Huaibei Normal University is located in Huaibei City, Anhui Province, a national civilized city and a national garden city. It is a comprehensive provincial key university. It was founded in 1974 as the Huaibei Branch of Anhui Normal University. In December 1978, it was approved by the State Council and named Huaibei Coal Normal College. It was affiliated to the former Ministry of Coal Industry and recruited students from all over the country. In September 1998, it implemented the management system of "co-construction by the central and local governments, with Anhui Province as the main management". In March 2010, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and renamed Huaibei Normal University. In 2003, it obtained the right to confer master's degrees. In 2007, it was rated "excellent" in the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was added as a provincial doctoral student training unit and postdoctoral training unit. In 2018, the university passed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education at a high level.

The school has two campuses, Xiangshan and Binhu, covering an area of ​​more than 2,400 acres.
