Changchun University of Chinese Medicine

The school originated from Changchun Municipal School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was established in 1950. Its predecessor was Changchun College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was established in 1958. It was renamed Changchun University of Chinese Medicine in 2006. The school is a key university of Jilin Province, a university of the National Central and Western University Basic Capacity Construction Project, a university jointly built by the People's Government of Jilin Province and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a university of Jilin Province's characteristic high-level university construction.

The school has always adhered to the school motto of "opening up the past and embracing the present, being virtuous and skilled", firmly grasped the fundamental task of cultivating morality and educating people, and formed a multi-level and multi-type talent training pattern from undergraduate education to master and doctoral graduate education, as well as higher vocational education, continuing education, and international student education. It has trained more than 50,000 talents of all levels and types for the country, and alumni are all over the world. The school highlights the characteristics and advantages of traditional Chinese medicine, combines production, learning and research, and continuously improves its contribution to regional economic and social development.

The school currently has 13,694 full-time students, including 10,804 undergraduates and 2,679 postgraduates. There are 139 doctoral supervisors and 695 master supervisors. The school has 1 academician (dual appointment), 3 national medical masters, 1 Bethune Medal, 1 "Yangtze River Scholar", 1 chief scientist of the National 973 Project, 2 national leaders of traditional Chinese medicine "Qihuang Scholars", 1 national 100,000 Talent Project, 4 national outstanding teachers, 2 national famous Chinese medicine practitioners, 2 national teaching masters of traditional Chinese medicine colleges, 41 people enjoying special allowances from the State Council, 2 people in the New Century Excellent Talent Program of the Ministry of Education, and 25 national old traditional Chinese medicine experts and experts in academic experience inheritance work instructors.

The school focuses on TCM disciplines, and has coordinated development of medicine, engineering, management, law, and literature. It has 2 first-level postdoctoral mobile stations, 2 first-level doctoral degree authorization points, 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point, 6 first-level master's degree authorization points, and 5 master's professional degree authorization points. There are 19 key disciplines of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, 4 high-level disciplines with characteristics of Jilin Province, and 2 provincial top-priority disciplines. The school has 23 undergraduate majors, including 3 national first-class professional construction points, 4 national characteristic professional construction points, and 1 national professional comprehensive reform pilot major. There is 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone. There are 5 national first-class undergraduate courses, 2 national quality resource sharing courses, 3 national quality courses, 2 national virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, and 58 planned textbooks edited and planned.

The school has strong scientific research strength, with 58 major key scientific and technological projects such as the National Key R&D Program Project, the "973" Project, the Fourth Chinese Medicine Resource Survey Project, the National Natural Science Foundation Regional Innovation Development Joint Fund Project, and the National Social Science Fund Project. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", 512 high-level scientific research results were achieved, including 2 national teaching achievement awards, 1 Jilin Province Teaching Achievement Special Award, 5 Provincial Science and Technology Progress First Prizes, and 1 Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement First Prize. There are 78 national and provincial scientific research platforms such as the Changchun National Bio-Industry Base Pharmaceutical Pilot Platform, the National Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Inspection Technology Platform (North), and the Jilin Province Xi Jinping New Era Socialist Thought Education Research Collaborative Innovation Center.

The school is the first batch of institutions approved by the Ministry of Education to accept and train foreign students and students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao and Chinese government scholarship students in China, and has carried out extensive academic exchanges and cooperation with universities and research institutions in 21 countries and regions.

The construction and development of the school has been widely praised by all sectors of society and fully affirmed by governments at all levels. It is a national-level cultural quality education base for college students, a national traditional Chinese medicine cultural publicity and education base, and a national popular science education base. It has won the titles of "National Civilized Unit" and "National Civilized Campus", and has been awarded the titles of "National University with Typical Experience in Graduate Employment" and "National University with Typical Experience in Innovation and Entrepreneurship" by the Ministry of Education. The School of Basic Medicine has won the title of "National Advanced Collective in the Education System"; the affiliated hospital has won the titles of "National May 1st Labor Award", "National Advanced Collective in the Health System", and "National Advanced Collective in Foreign Aid Medical Work".

The school has taken advantage of the advantages of medical schools and taken the initiative in the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. 47 medical staff were selected to form two traditional Chinese medicine medical teams to help Wuhan fight the epidemic. They achieved the "five zero" impressive results of zero patient deaths, zero medical infection, zero safety accidents, zero complaints from personnel, and zero recurrence of cures at Leishenshan Hospital; 75 medical workers were selected to support Jilin City and Shulan City, and went deep into Changchun, Nong'an and other places to carry out treatment, interpreting the original intention and mission of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners in the new era with practical actions. The school's affiliated hospital won the titles of "National Advanced Collective in Fighting the New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic" and "National Advanced Grassroots Party Organization".
