Nanning Normal University is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is an undergraduate normal university organized by the People's Government of the Autonomous Region. Nanning is located in the subtropics and south of the Tropic of Cancer. It is the core city of the Beibu Gulf urban agglomeration, the central city of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, the comprehensive transportation hub connecting the southwest region to the sea, the permanent venue of the China-ASEAN Expo, and the important gateway city for the organic connection of the national "Belt and Road" Maritime Silk Road. The city is full of green and evergreen all year round, and is known as the "China Green City".

The four campuses of Nanning Normal University, Wuhe, Wuming, Mingxiu and Changgang, are located between the green land and green mountains of Nanning, covering a total area of ​​3,383.1 acres. The school library has a collection of 2.2443 million books and 2.8308 million electronic books. A forging ahead development process. The predecessor of the school was the Guangxi Secondary School Teachers’ Training College, which was founded in October 1953. It was renamed Guangxi Teachers’ Training College in December of the same year; it was renamed Nanning Normal University in July 1960, merged into Guangxi University for Nationalities in September of the same year, and restored to Guangxi Teachers’ Training College in September 1961; it was renamed Guangxi Education College in July 1966; it started full-time general undergraduate education in December 1978; it was renamed Nanning Normal University in February 1979; it was renamed Guangxi Normal University in May 1985; it started full-time postgraduate education in June 1998; in December 2002, Nanning Normal School for Nationalities, founded in 1905, was merged into the school; in January 2015, the school’s Wuhe campus was put into use; on November 30, 2018, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education and renamed Nanning Normal University; in August 2019, the school’s Wuming campus was put into use. In more than 60 years of school-running practice, the school has condensed the school motto of "cultivating both moral and talented people, integrating knowledge and practice", and has trained more than 130,000 applied senior professionals serving basic education and local economic and social development. As of the end of September 2021, there are 22,204 full-time undergraduates, 2,954 postgraduates, 230 junior college students, and 287 preparatory students.

It has been identified by the Ministry of Education as the National College Counselor Development Research Center, the College Ideological and Political Work Team Training and Research Center, and the National Language Promotion Base. It has been identified by the Autonomous Region as the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Research Center, the Guangxi Vocational Education Development Research Center, the Guangxi Guangxi-Taiwan Humanities Exchange Research Center, the Autonomous Region Demonstration Teacher Education Base, the Guangxi Education Science Key Research Base, the Guangxi College Student Entrepreneurship Demonstration Base, and the Guangxi Undergraduate Education Development Research Institute. It has a number of key research bases of the Propaganda Department of the Autonomous Region Party Committee, intangible cultural heritage inheritance bases, school-enterprise co-construction science and technology innovation platforms, provincial teacher teaching development centers, and provincial teacher innovation and entrepreneurship development centers. There is 1 national off-campus practice education base for college students, 28 autonomous region-level postgraduate joint training bases, 5 autonomous region-level experimental teaching demonstration centers, 6 autonomous region-level virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, and 34 autonomous region-level teacher education practice bases.

A knowledgeable and refined faculty. The school implements the "talent-strengthening school" strategy and actively innovates the talent introduction and cultivation mechanism. There are more than 1,200 full-time teachers, more than 1,000 teachers with master's degrees or above; the structure of the faculty is constantly optimized, with more than 600 teachers with senior professional and technical positions; there are 44 doctoral supervisors and 499 master's supervisors. There are 11 national first-class/quality courses, 89 autonomous region first-class/quality courses, and 3 exemplary modern industrial colleges of Guangxi general colleges. 3 master's degree theses were rated as national excellent master's degree theses; there is 1 national advanced class collective, 1 person was shortlisted for the top 200 "Chinese College Students of the Year", and 1 person won the National "May 1st" Labor Medal. Since 2016, the university has won 7,605 awards in various discipline competitions at the national and regional levels, including 473 national awards, including the first prize of the National Normal College Normal Students Teaching Skills Competition, the first prize of the National College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition, the first prize of the National College Students Electronic Design Competition, the first prize of the National College Students Advertising Art Competition, the first prize of the Chinese Classics Recitation, Writing and Speaking Competition, and the champion of the Guangxi Trial of the China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
