Changchun Institute of Science and Technology was established in May 2000 and is located in Shuangyang District, Changchun City. It is an independent college jointly established by Jilin Agricultural University, a provincial key university, and Donghua Education Group, confirmed by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. In 2013, it was approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China to be converted into Changchun Institute of Science and Technology.

Changchun Institute of Science and Technology is a general undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Shuangyang District, Changchun City, Jilin Province, and is located on the beautiful Shuangyang Lake. The campus covers an area of ​​847,200 square meters, with a construction area of ​​402,900 square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 116 million yuan. There is a 33,800 square meter library with 1.166 million books and 740,000 electronic books, and a 38,000 square meter laboratory building. It has a gymnasium that can accommodate 6,000 people and a stadium that can accommodate 30,000 people, 270 off-campus internship bases, and the campus has realized digital network management. It has a large electronic reading room, an international conference center with advanced facilities, a cultural and sports activity center, a swimming pool, etc.

The school adapts to the needs of local economic and social development for applied talents, and has built a professional system with engineering as the main body, agriculture as the feature, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as medicine, management, economics, science, art, and literature. There are 55 undergraduate majors and 45 junior college majors, with nearly 15,000 students on campus.

The school adheres to the concept of "talents strengthen the school", based on a strategic height, and continuously strengthens the construction of the faculty team, and the overall quality has been significantly enhanced. The school attaches great importance to scientific research. In recent years, relying on the advantages of disciplines, majors and talents, combined with the key areas of economic construction in Jilin Province, especially the key industries of the hometown of sika deer where the school is located, it has actively applied for scientific research platforms and has been approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the "Deer Industry Engineering International Science and Technology Cooperation Base", the "Jilin Province Deer Antler Biology Key Laboratory" and the "Jilin Province Sika Deer Precision Detection Industrialization Science and Technology Innovation Center" approved by the Jilin Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the "Animal Nutrition and Genetic Breeding Key Laboratory", "Jilin Province Deer Industry Engineering Research Center", "Jilin Province Functional Food Industry Engineering Research Center", "Changbai Mountain Ecological Resources Development Engineering Research Center", "Jilin Characteristic Tourism and Cultural Industry Research Center", "Jilin Changbai Mountain Wild Resources Research Institute", "Jilin Province Sino-Korean Animal Science Research Institute" approved by the Jilin Provincial Department of Civil Affairs, and 14 other provincial scientific research platforms.

In recent years, teachers of the school have undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects of various departments at all levels, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Jilin Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Jilin Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Jilin Provincial Animal Husbandry Administration, and the Jilin Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Planning Fund Office; published more than 2,300 papers of various types, and applied for nearly 100 patents of various types.

The school has signed joint training agreements with Korea's Konkuk University, Jilin Agricultural University, and Beihua University, and the school has been approved as a master's degree authorization project construction unit. The school aims to cultivate high-quality and application-oriented talents, and has established a talent training model of "ability-based, three-dimensional, and three-in-one". It pays special attention to school-enterprise cooperation, integration of production and education, and takes the road of combining production, learning and research. The school attaches importance to the organic combination of entrepreneurship education and professional education, and has built the largest national-level college student entrepreneurship park in the province. It implements a six-in-one, hierarchical, and open entrepreneurship education model to continuously improve the number and quality of graduates' entrepreneurship, forming a good situation of employment leading entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship promoting employment. Many students have won gold and silver in various skill competitions such as the "National College Student Mechanical Innovation Design Competition", "National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition", "National College Student 'Yonyou Xindao Cup' Simulation Business Competition", "National College Student Electronic Design Competition", and "Jilin Province 'Internet +' College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition". In 2020, Changchun University of Science and Technology players won 1 silver medal and 3 winning awards in the first vocational skills competition of the People's Republic of China, 2 people won the title of "National Technical Expert", 1 person was selected as the "Best Player Award", and 2 projects and 2 people were shortlisted for the Chinese training team to win glory for Jilin Province. In the past three years, the school's postgraduate entrance examination rate has increased year by year. Among them, the average postgraduate entrance examination admission rate of the School of Life Sciences in the past three years has reached 24%. The initial employment rates of undergraduate graduates from 2017 to 2019 were 84.70%, 88.16% and 81.51% respectively, and the year-end employment rates exceeded 94%. In 2020, under the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, the school's initial and year-end rates ranked among the top universities in Jilin Province.

The school attaches great importance to foreign cooperation in running schools and exchanges. At present, it has signed cooperation agreements with 54 universities in 11 countries and Taiwan, including South Korea, Japan, Russia, the United States, Thailand, the United Kingdom, France, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, etc. Students conduct various forms of long-term and short-term exchanges or study for master's and doctoral degrees through foreign exchange platforms. Our school and the Northeastern Federal University of Amosov, Russia, jointly established the Russian Language and Culture Center and the Institute of Social Development in Northeast China and the Russian Far East. The school also carried out international scientific research cooperation on the development and utilization of high-end sika deer products with universities such as Konkuk University in South Korea.

The school's quality engineering projects have achieved fruitful results. There are 1 national science and technology cooperation base, 1 provincial "12th Five-Year Plan" characteristic discipline, 4 provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 1 provincial characteristic high-level professional construction site, 3 provincial characteristic brand majors, 2 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers (construction units), 2 provincial talent training model innovation experimental zones, and 1 pilot major of Jilin Province's Higher Education Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program.
