It has played the "three cards" of education opening up to the outside world with the South Asia and Southeast Asia Language and Culture College, Lancang-Mekong International Vocational College, and China-India Yoga College as the main body, promoting language communication, cultural communication, and heart-to-heart communication with South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, and serving as an important bridge for building a community with a shared future for mankind. Focusing on the goal of forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, the school has built an education system for national unity and progress with "six integrations" to vigorously promote exchanges and integration among all ethnic groups. In 2016, it was awarded the title of "National Demonstration Unit for the Creation of National Unity and Progress", and was awarded the titles of "Yunnan Civilized School" and "Yunnan National Unity Demonstration School".

In recent years, the school has formed a good situation of "team unity, campus harmony, and career development" around the school's orientation of ethnicity, frontier and internationality, and has achieved good results, forming its own characteristics and highlights: In order to better serve the training of ethnic minority talents, in 2013, based on the original preparatory education college, the Yunnan Higher Education Ethnic Minority Preparatory Education Base was established in our school, building a bridge to higher education for ethnic minority students and cultivating and delivering high-quality ethnic minority undergraduate students for colleges and universities inside and outside the province.

The college is committed to becoming a standard setter, rule maintainer, industry leader and even the founder of the Chinese yoga discipline in the dissemination of yoga in China.
