Northeast Agricultural University

Northeast Agricultural University is a national "211 Project" key construction university and a world-class discipline construction university with "advantages in agricultural science, life science and food science as its characteristics, coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as agriculture, engineering, science, economics, and management". It is a university jointly built by the Heilongjiang Provincial People's Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, a university selected in the national "Basic Capacity Construction Project for Colleges and Universities in Central and Western China", and an excellent university in the undergraduate teaching level assessment of the Ministry of Education.

The school was founded in Harbin in 1948 and was originally called Northeast Agricultural College. It is the first general agricultural college founded by the Communist Party of China in the liberated areas. Liu Da, a well-known educator and the first mayor of Harbin, is the first dean of the school. Since its establishment, the university has been successively affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Northeast Administrative Committee, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Heilongjiang Provincial Agricultural Committee, and the Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department. In 1981, it was identified as a provincial key university in Heilongjiang Province. In 1994, it merged with the Heilongjiang Provincial Agricultural Management Cadre College to form Northeast Agricultural University.

The school has 16 colleges and 1 teaching department. There are currently 3 national key disciplines, 3 national key (cultivation) disciplines, 2 key disciplines of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 2 provincial key discipline groups, 10 provincial first-level key disciplines, and 6 disciplines in the top 1% of the ESI international discipline rankings. The school is one of the first batch of universities in China that has the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees. It currently has 10 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees and 22 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master's degrees; 2 doctoral professional degree authorization categories, 15 master's professional degree authorization categories; 10 postdoctoral research mobile stations, 2 postdoctoral research workstations; 75 undergraduate majors, 10 national characteristic majors, 18 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 30 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and 1 major selected as a national comprehensive reform pilot.

The school currently has 1,487 full-time teachers, including 349 professors and 517 associate professors, 972 with doctoral degrees and 429 with master's degrees. The school currently has 57 scientific research platforms at the provincial and ministerial levels, including 1 national engineering research center, 2 national engineering technology research centers, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 5 key laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 1 regional experimental station of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 3 agricultural science observation and experimental stations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 4 scientific research bases of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, 1 innovative talent training base of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 base for the transformation and technology transfer of scientific and technological achievements of higher education institutions, and 1 national university science and technology park. It is one of the first batch of colleges and universities to build the New Rural Development Research Institute of Higher Education Institutions. Since its establishment, the university has won 660 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, including 37 national natural science awards, invention awards and science and technology progress awards; it has won the Governor's Special Award and Major Science and Technology Benefit Award of Heilongjiang Province 11 times, and has been awarded the honorary title of "Advanced Social Practice Group" by the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League 22 times, and has won the "Economic Revitalization Award" of Heilongjiang Province 3 times, and the "Grain Production Contribution Award" of Heilongjiang Province twice. The school adheres to open education, has the qualifications to accept Chinese government scholarship students to study in China, has a training base for studying in Russia by the Ministry of Education, and is the Chinese secretariat unit of the Forum of University Presidents in Northeast China and the Russian Far East and Siberia. Since its establishment, it has established contacts with more than 60 universities and scientific research institutions in Russia, Japan, South Korea, the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland and other countries, and has carried out extensive international exchanges and cooperation, and has initially formed the international exchange characteristics of "focusing on Northeast Asia and learning from others".

The school covers an area of ​​4.964 million square meters, with a total construction area of ​​1.231 million square meters. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 764 million yuan. It is one of the first national-level demonstration units of conservation-oriented public institutions. The journals sponsored by the school include Journal of Northeast Agricultural University (Natural Science Edition), Journal of Northeast Agricultural University (Social Science Edition), Journal of Northeast Agricultural University (English Edition), China Potato, Feed Expo, China Dairy Industry, Dairy and Human, Agricultural Economy and Management, Soybean Technology, and Heilongjiang Textile, which are publicly distributed at home and abroad.
