Beihua University

Beihua University is the largest comprehensive university in Jilin Province. It is a university jointly established by the Jilin Provincial People's Government and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. Approved by the Ministry of Education in September 1999, it was formed by the merger of the former Jilin Normal College, Jilin Medical College, Jilin Forestry College, and Jilin Electrification College. The predecessors of the four schools were Jilin Junior Normal School founded in 1906, Jilin Private Midwifery School founded in 1928, Jilin Forestry School founded in 1952, and Jilin Provincial Vocational School founded in 1920. The school is located in Jilin City, Jilin Province, the charming city of rime and China.

The school currently has three campuses in the east, south, and north, and an affiliated hospital. It covers an area of ​​2.69 million square meters (including teaching and experimental bases) and a building area of ​​728,200 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 510 million yuan, and the library has 3.729 million books. There are 28 colleges and 1 engineering training center. There are 26,945 full-time students of various types, including 2,244 master's students, 24,165 undergraduates, 51 junior college students, and 485 international students in China.

The school currently has 1,700 full-time teachers, including 954 senior titles; 18 doctoral supervisors, 694 master's supervisors; 4 academicians of the two academies, 1 academician of the American International Academy of Wood Sciences, 49 national talent titles such as "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" Hundred Thousand Talents Project Leading Talents, New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project National Candidates (first level), State Council Government Special Allowances, etc., and more than 100 provincial talent titles such as Provincial (Senior) Senior Experts, Provincial Top Innovative Talents, and Provincial Young and Middle-aged Professional and Technical Talents with Outstanding Contributions.

The school currently has 89 undergraduate majors, 20 first-level master's degree authorization points, 15 master's professional degree categories (fields), covering 11 disciplines; it has formed a discipline and professional system led by 12 provincial key disciplines, 15 national first-class and characteristic majors, and 19 provincial first-class and characteristic high-level majors. It has 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 2 national off-campus practice bases for college students. The School of Marxism is the first batch of key Marxist colleges in Jilin Province.

The school has 51 national and provincial scientific research platforms such as the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory and the Key Laboratory of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, and 18 provincial innovation teams. The school is the chairman unit of the Forest Health Branch of the Jilin Forestry Society, and the Forest Medicine Innovation Platform is a provincial advantage and characteristic innovation cross-platform. It was the first among the comprehensive universities in the country to establish an ice and snow college and form an ice and snow education alliance to serve the development of the ice and snow industry. The series of key common technology achievements in the manufacture of wood-based panels from formaldehyde-free agricultural and forestry residues filled the domestic gap and won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, which promoted the company's production increase by 25 billion yuan in three years; the forest fire prediction and forecasting technology supported Jilin Province to have no major forest fires for 40 consecutive years, effectively maintaining the ecological security of the forest; the school's aerospace research team participated in the design and development of the ground test equipment of the Chang'e 5 sampling system throughout the process, and built a ground test "Guanghan Palace" for Chang'e 5; the Changbai Series, a large-scale historical document of the East Asian region compiled by the world history discipline, enjoys a high reputation in the academic circles at home and abroad. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, more than 60 national-level projects such as national key research and development projects and major projects of the National Social Science Fund were approved; and 115 scientific research awards at or above the provincial level were won.

In the long-term practice of running schools, the school has formed a talent training system of "one main diversity, innovative practice". The school has established a practical teaching base support system with more than 20 national and provincial teaching platforms as the main body, including the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the National College Students' Off-campus Practice Education Base. It has carried out fruitful college students' innovation and entrepreneurship practice education activities, formed a series of brands such as the "Challenge Cup", e-sports competitions, and mechanical innovation design competitions, and won 161 national first prizes, and was awarded the "National Huang Danian-style Teacher Team" and the National Teaching Achievement Second Prize. The Beihua University Dragon Boat Team has won 73 gold medals in major international and domestic dragon boat competitions, and represented Jilin Province in the 13th National Games and the 14th National Winter Games, winning 7 gold medals. Ai Zeming was awarded the national honorary title of "National Advanced Individual in Fighting the New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic", and is the only college student in the country to receive this honor.

The school has established cooperative relations with 68 colleges or educational institutions in 20 countries and regions, and has carried out various forms of cooperative training for undergraduates and postgraduates. It has carried out Sino-foreign cooperative education projects for undergraduate majors with three universities in the United States, the United Kingdom and Finland, and co-built a Confucius Institute with Gangwon University in South Korea. The school is the second batch of national demonstration bases for studying in China, accepts Chinese government scholarships and Confucius Institute scholarships for international students, and is a qualified school for international students in clinical medicine (English-taught) undergraduate education. It has been rated as an advanced collective for international students in China.

The school has effectively expanded adult and continuing education, and has formed a multi-form, multi-level, multi-standard, and multi-channel school-running model including adult higher education, continuing education, self-study examinations, and vocational skills training. There are 16,533 students in continuing education.

The school is a national civilized unit, a national college student cultural quality education base, a language and writing application training base of the National Language Committee, the first batch of national pilot universities for the reform of the Excellent Doctor and Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Training Program, a national college student innovation and entrepreneurship training program project school, a typical experience university for college graduates in employment, and a national college practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base.
