China Pharmaceutical University

Located in the ancient capital of Nanjing, China Pharmaceutical University was founded in 1936 and is the first pharmaceutical university in my country's history. The university is directly under the Ministry of Education and is a national "211 Project" and "985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" university. It is a multidisciplinary, research-oriented university with pharmacy as its specialty. The construction of the pharmaceutical discipline group led by pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine has always maintained a leading domestic level and is known as the "cradle of Chinese biomedical talents". In 2017, it became a national "double first-class" construction university.

The school currently has two campuses, Xuanwumen and Jiangning, covering an area of ​​more than 2,100 acres; there are 18,802 full-time students, including 6,894 graduate students and 504 international students; there are 1,799 faculty and staff, including 1,077 full-time teachers. The school has gathered many well-known experts in the field of medicine, and has produced 10 academicians and a large number of famous experts and scholars in the field of pharmacy. There are currently 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of the German Academy of Sciences, 13 national high-level talents, and 26 national high-level young talents. Since 2000, it has won the first prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award (four-year session), the highest government award in the field of education in my country, four times. The employment rate of graduates has long been at the forefront of universities directly under the Ministry of Education and universities in Jiangsu Province.

The school is committed to building a world-class modern pharmacy discipline system with "big pharmacy + X" as the driving force and "new pharmacy" as the feature. There are 16 schools, 31 undergraduate majors (categories), 3 first-level doctoral degree authorization points (Pharmacy, Chinese Medicine, Biology), 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point (Biology and Medicine), 8 first-level master's degree authorization points, 5 master's professional degree authorization points, and 2 postdoctoral mobile stations (Pharmacy, Chinese Medicine). In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, the pharmacy discipline was rated A+. The Chinese Medicine discipline was selected as a national "Double First-Class" construction discipline. In 2022, the ESI rankings of 6 disciplines including pharmacology and toxicology, chemistry, clinical medicine, biology and biochemistry, materials science, and agricultural science will enter the top 1% in the world, among which the pharmacology and toxicology discipline ranks in the top 1‰ (2.4 per 10,000) in the world, ranking 26th in the world and 1st in Asian universities. In the 2022 US News World University Rankings, the pharmacology and toxicology discipline ranks 13th in the world and 1st in Asia. In the subject rankings of the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), the medicinal chemistry discipline ranks 3rd in the world. In the 2021 Soft Science Ranking of the Best Disciplines in China, the disciplines of pharmacy and Chinese medicine ranked first and second in China respectively, and both entered the "Top Disciplines in China".

The school actively serves the country's major strategies and continuously improves its independent innovation capabilities in new drug research and development. It has established the National Key Laboratory of "Active Components and Efficacy of Natural Drugs" and provincial and ministerial key laboratories, engineering technology centers and innovation platforms, achieving full coverage of scientific research platforms in the three major fields of chemical drugs, traditional Chinese medicine, and biological drugs, and providing full-range services for the research and development of various new drugs. It has established substantive academic cooperation relations with colleges and scientific research institutions in more than 40 countries and regions overseas. In recent years, it has won 4 second prizes in the National Science and Technology Progress Award and 1 second prize in the National Technological Invention Award, and the number of major national "Major New Drug Creation" science and technology projects approved has remained the highest among universities in the country.
