Jilin Normal University is a key university in Jilin Province. The school was founded in 1958. After more than 60 years of construction and development, it has formed a school-running system that integrates undergraduates, postgraduates, international students and continuing education students, with teacher education as its feature and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. The current party secretary is Wang Xiku and the president is Yang Xiaotian.

The school has two campuses in Siping and Changchun, covering an area of ​​1 million square meters and a building area of ​​680,000 square meters. The campus environment is comfortable, the infrastructure is complete, and the functions are complete. There are 21 colleges, 1 teaching department, 46 research institutes, and 182 laboratories. Foreign students from more than 20 countries have studied Chinese and professional courses in our school, and there are test sites for the Chinese Proficiency Test.

The school's scientific research has developed rapidly. There is currently 1 innovation team of the Ministry of Education, 46 scientific research and innovation platforms at or above the provincial level, including 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education. Since 2016, there have been 5 national key R&D plan projects, 77 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 1 major National Social Science Foundation project, 29 National Social Science Planning projects, and 11 National Art Foundation projects. More than 1,500 academic papers have been published and included in SCI, and 308 journal papers have been included in CSSCI. 194 academic monographs and textbooks have been published. 210 authorized invention patents have been obtained, and 66 scientific research awards at the provincial and ministerial levels or above have been won.

The school has active external exchanges and actively builds international cooperation platforms. It has established friendly cooperative relations with more than 100 universities and scientific research institutions in more than 20 countries and Hong Kong and Taiwan, and has carried out extensive and in-depth cooperation in teacher-student exchanges, academic exchanges, foreign experts, international student education, Chinese language promotion, and cooperative education.
