Yulin Normal University

Yulin Normal University is located in Yulin City, the hometown of the famous linguist Wang Li, an excellent tourist city in China, a thousand-year-old ancient city in the southeast of Guangxi, and an important channel and key node connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. It is a full-time general undergraduate university directly under the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. At present, the school has 16 secondary colleges, covering 10 major categories including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, agriculture, and art, and has 65 general undergraduate majors. The school recruits students from 25 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) across the country and Southeast Asia, Central Asia and other countries, and currently has 18,888 full-time students. Up to now, our school has jointly trained 207 graduate students and nearly 1,200 foreign students.

Development history. The school was founded in 1945 and was originally named Guangxi Provincial Dinglin Normal School. In 1958, it was upgraded to Guangxi Yulin Special District Normal College and began to recruit college students at the higher education level. In 1994, it was renamed Yulin Normal College. In 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Yulin Normal College, Yulin Education College, Yulin Higher Vocational and Technical College, and Guangxi Radio and Television University Yulin Branch were merged and upgraded to Yulin Normal College. In 2007, it passed the undergraduate teaching work level evaluation of the Ministry of Education with excellent results. In 2013, it was listed as a project construction unit for the newly added master's degree awarding unit in Guangxi. In 2014, it was listed as a project construction unit for the newly added master's professional degree awarding unit in Guangxi. In the same year, it began to jointly train master's students with Shaanxi Normal University, Guangxi Normal University and other universities. In 2015, it became the first batch of comprehensive reform pilot colleges and overall transformation pilot colleges in the autonomous region. In 2016, it was selected as a cooperative college of the Ministry of Education's Data China "Hundred Schools Project". In 2017, it successfully completed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. In 2018, it did a solid job in inspection rectification and auditing. In 2019, it was again elected as the chairman unit of the Guangxi Applied Undergraduate University Alliance Council. In recent years, the school has made every effort to apply for a master's degree and strive to become a new round of master's degree awarding unit. At present, the school has developed into a comprehensive undergraduate college with undergraduate education, higher vocational education, adult education, and international student education, and with the characteristics of teacher education.

School conditions. The school covers an area of ​​1,700 acres and a total construction area of ​​618,000 square meters. The school has teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of 303.798 million yuan. The library has a collection of 2.004 million Chinese and foreign literature paper books and 2.073 million electronic books. The school's information construction covers all buildings in teaching, scientific research, student dormitories, family quarters and other areas.

Faculty team. The school firmly implements the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents". There are 1,492 faculty members, including 1,111 full-time teachers and 150 senior professional titles; the number of teachers with doctoral and master's degrees or above accounts for more than 80% of the full-time teachers; 108 people are qualified as tutors for doctoral and master's students. The school currently has a group of high-level talents, including experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, national outstanding teachers, specially appointed experts from the autonomous region, outstanding experts from the autonomous region, high-level talents in Guangxi, outstanding scholars from Guangxi universities, and outstanding teachers from the autonomous region.

Talent training. The school has always taken moral education as its fundamental task. It has 1 national first-class undergraduate professional construction site and 11 autonomous region first-class undergraduate professional construction sites. It has been rated as the first batch of demonstration teacher education bases for the Guangxi University Normal Professional School Capacity Improvement Plan, Guangxi 21st Century Gardener Project B-type teacher training base, Guangxi's first batch of kindergarten teacher education bases, Guangxi primary school teacher education bases, Guangxi's first batch of junior high school teacher education bases, and Guangxi University "College Student Entrepreneurship Education Demonstration Base". It has autonomous region-level characteristic professional groups and experimental training teaching bases, autonomous region-level characteristic majors and experimental training teaching bases, and has obtained 3 Guangxi experimental training teaching demonstration centers and 3 Guangxi virtual simulation experimental centers. The sports and aesthetic education immersion action plan was selected into the list of the Ministry of Education, forming a basic education quality teacher and application-oriented talent training system with teacher ethics education as the core, ability training as the focus, and multimedia network environment as the support. More than 200,000 compulsory education teachers and application-oriented senior professionals who "can go down, stay, and make a difference" have been trained for local basic education and economic and social development.

Scientific research. The university's scientific research strength has been gradually strengthened, and it has built a number of key scientific research platforms and bases, including the Guangxi Academician Workstation (Horticulture Workstation), the Guangxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Chemistry and Biotechnology of Agricultural Resources, the Guangxi Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Research Center for Cultural Construction and Social Governance in Ethnic Areas, the Guangxi Key Laboratory of Efficient Utilization of Characteristic Agricultural Resources in Southeast Guangxi, the Guangxi Key Laboratory of Complex System Optimization and Big Data Processing, the Key Laboratory of Cultivation Base for the Protection and Utilization of Rare Economic Species in Southeast Guangxi, Guangxi First-Class Disciplines (Cultivation) (System Science), the Ministry of Education's National and Regional Research Centers "Thailand Research Center" and "Belarus Research Center". In recent years, the school has won 9 second prizes and 27 third prizes in the Guangxi Social Science and Natural Science Achievement Awards, 2 Guangxi Science and Technology Progress Awards, and 72 national fund projects. In 2018, the Guangxi Science and Technology Major Project "Research and Application Demonstration of Key Technologies for the Preparation of Nano-calcium Carbonate by Oxygen Enrichment" hosted by Professor Tian Jian of our school received a funding of 10 million yuan, and the project "Documentation and Research on the Complete Collection of Qing Poems" with Professor Wang Zhuohua of our school as the chief expert was approved as a major project of the National Social Science Fund in 2018. In 2019, our school won the China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award; in 2020, our school won the China General Chamber of Commerce Science and Technology Award, and our students won the first Guangxi Youth Science and Technology Innovation Autonomous Region Chairman Award; in 2021, our school was approved for the Guangxi Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Science Fund Project. At present, the school is making every effort to create research brands such as "All Qing Poetry Collection Documents", "Overseas Chinese", "Cultural Construction and Social Governance in Ethnic Areas", "Advanced Materials", "Functional Agriculture", and "Rare Animal and Plant Protection".

Social Services. The school actively serves the local economic and social development. It has established the Rural Revitalization Research Institute to help the rural revitalization industry in Yulin City. It has co-built the Yulin Big Data Research Institute and the Southeast Guangxi History and Culture Museum with the Yulin Municipal Government. It has co-established a legal research evaluation and consulting service base with the Yulin Municipal People's Congress and the Guigang Municipal People's Congress. It has co-established the School of Journalism with the Propaganda Department of the Autonomous Region Party Committee and the Propaganda Department of the Yulin Municipal Party Committee. It has co-established the Yulin Economic and Social Development Research Institute Urban and Regional Economic Research and Service Center with the Yulin Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute. It has established the Yulin Economic and Social Development Research Institute, Rural Education Research Institute, Jade Merchant Culture Research Center, Southeast Guangxi Rural New Community Construction Research Center, Guangxi Overseas Chinese Theory Research Base, Guangxi Local Culture Research and Information Service Center, Calcium Carbonate Industry Research Institute, Guangxi Traditional Crafts (Mud Weaving Skills) Workstation, China-Ukraine Nanocarbon Black Joint Research Center, Guangxi Advanced Equipment Manufacturing City (Yulin) New Materials Incubation Center, etc. In 2019, the Eighth Team (Guangxi•Guizhou) Workstation of the National Cultural Major Project "China Continued Taoist Canon" settled in our school.

Social reputation. The school's student source continues to improve, and the employment rate has remained above 90% in recent years.
