Huaiyin Normal University is located in Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, a national historical and cultural city with beautiful scenery and rich humanities, and the hometown of Premier Zhou Enlai. It is a higher education institution in Jiangsu Province with teacher education as its main feature and the right to confer master's degrees.

In the more than 60 years of higher education, Huaiyin Normal University has kept pace with the times and shared the fate of the nation, and has made important contributions to local basic education and regional economic and social development. Especially since the reform and opening up, the school has adhered to the Huaiyin Normal University spirit of "sticking to simplicity and pursuing lofty" and the school motto of "respecting morality, inspiring, erudition, and practicing", and insisted on running schools and educating people with the spirit of Zhou Enlai, maintaining a good development trend in teaching, scientific research, talent training and social services, and various school indicators and comprehensive strengths have continued to improve. The school currently has two campuses, Changjiang Road and Jiaotong Road, covering an area of ​​nearly 2,000 acres and a school building area of ​​630,000 square meters. There are 17 secondary colleges, and the professional settings cover 9 disciplines including science, engineering, economics, law, education, literature, history, management, and art. There are more than 20,000 full-time high school students and nearly 100 joint master's students.

The school passed the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2002, and obtained the excellent level of undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education in 2007. In 2014, as one of the three pilot assessment universities in the province, it successfully passed the undergraduate teaching work review and assessment. In 2021, the university was approved to grant master's degrees and authorized master's degrees, and 8 normal education majors passed the second-level certification of the Ministry of Education. In recent years, students have won gold and silver in the "Internet +" National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the "Challenge Cup" National College Student Extracurricular Academic and Scientific Works Competition, the "Chuang Qingchun" National College Student Entrepreneurship Competition, the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, and the Electronic Design Competition. The school has a reasonable faculty structure and outstanding talents. Zhou Benchun, an expert in ancient book compilation, Yu Beishan, an expert in Song Dynasty literature research, Xiao Bing, an expert in Chuci research, Cheng Zhongyuan, an expert in party history research, and Min Kangsheng, an expert in Lu Xun research, have all worked and lived here. There are nearly 1,300 full-time teachers, including nearly 200 with senior professional titles, more than 520 teachers with doctoral degrees, and more than 90% of teachers with master's degrees or above. The school has carried out extensive international cooperation and exchanges, and has established friendly cooperative relations with 60 universities in 15 countries (regions) including the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Finland, Italy, and Taiwan. It has established undergraduate dual degree, master's, and doctoral joint training programs with the University of North Alabama, the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts, and the University of Nottingham, the United Kingdom, respectively. The Sino-foreign cooperative education project in primary education jointly carried out with Sam Houston State University in the United States has achieved remarkable results. More than 20 two-way exchange projects between teachers and students have been established with many universities such as Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences in Finland, National University of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Yamanashi Eiwa University in Japan, Soochow University in Taiwan, I-Shou University, and Xuanzang University. The featured project "Cross-Strait University Canal Culture Experience Camp" has gradually formed a brand. In 2020 and 2021, it was selected into the Jiangsu-Canada University Cooperation Alliance and the Jiangsu-Korea University Cooperation Alliance. In recent years, our school has sent more than 1,000 students abroad for study, training and exchange, and received more than 600 overseas students for study and exchange for long-term and short-term study.

The school gives full play to its advantages in talent training, scientific research, intellectual support, etc., and actively cooperates with local governments, enterprises and institutions in all aspects to provide strong intellectual support for local economic construction. The school has established provincial key research bases such as the Teacher Education Collaborative Innovation Research Center and the Cultural Entrepreneurship Industry Research Center. The Huai'an Branch of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt Construction Research Institute, the Huaihe Ecological Economic Belt Research Institute, the Huai'an Rural Revitalization College, and the Huai'an E-commerce College have produced good social impacts and economic benefits, and many decision-making advisory reports have been adopted by the central and local governments.
