Qujing Normal University is located in Qujing City, the source of the third largest river in my country, the Pearl River, the second largest city in Yunnan Province, the hometown of Cuan culture, and one of the "Top Ten Livable Cities in China". The school passed the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education with "good" results in June 2007, became a high-quality source of students in Yunnan Province in 2010, and was named and commended as a "National Civilized Unit" by the Central Civilization Committee in 2012 and 2015. In June 2017, it passed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education. The school was selected as a provincial-level master's degree awarding unit and was selected into the reserve list of central budget investment projects for the "14th Five-Year Plan" education power promotion project. The school's history can be traced back to the "Teacher Training Institute" opened in 1907, after which it has undergone several adjustments and changes. In 1912, Yunnan Provincial No. 3 Normal School was established, renamed Qujing Normal School in 1956, and recruited Kunming Normal College Qujing Ordinary (Undergraduate) Class in 1977. In 1978, Qujing Normal College was established (renamed Qujing Normal College in 1993), and Qujing Education College was established in 1984.

In March 2000, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Qujing Normal College, Qujing Education College and Qujing Normal School merged to form Qujing Normal University. Generations of Qujing Normal people have never forgotten their original aspirations, forged ahead, and forged the Qujing Normal spirit of "mixing bitterness and joy to cultivate talents, cultivating people for a hundred years to forge souls". The basic conditions for running schools are constantly improving. There are three campuses: the main campus, the ancient city, and the Huandong campus. The campus area is 1,399 acres, the school building area is 378,900 square meters, the total number of library collections is more than 2.7 million volumes, and the electronic book resources are 120 TB; the total value of fixed assets is 901 million yuan, of which the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 159 million yuan. The school won the title of "Safe Campus" and "Advanced Landscaping Unit" in the province and city. The construction of the teaching staff has achieved remarkable results.

There are 1,045 in-service faculty and staff, including 199 doctors (including those studying). There are 810 full-time teachers, 94 teachers with senior professional titles, 252 teachers with associate senior professional titles, 42.72% of full-time teachers with senior professional titles, and 82.09% of full-time teachers with master's and doctoral degrees. Among the full-time teachers, 85 are employed as master's tutors at universities such as Shanghai Normal University, Yunnan University, and Yunnan Normal University. Among the teachers, there are experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council, well-known experts with provincial breakthroughs and provincial subsidies, provincial teaching masters, outstanding teachers, provincial young and middle-aged academic and technical leaders and reserve talents, etc., a total of 26 people, and more than 20 people have been selected for the "Two Plans" of Yunnan Province. There are 6 provincial-level famous teacher studios in Yunnan, 189 part-time professors and 13 foreign teachers have been hired for a long time. In November 2021, Zhu Min, director of the Natural History and Culture Research Center and director of the Qujing Ancient Fish Kingdom Museum, was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The disciplines and majors are distinctive. The school has 18 teaching and research institutions and 6 teaching and auxiliary institutions. It has established a number of distinctive majors and formed a multidisciplinary development pattern. There are 8 provincial key disciplines, including 1 Yunnan Province plateau discipline, 3 master's degree authorization project construction disciplines, and 2 advantageous and characteristic key disciplines. There are 59 full-time undergraduate majors (including 19 teacher training majors) and 9 adult education majors.

The majors involve 9 major disciplines: economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art. There is 1 characteristic (key) major of national higher education institutions, 5 characteristic (key) majors of Yunnan Province higher education institutions, and 12 provincial quality courses. There are 2 projects of Yunnan Province's "Key Professional Groups to Support Industrial Upgrading", 1 project of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform Pilot College Construction Project and 1 project of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Practice Base Construction Project, 2 projects of Yunnan Province's high-level teaching staff construction projects, 5 provincial teaching teams, 2 Huang Danian-style teaching teams, 3 Yunnan Province Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, 2 virtual simulation experimental teaching projects, 1 collaborative education plan for outstanding economics talents, and 175 national and provincial teaching quality engineering projects. In 2019, the school was selected as a "National Language Promotion Base" and became a "Provincial Key Marxist College" construction unit. 13 majors were selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points, and the school's discipline and major construction has made significant progress.

The quality of talent training continues to improve. Enrolling students from 26 provinces (cities and regions) across the country, there are currently more than 16,000 full-time undergraduate students. The number of students who won awards in national and provincial discipline and professional competitions and science and technology innovation competitions has increased year by year, winning 744 national and provincial awards, and 56 innovation and entrepreneurship projects have received national and provincial funding. Among the schools where graduates are admitted to master's programs, the proportion of "double first-class" universities such as Tsinghua University and Peking University accounts for about 30%. The employment rate has remained above 90%. It has won the first prize in the provincial employment work target responsibility assessment 11 times, and has been rated as a typical experience university for employment of college graduates in Yunnan Province and a typical experience university for innovation and entrepreneurship in Yunnan Province. In 2021, it was approved as the "National College Graduate Employment Ability Training Base".

The "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice activities of college students have been commended by the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. The school was awarded the title of "Yunnan Province Socialist Core Values ​​Education Demonstration School" and "Yunnan Province's Second Batch of 'Three-All Education' Comprehensive Reform Pilot Universities". There are 1 research base of the State Sports General Administration, 1 language and character promotion base of the National Language Committee, 1 provincial philosophy and social science research base, 4 provincial university key laboratories, 1 provincial university engineering research center, 3 provincial philosophy and social science innovation teams, 6 provincial university science and technology innovation teams, and 2 provincial talent training model innovation experimental demonstration zones; presided over 82 national projects, published more than 420 monographs, compilations, art collections and edited textbooks, and published more than 10,300 papers; won 98 provincial and ministerial awards for outstanding achievements, 117 provincial and ministerial education and teaching awards, 194 Qujing City Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, and 24 Qujing City Literary and Art Creation Government Awards, and produced a number of high-level research results. The ability to serve economic and social development is constantly improving.

In the past five years, more than 10 projects such as "Research on the Cultivation of Leading Industries in Qujing City" and "Research on Industrial Transformation and Upgrading in Qujing City" have been completed, and special projects such as "Qujing City Economic Development Blue Book" have been undertaken, providing important decision-making references for the government and relevant departments. The large-scale opera "The Sound of the Waves Remains Still" created based on alumnus Gui Taosheng to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the opera "Young Footsteps" rehearsed to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March were successfully performed and received rave reviews, creating typical experience for art teaching reform and collaborative innovation.

The National Art Fund project "Silk Road Splendor-Watercolor Art Exhibition of Southwest Ethnic Minorities", "Southwest Silk Road" and "Maritime Silk Road" tours were successfully held, showing the achievements of watercolor art in the southwest region and the achievements of our school's art education and talent training. Promote the inheritance and innovation of Cuan culture, and conduct digital research and development of the "Southern Stele Treasures" Cuan Longyan Stele and Cuan Baozi Stele. In 2017, the "Qushi Er Cuan Peisheng Character Library" was officially launched; in 2020, the "Qushi Da Cuan Jianguo Character Library" was launched, and the "Cuan Style Calligraphy Character Library" was first released. In 2021, we will cooperate with the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Yunnan University to build the Qujing Ancient Fish Kingdom Museum, carry out relevant fossil research and popular science work, create an exhibition and experience venue that integrates scientific research, popular science, culture, and appreciation, enhance the influence of Qujing, the "Ancient Fish Kingdom", and create a world-class ancient fish culture research and display business card.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Qujing Red Culture Exhibition Hall was built to host the "Don't forget the original intention, keep the mission in mind" Qujing City's theme exhibition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, which is open to the public. Operating in the "government-society-university-primary school" education community model, a full-time public primary school-Qujing Normal University Affiliated Primary School was built to serve basic education and help solve the problem of "going to a good school" for the people in the Economic Development Zone. The first batch of first-year freshmen will be enrolled in August 2021. Internationalization of schooling is gradually deepening.

The "Yunnan Province Overseas Study Preparatory College Qujing Branch" was established, becoming the third batch of Chinese language education bases of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government. It cooperated with Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in the United States, Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland, New Zealand Business School and Lincoln University to carry out various forms of joint talent training projects such as "2+2", "3+1" and "3+1+1". In recent years, it has established formal exchange and cooperation relations with many universities and educational institutions in countries and regions such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, and Ireland. It has long-term hired foreign teachers from the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Thailand, Indonesia and other countries to teach at the school, recruited more than 1,000 long-term and short-term international students, and established a "Chinese International Education Center" in Thailand. The level of internationalization of school management has been improving year by year.
