Guangxi University for Nationalities is a comprehensive ethnic higher education institution established by the Party and the State to solve domestic ethnic issues, promote the common prosperity and development of all ethnic groups, and cultivate party and government cadres and various professional and technical personnel of ethnic minorities in Guangxi; Guangxi University for Nationalities is a university jointly established by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a university under the National Central and Western College Basic Capacity Construction Project, and a key university in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Guangxi University for Nationalities is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, which is picturesque all year round. It has three campuses: Xiangsi Lake, Siyuan Lake and Wuming, covering an area of ​​about 3,600 acres. The campus environment is beautiful and quiet, the architectural style is simple and elegant, the humanistic atmosphere is deep and rich, and it has distinct Zhuang ethnic characteristics and Southeast Asian exotic customs. It is an ideal place for studying and research. It was selected as one of the nine most poetic universities in China by "Global Human Geography".

Guangxi University for Nationalities was founded in 1952. It was originally the Guangxi Branch of the Central University for Nationalities (now the Central University for Nationalities). It was renamed Guangxi University for Nationalities in 1953, Guangxi University for Nationalities in 1958, and Guangxi University for Nationalities in 2006. In the long history of running schools, the school has forged the school motto of "virtue, erudition, harmony and difference", formed the school spirit of "unity and progress, inheritance and innovation", the teaching style of "excellence", and the style of study of "diligent study and practice", and condensed the distinctive school characteristics of "nationality, regionality, and internationality".

The construction and development of Guangxi University for Nationalities has received much attention and attention from the Party and the country. In 1958, Chairman Mao Zedong met with representatives of our teachers and students in Nanning People's Park; in November 1990, General Secretary Jiang Zemin visited the school and praised the beautiful environment of the school as a good place to study and learn. In November 2006, when President Hu Jintao visited Vietnam, he cordially met with representatives of our teachers and students who were giving lectures and studying in Vietnam; in May 2010, Xi Jinping, then Vice President of the State, visited the school and encouraged our teachers and students to be more eager to study, achieve success in learning, and become builders and successors of the socialist cause. In October 2013, Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited the school for inspection and research. In April 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping cordially met with student representatives of our school when he visited Guangxi and attended a symposium with grassroots representatives.

Guangxi University for Nationalities has steadily consolidated its foundation for running schools and has a complete talent training system. There are 29,857 full-time students, and ethnic minority students account for more than 50% of the total number of students. There are 24 teaching colleges, covering 11 disciplines including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management, and art. It has 1 postdoctoral research station (ethnology) and 2 postdoctoral research bases; 5 first-level doctoral degree authorization points (ethnology, Chinese language and literature, foreign language and literature, chemical engineering and technology, history of science and technology); 17 first-level master's degree authorization points, 17 master's professional degree authorization categories; 3 Guangxi first-class disciplines, 2 Guangxi first-class (cultivation) disciplines; 84 full-time general undergraduate majors, 13 national first-class undergraduate majors, 12 autonomous region first-class undergraduate majors; 3 national first-class undergraduate courses, 29 autonomous region first-class undergraduate courses.

Guangxi University for Nationalities has a gathering of famous teachers and talents. There are 2,395 faculty members, including 1,530 full-time teachers, 660 teachers with senior professional titles, 543 teachers with doctoral degrees, 113 doctoral supervisors, and 674 master's supervisors. There are more than 100 national and provincial talents, including national "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" philosophy and social science leaders, experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, national outstanding teachers, cultural celebrities of the Central Propaganda Department and "Four Batches" talents, talents of the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Program", and Guangxi Bagui Scholars.

Guangxi University for Nationalities actively conducts scientific research and continuously promotes scientific and technological innovation. In the past five years, it has won 148 national scientific research projects (including 8 major projects of the National Social Science Fund) and 447 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects; 3 national scientific research achievement awards and 139 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievement awards; there is currently 1 national scientific research platform, 39 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, and 12 departmental and bureau-level scientific research platforms. Journal of Guangxi University for Nationalities (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition) has won honorary titles such as "National Journal Award 100 Key Journals", "China's Top 100 Newspapers and Periodicals", and "National University Social Science Journal". It is a CSSCI source journal, a Chinese core journal, a Chinese humanities and social science core journal, and a journal funded by the National Social Science Fund.

Guangxi University for Nationalities has always adhered to serving the national "Belt and Road" initiative and the overall situation of Guangxi's opening up and development, and vigorously implemented internationalized education. It has fully played the leading role of China's opening up and cooperation with ASEAN, and established Confucius Institutes in Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia. It has successively awarded honorary doctoral degrees in literature to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bunrani Hun Sen. Former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk, Prime Minister Hun Sen, former Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong, Thai Princess Sirindhorn, former Lao Prime Minister Bousone and other ASEAN dignitaries have visited the school. The school has established substantive exchanges and cooperation with 176 universities and institutions in 22 countries and regions. So far, it has recruited more than 20,000 international students from 82 countries and regions around the world, and sent nearly 17,000 students to study abroad.

Guangxi University for Nationalities has produced many outstanding students. Since its establishment, it has cultivated many experts and scholars, party and government leaders, and well-known entrepreneurs. There are also a large number of graduates who are rooted in the grassroots and benefit the local area, such as Mo Zhengao, "The Person Who Moved China in 2015", Gong Yunchong, "The First Person to Guard the Reefs in Nansha", and "Top Ten Outstanding Youths in the Country", and have provided the country with more than 300,000 ethnic elites and national pillars. With a solid professional foundation, pragmatic work style, and good character of hard work and perseverance, they have made positive contributions to maintaining national unity and border stability, promoting ethnic unity and progress, and Guangxi's economic and social development.

Guangxi University for Nationalities has achieved fruitful results in all aspects of its work.
