Guizhou Normal University

The predecessor of Guizhou Normal University, "National Guiyang Normal College", was founded in 1941 and was one of the eight national normal colleges in the country at that time. In October 1950, it was renamed "Guiyang Normal College"; in October 1954, the Ministry of Education entrusted the Guizhou Provincial People's Government to manage it; in 1985, it was renamed "Guizhou Normal University". In 1996, it was identified as a provincial key university by the Guizhou Provincial People's Government; in 2015, it became a higher education institution jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Guizhou Provincial People's Government; in 2017, it was selected as the "first batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform".

There are currently three campuses in Huaxi, Baoshan and Baiyun, covering an area of ​​nearly 2,800 acres. There are 24 colleges, 1 college of continuing education, and 1 independent college (Qiushi College). The library currently has more than 2.875 million paper documents, including about 100,000 ancient books and more than 1.925 million electronic books. There are 42,500 full-time students, 2,603 ​​faculty members, 719 teachers with doctoral degrees, 298 professors, 702 associate professors, 5 candidates for relevant national talent programs, 1 "Changjiang Scholar" specially appointed professor of the Ministry of Education, and 33 experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council. 84 people have won national titles and honorary titles such as national young and middle-aged outstanding contribution experts, national "teaching masters", and national excellent teachers; 230 people have won provincial titles and honorary titles such as Guizhou Province Core Experts and Provincial Experts.

The school has a complete range of disciplines and majors, covering 11 disciplines such as philosophy, literature, and education. There are 4 first-class disciplines in Guizhou Province, 4 first-class disciplines in Guizhou Province, 2 "world-class disciplines (class II) in Guizhou Province", 1 "class I discipline (class) in Guizhou Province", 6 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points (covering 32 second-level disciplines), 24 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, 17 professional degree master's degree authorization points. There are 86 undergraduate majors, 20 national first-class undergraduate major construction points, 7 national undergraduate specialty major construction points, 27 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points, and 19 provincial university demonstration undergraduate majors (specialty majors).

The school has rich educational and teaching resources. It is the "first batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform" and the "National University Practice Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base" of the Ministry of Education. There are 9 national bases such as national teacher training bases, national university off-campus practice bases, and national experimental teaching demonstration centers. There are 9 national scientific research platforms, including the National Engineering Technology Research Center, the National and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the National University Science and Technology Park, the Ministry of Education 111 Talent Introduction Base, and the Provincial and Ministry-co-built National Key Laboratory Cultivation Base, and 1 Ministry of Education Science and Technology Innovation Talent Team. There are 32 provincial scientific research platforms, including provincial key laboratories, provincial college humanities and social sciences research bases, provincial engineering laboratories, provincial collaborative innovation centers, and provincial astronomical research and education centers, and 13 provincial science and technology innovation talent teams.

The school adheres to open education, and has established long-term cooperation and exchange relations with universities and scientific research institutions in many countries and Taiwan, including South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, and Taiwan, and carried out teacher-student exchange projects. It has established a Swiss Research Center and a China-ASEAN Cultural Research Center (cultivation).

After eighty years of ups and downs, generations of scholars have taken the revitalization of the country and the nation as their mission, cultivated themselves and studied, and trained more than 300,000 outstanding talents in various fronts. It has gradually developed into a normal university with distinctive characteristics of teacher education and coordinated development of multiple disciplines, and has made positive contributions to promoting the economic and social development of Guizhou.
