents Project", 91 people enjoyed special government allowances from the State Council or were awarded the title of "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions" by the state and autonomous region, 12 teachers won the "Inner Mongolia Outstanding Talent Award", 12 were selected into the "New Century Excellent Talent Support Program" of the Ministry of Education, 3 were selected as leading talents of the autonomous region's "Grassland Talents" project, 93 were selected into the autonomous region's "Grassland Talents" project, and 30 were selected into the autonomous region's "Higher Education Talents Support Program". The School of Materials Science and Engineering won the honorary title of "National Advanced Collective of the Education System", and 1 team won the first batch of Huang Danian-style teacher teams in national universities.

The school currently has 14 national first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 5 Ministry of Education characteristic professional construction sites, 4 Ministry of Education Excellent Engineer Training Program pilot majors, 1 national off-campus undergraduate engineering practice base, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, 1 national professional comprehensive reform pilot major, 1 national offline first-class undergraduate course, 2 national online and offline hybrid first-class undergraduate courses, 1 national Huang Danian-style teacher team, 7 autonomous region-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 1 autonomous region-level professional comprehensive reform pilot major, 4 autonomous region-level key construction majors, 25 autonomous region-level brand majors, 8 autonomous region-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 20 autonomous region-level teaching teams, 19 autonomous region teaching masters, and 12 autonomous region teaching newcomers.

The school is a "supporting college for the basic capacity building project (Phase II) of colleges and universities in the central and western regions", "national advanced colleges and universities for party building and ideological and political work", "national advanced collective for employment work in ordinary colleges and universities", and "national advanced unit for college students' mental health education". It has been awarded the honorary titles of "Advanced Education Collective", "Excellent Unit of Ideological and Political Work", "Advanced Unit of Spiritual Civilization", "Advanced College of Student Work", "Advanced Unit of Talent Work", "Advanced Collective of National Unity and Progress", "Civilized Campus", "Safe Campus", and "Demonstration College for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform" by the autonomous region.

The school adheres to the concept of open education and actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation. It has established and carried out substantive cooperation and exchanges with many famous domestic universities such as Tsinghua University and Tianjin University, as well as universities and research institutes in 22 countries (regions) such as Mongolia, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, and Canada. In 2005 and 2008, it became the enrollment unit of the "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Scholarship Program" and the "Chinese Government Scholarship Program" of the China Scholarship Council. Since 2018, it has been approved by the Ministry of Education for three consecutive years. The "Silk Road Scholarship Program" of the Ministry of Education was approved in 2019. It has signed cooperation agreements with local governments such as Hohhot, Baotou, Wuhai, and Ulanqab and many large and medium-sized enterprises to jointly build innovation centers and R&D platforms.

The school currently operates in Xincheng Campus, Jinchuan Campus, and Jungar Campus, covering an area of ​​3,227 acres, with a building area of ​​875,300 square meters and a total value of 756 million yuan in teaching and research equipment. The library adopts the "main library + branch library + subject library" construction model and the "large open, one-stop" service model. There are four buildings including the Xincheng Campus Main Library, the Jinchuan Campus Yifu Library, the Architecture Branch Library, and the Mechanical Branch Library, with a building area of ​​27,400 square meters. The library has 1.48 million paper books and 1.39 million electronic books. It has 95 Chinese and foreign databases and 224T of local storage.

Over the past 70 years, the school has trained more than 180,000 outstanding talents who have worked in all walks of life across the country. Many of them have become leaders and technical backbones of large and medium-sized enterprises, experts and scholars of universities or research institutes, and important leading cadres of the Party and the government.
