Anhui University of Science and Technology

Anhui University of Science and Technology is a key high-level university in Anhui Province. It is a university jointly built by Anhui Province and the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China. It is a university supported by the National Central and Western University Basic Capacity Construction Project and a university implementing the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" of the Ministry of Education. In 2006, the school won the excellent grade in the undergraduate teaching work level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. The school covers an area of ​​about 3,200 acres.

The school was founded in 1945 and is the first engineering university in Anhui Province. It is one of the two universities in the country that first carried out coal mining talent training. In 1955, the school was upgraded from Huainan Coal Mine Industry College to Hefei Mining College, and in 1958 it was renamed Hefei University of Technology. In 1971, the disciplines and majors related to coal mining were moved to Huainan as a whole, and merged with Huainan Coal Mine School to form Huainan Coal College. After that, it went through the period of Huainan Mining College and Huainan Industrial College. During this period, the former East China Coal Medical College and Huainan Chemical Engineering School were successively incorporated. In 1998, the school implemented the management system of "co-construction by the central and local governments, with local management as the main focus". In 2002, the school was renamed Anhui University of Science and Technology.

The school has a high-level teaching staff with a combination of full-time and part-time teachers and a reasonable structure. There are more than 4,300 faculty members in the school (including directly affiliated hospitals), more than 970 people with senior professional titles, including 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 8 national talents, 44 people enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, more than 80 provincial and ministerial talents, and more than 400 high-level experts and scholars serving as part-time professors of the school, including 28 dual-appointed academicians. There is one Huang Danian-style teacher team in national universities, four "115" industrial innovation teams, and eight leading talent teams in Anhui universities.

The school has a graduate school, 19 colleges (departments) and a directly affiliated hospital. It has 6 postdoctoral research stations, 6 first-level doctoral programs, 34 second-level doctoral programs; 22 first-level master's programs, 113 second-level master's programs, 11 master's professional degree authorization categories, and 87 undergraduate majors. It has 1 Anhui Province Class I peak discipline (the only special support), 5 Class III peak disciplines, 1 Anhui Province's top priority discipline, and 7 provincial key disciplines. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, 7 disciplines were listed. A school-running system has been formed with engineering as the main body, safety, mining, blasting and other disciplines as the characteristics, and coordinated development of engineering, science, medicine, management, literature, economics, law and art.

The school currently has more than 29,000 full-time undergraduate students and more than 5,000 doctoral and master's students. It has 16 national first-class professional construction sites, 9 majors that have passed the engineering education certification of the Ministry of Education, 6 national characteristic majors, 4 national professional comprehensive reform pilots, 4 national first-class courses, high-quality courses and other courses, 1 national teaching team, 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, and 5 national engineering practice education centers. In 2016, it was approved as the first batch of provincial entrepreneurial colleges in Anhui Province.

Focusing on the fundamental task of talent training, the school deepens the reform of education and teaching, and has formed the characteristics of innovative talent training of "solid foundation, emphasis on practice, innovation and high quality". Since its establishment, the university has trained more than 300,000 talents of various types for the country. Five alumni, Chen Jing, Lu Bingheng, Peng Suping, Yuan Liang, and Chen Xiangsheng, have been elected as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The school is a "National College Graduate Employment Skills Training Base", "National First Batch of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Typical Experience Colleges" (50 colleges and universities nationwide), "National First Batch of Demonstration Colleges and Universities for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform" (99 colleges and universities nationwide), and "National Graduate Employment Typical Experience College"; it has been rated as "National Advanced Collective for Graduate Employment in General Colleges and Universities" twice; it has been rated as "Anhui Province Advanced Collective for Employment" twice in a row; it has been rated as "Anhui Province General College Graduate Employment Model Unit" for seven consecutive years. The school is the initiator of the "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition. The College Student Robotics Association and the College Student Model Aircraft and Technology Practice Association were selected as the "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team", and many students were awarded the "China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award" and "National College Student Self-improvement Star" and other honorary titles.

The school closely focuses on economic and social needs to carry out scientific research and technical services, and initiates the establishment of the "Coal Safety, Intelligent and Precision Mining Collaborative Innovation Organization". Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school has undertaken more than 2,300 scientific research projects of various types, including more than 230 national projects such as the National Key R&D Program, the Base and Talent Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the National Social Science Foundation, with an average annual research funding of 220 million yuan; won 31 provincial and ministerial first prizes, 1 National Innovation Award, 1 China Patent Award, 1 Anhui Patent Gold Award, 150 scientific and technological achievement awards from the Ministry of Education, Anhui Province and national industry associations, and authorized more than 1,400 domestic invention patents and international invention patents. Won the title of National Advanced Collective of Professional and Technical Talents. In the past three years, the school has been approved as the National Key Laboratory of Mining Response and Disaster Prevention and Control in Deep Coal Mines, the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Safe and Precise Coal Mining, the National Demonstration Base for Innovative Talent Training, the Provincial and Ministerial Co-construction Collaborative Innovation Center for Intelligent Technology and Equipment in Mines, and the Key Laboratory of Industrial Dust Prevention and Control and Occupational Safety and Health of the Ministry of Education, etc., and has 40 provincial and ministerial research and innovation platforms.

The school adheres to open education and has established strategic cooperative relations with more than 150 units such as local governments, large state-owned enterprises, and well-known universities. The Institute of Environmentally Friendly Materials and Occupational Health (Wuhu), the Institute of Energy Revolution Engineering Technology (Jincheng), the Shanghai Institute of Health Research, the Institute of Advanced Studies (Hefei), and the Nanjing Institute of Smart Internet of Things have been established. Actively integrated into the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Center, as one of the construction units of the Anhui Energy Research Institute, it is responsible for the research work on the efficient and clean utilization of coal; participates in the construction of the Big Health Research Institute, is responsible for the preparation of the Joint Research Center for Occupational Medicine and Health; participates in the construction of the Artificial Intelligence Research Institute and the Environmental Research Institute.

The school continues to expand international cooperation and exchanges, and has established long-term and stable international cooperation relations with more than 60 universities and research institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Poland, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Singapore, South Korea and other countries (regions). There are international students from 28 countries studying for doctoral and master's degrees at the school.
