Hefei University of Technology

Hefei University of Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Anhui Provincial Government, and a university jointly established by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Ministry of Education. The school was founded in 1945 and was approved as a national key university by the CPC Central Committee in 1960. Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Dong Biwu, Chen Yi, Deng Xiaoping and other older generation proletarian revolutionaries successively visited the school to inspect and guide the work. Comrade Deng Xiaoping personally wrote the name of the school in 1979. The school became a key construction university of the national "211 Project" in 2005, a national "985 Project" advantage discipline innovation platform construction university in 2009, and entered the ranks of national "double first-class" construction universities in 2017.

The school is deeply committed to the ambition of "serving the country through industry", adhering to the school motto of "virtue, diligence, reality and innovation", and taking "cultivating backbone and leading talents with both moral integrity and ability, excellent ability and conscious service to the country" as the overall goal of talent training, forming the talent training characteristics of "solid engineering foundation, solid work style and strong entrepreneurial ability". The school cultivates and practices the campus culture of "loving the country and the school, being diligent in learning, unity and cooperation, devoting oneself to the pursuit of excellence", continuously deepens the reform of education and teaching, and continuously improves the quality of talent training. The school has become an important base for national talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international exchanges and cooperation.

The school insists on relying on teachers to run schools and vigorously implements the strategy of "strengthening the school with talents". There are more than 2,200 full-time teachers, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (dual appointment), "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" selected, National Outstanding Youth Science Fund winners, National Excellent Youth Science Fund winners, and the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talent Support Program" and other types of high-level talents of more than 100 people.

The school attaches importance to the comprehensive development of students' morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, and the talent training effect is remarkable. Since the beginning of the new century, the school has won 12 national teaching achievement awards, including 9 awards for which our school is the first completion unit. At present, there are more than 32,300 full-time undergraduate students and more than 13,000 master and doctoral students in the school. There are 2 national college student "Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Teams". Students have achieved a series of excellent results including gold medals in various competitions such as the "Internet +" competition, the "Challenge Cup" National College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition and the "Chuang Qingchun" National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. For many years, they have been at the top of the various lists of the "National Ordinary College Student Competition Ranking (Undergraduate)". The student bridge team has represented the Chinese youth team in international competitions many times and achieved excellent results; the college student art troupe has participated in the "Flowers in May" National College Student Art Performance many times.

The school currently has 4 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 1 national virtual simulation experimental teaching center, and 3 national engineering practice education centers. The school has been selected as one of the first batch of "demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform", "national university practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base", the first batch of pilot universities for the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Training Program", the first batch of pilot units for the "Second Classroom Transcript" of the Communist Youth League of universities, "National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Typical Experience University", and the first batch of student network culture studios of the Ministry of Education.

The school currently has 19 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees and 3 doctoral professional degree authorization points; 39 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees and 21 master's professional degree authorization points; there are 1 (joint) national key laboratory (cultivation) and 1 national engineering laboratory, 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 5 engineering research centers of the Ministry of Education, 2 national international science and technology cooperation bases (demonstration), 3 national and local joint engineering research centers, 1 national and local joint engineering laboratory, and 1 Anhui Provincial Laboratory (Anhui Province "One Room and One Center").

The school adheres to the national strategic needs and international academic frontiers, vigorously strengthens demand-driven basic research, focuses on cutting-edge technology and disruptive technological innovation, promotes organized scientific research and interdisciplinary research, and continuously makes breakthroughs in projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Research Group Project, the National Key R&D Program Project, and the Major Instrument Special Project. Many achievements have been applied in national key projects and national defense projects. The scale of scientific and technological achievements transfer and transformation ranks among the top universities in the country, and has won many major awards such as the National Science and Technology Award and the First National Innovation Award.

The school has established exchanges and cooperation with more than 50 world-renowned universities in the United States, Russia, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan and other countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Every year, it implements various talent joint training projects with many well-known foreign universities, and carries out cooperative education, cross-cultural exchanges and practices, and various academic exchange activities. The school currently has international students from more than 40 countries on all continents studying at the school.

The school has Tunxi Road Campus, Feicui Lake Campus, Lu'an Road Campus and Hefei University of Technology Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Research Institute in Hefei, the capital of Anhui Province, and Xuancheng Campus of Hefei University of Technology in Xuancheng, Anhui Province. The school has won many honorary titles such as the Fourth National Civilized Unit and the First "National Civilized Campus".
