Jilin University

Jilin University is a national key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, located in Changchun City, Jilin Province. The school was founded in 1946, listed as a national key university in 1960, and became one of the first 22 universities to establish a graduate school in 1984. In 1995, it was approved by the State Education Commission's "211 Project". In 2001, it was included in the "985 Project" national key construction universities, and in 2017 it was selected as a national first-class university construction university.

In 2000, the former Jilin University, Jilin University of Technology, Bethune Medical University, Changchun University of Science and Technology, and Changchun University of Posts and Telecommunications merged to form the new Jilin University. In 2004, the former Chinese People's Liberation Army Quartermaster University was transferred and merged.

The school has a complete range of disciplines, with 52 teaching units, covering 13 major disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, art, and interdisciplinary disciplines; there are 140 undergraduate majors, 61 first-level master's degree authorization points, 48 ​​first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 2 interdisciplinary doctoral degree authorization points, 33 master's professional degree authorization points, and 4 doctoral professional degree authorization points; 44 postdoctoral research mobile stations; there are 4 first-level national key disciplines (covering 17 second-level disciplines), 15 second-level national key disciplines, and 4 national key (cultivation) disciplines. The ESI rankings of 18 disciplines (fields) are in the top 1% in the world, and 2 of them are in the top 1‰ in the world.

The school has a strong faculty, with 6,506 full-time teachers, including 2,357 professors. There are 11 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 7 senior professors of philosophy and social sciences, 51 external outstanding professors, 20 members of the subject evaluation group of the State Council Academic Degree Committee, 61 selected candidates of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program", 6 national teaching masters, 30 experts selected for the National "Million Talents Program", 38 winners of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, 48 winners of the National Excellent Youth Fund, and 152 experts selected for the Jilin Province "Changbai Mountain Scholars".

The school currently has 5 national key laboratories, 1 national engineering laboratory, 6 national and local joint engineering laboratories, 1 national engineering technology research center, 4 national international science and technology cooperation bases, 6 key research bases of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, 11 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education (including 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education under construction), 5 engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education, 1 joint laboratory of international cooperation of the Ministry of Education, 4 collaborative innovation centers jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Provinces, 1 field scientific observation and research station of the Ministry of Education, and 21 key laboratories of other industry ministries and commissions. The school has undertaken a large number of national and provincial scientific research projects, and produced a number of high-tech achievements with good industrialization prospects and high technical content.

The school has established a complete high-level talent training system of bachelor-master-doctor. There are 73,058 students (69,940 full-time and 3,121 part-time), including 144 preparatory students, 41,537 undergraduates, 21,283 master students (18,566 full-time and 2,717 part-time), 8,908 doctoral students (8,504 full-time and 404 part-time), and 1,172 international students.

The school focuses on cooperation with famous universities and gradually improves its global network layout. It has established cooperative relations with 302 universities and research institutions in 40 countries and regions. Among them, 48 are ranked in the top 100 in the world and 67 are ranked in the top 200. The school has cooperated with universities and research institutions in 12 countries to build 40 Sino-foreign cooperation platforms.

The school campus covers an area of ​​7.29 million square meters (including 1.49 million square meters in Zhuhai Campus), and the school building area is 2.73 million square meters. The school has a Zhuhai Campus in Zhuhai City, covering an area of ​​1.49 million square meters. The school library has a collection of 7.9531 million books of various types. It is the Northeast Regional Center of the China Higher Education Document Assurance System (CALIS), a member library of the University Digital Library International Cooperation Program (CADAL) project, and the Northeast Regional Center of the Chinese University Humanities and Social Sciences Documentation Center (CASHL).
