Changzhi Medical College

Changzhi Medical College is a full-time general higher medical college in Shanxi Province. It is located in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, which is known as the Red Capital and Charming City. It is located in the hinterland of Taihang and Taiyue and the junction of Shanxi, Hebei and Henan Provinces. It is an important base for talent training, medical services and medical research in the region and a major window for foreign exchanges and cooperation.

The school was founded in 1946. Its predecessor was the Nursing School of the General Hospital of the Bethune International Peace Hospital of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region. It was founded by Dr. He Mu, the president of the Yan'an Central Hospital, under the care of the older generation of revolutionaries such as Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping. It is one of the earliest medical schools established by the Communist Party of China. In 1948, it was rebuilt as Bethune International Peace Medical School. In July 1950, it was renamed Shanxi Changzhi Medical School. In 1958, it was renamed Jindongnan Medical College. In 1986, it was upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Changzhi Medical College. In 1996, it passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment; in 2004, it passed the undergraduate teaching level assessment. In 2011, it was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as a pilot unit for the training of clinical medicine master's professional degree graduates. In 2012, it was the first among similar colleges in the country to pass the Ministry of Education's clinical medicine professional certification. In 2013, it became the first pilot training unit for clinical medicine master's professional degree graduates in the province to serve the national special needs talent training project. In 2016, it was included in the National Central and Western Colleges and Universities Basic Capacity Building Project. In 2017, it received a return visit for the Ministry of Education's clinical medicine professional certification. In 2018, it passed the Ministry of Education's undergraduate teaching review and evaluation. In 2021, after review by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, it officially became a master's degree awarding institution, and three majors of clinical medicine, nursing, and pharmacy became master's degree authorization points. In the 76-year history of running schools, the school has inherited the red gene, undertaken the historical mission, adhered to the fine tradition of "facing the grassroots and moral education first", adhered to the school-running philosophy of "focusing on quality, practice and characteristics", and formed the Changyi spirit with "virtue and industry, saving the world and serving the country" as the core, and cultivated and delivered more than 70,000 outstanding medical talents for the society.

So far, the school has formed a school-running pattern of mutual penetration and coordinated development of medicine, engineering, literature, science, education, management, and art, and has built a multi-level talent training system integrating graduate education, undergraduate education, and continuing education. There are 19 teaching colleges and departments (departments) and 23 undergraduate majors. There are 12,553 students, including 465 master's students, 11,038 undergraduates, and 1,050 adult education students. There are two campuses, the main campus and the Wulong campus, covering an area of ​​757.17 acres, a building area of ​​300,400 square meters, and a total value of fixed assets of 512 million yuan, of which the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 149 million yuan.

The school currently has 975 staff members, 622 full-time teachers, 236 teachers with senior professional titles; 541 teachers with master's degrees or above, and 163 teachers with doctoral degrees. There are 1 "Yangtze River Scholar", 2 "National Outstanding Youth", 8 provincial teaching masters, 13 "131" science and technology leaders, and 27 "Sanjin Talents"; 3 academic and technical leaders in Shanxi Province, 1 national and provincial excellent teaching team, 1 key innovation team of Shanxi Province's "1331 Project", and 1 key innovation team for improving the quality and efficiency of the "1331" project.

The school has 2 national characteristic professional construction sites, 4 Shanxi characteristic majors, 2 Shanxi brand majors, and 2 Shanxi advantage majors; 8 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites; 1 national quality resource sharing course, 4 provincial quality resource sharing courses, and 8 provincial quality sharing courses; 1 first batch of key laboratories in Shanxi universities, 7 Shanxi experimental teaching demonstration centers, and 1 provincial virtual simulation experiment center. It has 5 directly affiliated hospitals, 10 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 172 practical teaching bases. The clinical medicine major is a pilot major for the comprehensive reform of the "Undergraduate Teaching Project" of the Ministry of Education. In 2011, the school was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health to become the first batch of pilot universities for the National Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program.

Clinical medicine is a superior and characteristic discipline of Shanxi Province's "1331 Project"; clinical medicine is a key construction discipline in Shanxi Province; nursing and pharmacy are key supported disciplines in Shanxi Province; the "Basic and Clinical Research of Digestive Tract Tumors" team is a key innovation team of Shanxi Province's "1331 Project"; "Digestive Tract Tumor Comprehensive Prevention and Treatment Discipline Group" is a service industry innovation discipline group in Shanxi Province. In the past five years, the school has undertaken a total of 623 scientific research projects of various types, including 323 national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. 3,233 papers have been published, 556 of which have been included in SCI; teachers have published more than 200 academic monographs.

The school insists on open education, and many teachers have visited and trained abroad for academic exchanges. We invited famous experts and scholars from the University of Saint Louis School of Medicine, the University of California, the University of Ithaca and other institutions to give lectures at the school. We have established friendly cooperative relations with Rockford College in the United States, the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom, and the University of Montenegro. We have held more than 30 influential academic conferences, including the Sino-US International Symposium on Cardiovascular Disease, the Taihang International Digestive Tract Tumor Minimally Invasive Summit Forum, and the Sixth International Microtransplantation and Cell Immunotherapy Academic Symposium.
