Ili Normal University

Ili Normal University is a regular higher normal school under the management of the Education Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a long history. The predecessor of the school was Xinjiang Provincial Yili Vocational School, established in 1948. It was renamed Yili Normal School in 1953 and upgraded to a regular undergraduate institution with the approval of the State Council in 1980, named Yili Normal University. In December 2018, it was renamed Yili Normal University with the approval of the Ministry of Education.

The school has 14 colleges (departments) including the School of Chinese Language and Literature, the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the School of Physical Science and Technology, the School of Electronic and Information Engineering, the School of Chemistry and Environmental Science, the School of Biology and Geography, the School of Foreign Languages, the School of Marxism, the School of Law, the School of Physical Education, the School of Arts, the School of Tourism and History and Culture, the School of Education Science, and the Preparatory Teaching Department. There are currently 49 undergraduate majors, covering 10 disciplines including literature, science, education, engineering, history, law, art, management, economics, and agriculture. There are currently 8 first level master's degree authorization points in Chinese language and literature,

mathematics, physics, law, education, chemistry, biology, and ideological and political education, covering 45 second level disciplines, as well as 3 professional master's degree authorization points in engineering, education, and sports; It has three key disciplines at the autonomous region level, namely Chinese language and literature, physics, and mathematics. The school has one national level specialty construction site for Chinese minority language and literature (Kazakh language) in higher education institutions; Three key majors at the autonomous region level: Biological Sciences, Applied Chemistry, and Applied Physics; Electrical Engineering and Automation, as well as Applied Physics, are two key talents in short supply in the autonomous region; Three national first-class undergraduate major construction points: Law, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and Chinese Language and Literature; Five first-class undergraduate majors construction points in the autonomous region, including applied physics, chemistry, preschool education, Kazakh language, and ideological and political education. The school currently has 1057 faculty members, including 653 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 115 teachers with doctoral degrees, 254 teachers with senior professional titles, 72 teachers with senior professional titles, and 103 teachers currently pursuing doctoral degrees. 1 expert enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 6 teaching masters from the autonomous region, and 10 teaching experts from the autonomous region; Six candidates have been selected for the "Tianshan Talents" program in the autonomous region, one candidate has been selected for the "Four Batches" of Tianshan Cultural Masters in the autonomous region, and seven candidates have been selected for the Tianchi Doctoral Program.
