Lanzhou Institute of Technology

The predecessor of the school was the Bailey Polytechnic founded by New Zealand international friend Louis Alley in 1942. It was rebuilt into Gansu Mechanical Manufacturing School in 1958. In 1962, it merged with five technical secondary schools of coal, electricity, light industry, heavy industry and post and telecommunications to form Gansu Industrial School. In 1974, it was renamed Lanzhou Industrial School. In 1989, it was rebuilt into Lanzhou Industrial College. In 2012, it was approved by the Ministry of Education and the Gansu Provincial People's Government to be rebuilt into Lanzhou Institute of Technology. Over the past 79 years, the school has been established by industry, prospered by industry, and proud of industry, and has gradually formed a school-running pattern with industry as the top priority, emphasizing application, and serving local areas and industries.

The school currently has two campuses, Lanzhou Qilihe Campus and Lanzhou New District Campus, covering an area of ​​1,784.18 acres, a building area of ​​824,800 square meters, a collection of 932,800 books, 964,100 electronic books, and teaching equipment with a total value of 171 million yuan.

The school strengthens the construction of teachers and has a team of excellent teachers. There are 763 faculty members and 521 full-time teachers, including 263 associate senior titles and above, 422 teachers with master's degrees and above, and the proportion of high-level and high-educated teachers is 50.48% and 81% respectively. There are 187 full-time teachers with "double-teacher and dual-ability", accounting for 35.89%. Among the teaching staff, a group of outstanding talents have emerged, including national teaching masters, national teaching teams, national entrepreneurial mentors, provincial leading talents, and provincial model teachers.

The school emphasizes the construction of connotation and has achieved relatively fruitful results in running schools. There are 10,792 ordinary full-time students. There are 15 teaching units and 34 undergraduate majors, covering five major disciplines, including engineering, economics, management, literature, and art. Since 2012, there have been 3 provincial key disciplines, 1 provincial characteristic major, 8 provincial first-class major construction sites, 3 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship pilot majors, and 5 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers; 25 Gansu Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, 61 Ministry of Education Collaborative Education Projects; 1 national first-class course, 20 provincial first-class courses, MOOCs, and high-quality resource sharing courses.

The school focuses on student skill training and actively promotes innovation and entrepreneurship education. In various subject skill competitions such as the National College Student Mathematical Modeling, the National College Student Electronic Design Competition, the National College Student "Challenge Cup" Competition, the National College Student English Competition, and the "Next Generation Internet Technology Innovation Competition", our college students have won 263 national awards and 824 provincial awards.

The school is based on its school-running positioning and strives to cultivate high-quality application-oriented talents. Since its establishment, the school has provided more than 90,000 talents of various types to the society. It has obtained 596 projects of various types, including 15 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 2 National Social Science Foundation projects; 55 provincial and ministerial science and technology projects. It has built 12 provincial and ministerial science and technology platforms, won 109 awards such as Gansu Science and Technology Progress Award and Provincial Social Science Outstanding Achievement Award, and obtained more than 600 patents and software copyrights.

It has established good exchanges and cooperation relations with Germany, Ukraine, Switzerland, the United States, Canada and other countries. Actively carry out exchanges and studies abroad for students, increase the training of key teachers and teaching management personnel in foreign universities, and encourage and support teaching and research personnel to participate more widely in international academic and cultural exchanges and cooperation.
