Yancheng Institute of Technology

Yancheng Institute of Technology is a full-time general undergraduate college in Jiangsu Province. It is located in Yancheng, a coastal open city known as the "Oriental Wetland Capital and the Hometown of Cranes and Elks". It has two campuses, Jianjun East Road and Hope Avenue.

The school was formed in May 1996 by the merger of Yancheng Industrial College and Yancheng Vocational University. Yancheng Industrial College (originally named Yancheng Institute of Technology) was founded in 1958 and became one of the three national model higher industrial colleges in the field of building materials in 1986; Yancheng Vocational University was founded in 1985. In 2000, Yancheng Accounting School, founded in 1964, was merged into Yancheng Institute of Technology. In 2018, it was approved as a "Master's Degree Awarding Institution".

For half a century, especially since the mid-1990s, Yancheng Institute of Technology has adhered to the school motto of "Studying with Diligence, Being Virtuous and Practicing", carried forward the "Iron Army Spirit" of the New Fourth Army, and practiced the mainstream campus values ​​of "advocating science, daring to innovate, daring to take responsibility, and pursuing excellence". The school has 18 secondary colleges and 76 undergraduate majors, and recruits students from 30 provinces (municipalities, autonomous regions) across the country. There are more than 23,000 full-time undergraduates and more than 700 graduate students. The school covers an area of ​​2,275.5 acres, with a building area of ​​611,000 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 2.265 billion yuan, and a total teaching and research equipment value of 349 million yuan. The library has a collection of more than 1.92 million books and 35 Chinese and foreign databases. The social science edition of the Journal of Yancheng Institute of Technology is an excellent social science journal in national universities and an extended journal of AMI Comprehensive Evaluation (A Journal), and the natural science edition is a journal included in the American Chemical Abstracts.

The school currently has nearly 1,700 faculty and staff, more than 1,300 full-time teachers, including more than 700 senior titles, more than 600 doctors, and more than 260 graduate tutors. There are 5 Yangtze River Scholars, 28 specially appointed professors, and more than 180 part-time professors. There are more than 400 recipients of special allowances from the State Council, provincial and municipal governments, candidates for the provincial "333 Project", "Qinglan Project", and "Six Talent Peaks", and 18 provincial teaching masters, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in provinces and cities.

The school actively adapts to the needs of Jiangsu's coastal development, local economic construction, and the development of the building materials industry, and strengthens discipline construction and scientific research. Three disciplines, namely engineering science, materials science and chemistry, are ranked in the top 1% of the global ESI ranking; it has 6 provincial key disciplines, 2 first-level master's degree programs, and 8 master's professional degree categories. The school has a ministerial-level science and technology search workstation of the Ministry of Education.

In recent years, the school has been approved for 239 national projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Social Science Foundation, and more than 400 provincial and ministerial projects; 112 provincial and above awards, including 2 second prizes for outstanding scientific research achievements in colleges and universities, 20 Jiangsu Science and Technology Awards, and 4 provincial outstanding achievements in philosophy and social sciences; 4,466 articles included in SCI and EI have been published; 1,699 invention patents have been authorized, including 232 invention patents authorized in 2021. According to statistics from authoritative institutions, the number of patent transfers of the school has reached 604, ranking 22nd among universities nationwide.

The school has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 40 universities in 14 countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Australia, Poland, Sweden, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Hong Kong and Taiwan, and carried out inter-school exchanges and scientific research cooperation projects such as mutual recognition of credits and joint training of masters. The school has held three Sino-foreign cooperative education projects approved by the Ministry of Education with the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom and the University of Detroit in the United States.
