Chuzhou University is located between the Yangtze River and the Huai River in eastern Anhui. The school is located in Chuzhou City, which is known as the "key to Jinling and the guarantee of the Yangtze River and Huai River". It is connected to Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, with beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritage. Ouyang Xiu of the Northern Song Dynasty left behind the famous "Drunken Pavilion"; Zhu Yuanzhang started to establish the Ming Dynasty from here; Wu Jingzi of the Qing Dynasty created the great masterpiece "The Scholars" which pioneered satirical novels; Xiaogang Village in Fengyang County under its jurisdiction is the birthplace of China's rural reform.

The predecessor of the school was Chuzhou Normal School founded in 1950. It has gone through the stages of Chuxian Normal School and Chuxian Teaching Point (branch) of Anhui Normal University; in 1980, it was renamed Chuzhou Normal College; and in May 2004, it was upgraded to Chuzhou College. The school is one of the first batch of local applied high-level university construction schools in Anhui Province, and is one of the two applied universities that have established the construction of "Double First-Class" domestic first-class disciplines. It is also a key construction unit for the newly added master's degree awarding project in Anhui Province. In 2017, it successfully passed the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education.

The school currently has two campuses, Huifeng and Langya, covering an area of ​​1.089 million square meters, a school building area of ​​462,000 square meters, teaching and scientific research equipment worth 330 million yuan, a collection of 1.346 million paper books, and 1.553 million electronic books. It has 15 secondary colleges and 62 undergraduate majors, including 32 engineering majors and 7 management majors, forming a discipline layout with engineering and management as the main disciplines, and coordinated development of eight major disciplines including engineering, management, literature, science, economics, education, agriculture and art. There are 1,367 faculty members, including 113 senior professional titles, 283 associate senior professional titles, 389 doctors (including 101 students), 827 masters, and 18,792 full-time undergraduate students.

The campus cultural atmosphere is rich, and the civilized creation work has achieved solid results. New achievements have been made in the construction of disciplines and majors. Focusing on local pillar industries and strategic emerging industries, through new construction, adjustment and transformation, we optimize the professional layout, cultivate application-oriented professional growth points, strengthen the construction of first-class undergraduate majors, and create discipline and professional characteristics. The transformation of disciplines and majors was recommended by the Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education as a typical case of transformation and development. Three majors, Internet of Things Engineering, Geographic Information Science, and Food Quality and Safety, were successfully selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction points, and 14 majors, including surveying and mapping engineering, were identified as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction points. There are 8 provincial characteristic (brand) majors and 12 provincial professional comprehensive reform pilots. The number of first-class undergraduate major construction points ranks among the top similar universities in the province. 19 majors are listed in the 2021 "China University Major Rankings by Soft Science". It has 1 provincial industrial innovation team, 11 Chuzhou "221" and "113" industrial innovation teams, 13 provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms, and 15 municipal scientific research platforms. Geography was approved as a domestic first-class discipline (Class B) in Anhui Province's "Double First-Class" construction, and was selected as a Class III peak discipline in Anhui Province's colleges and universities. It won 1 second prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award and 19 provincial (ministerial) scientific and technological achievement awards. One teacher was selected into the list of "China's Highly Cited Scholars in 2014".

The quality of talent training has been improved. Adhere to talent training as the center, deeply implement the concept of "student-centered, results-oriented, and continuous improvement", explore the talent training model of "transformation as the basis, practice as the key, and dual innovation as the core", deepen the "five-in-one" education and teaching reform, and form the characteristics of innovative and entrepreneurial education with "one line through and three points of effort". "Construction and Exploration of the Practical Education Model of 'Three Classrooms in One, Three Platforms Linked' in Local Applied Universities" and "Transformation, Integration, and Improvement-Practical Exploration of Local Applied Undergraduate Colleges to Build First-Class Undergraduate Education" won the Special Prize of Anhui Province Teaching Achievement. The course "Management" was approved as the first batch of national offline first-class courses. The school was approved for one new agricultural science research and reform practice project of the Ministry of Education, and 54 industry-university cooperation and collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education. There are 20 laboratories and training centers, including 9 provincial demonstration experimental training centers, 3 virtual simulation experimental teaching centers, and 8 college student maker laboratories; 326 off-campus internship and training bases, including 1 national off-campus practical education base for college students and 12 provincial school-enterprise cooperation practical education bases. Since 2016, the school has been approved for 406 quality engineering projects at or above the provincial level, including 26 provincial teaching achievement awards (2 special prizes and 5 first prizes); 370 national-level college student innovation and entrepreneurship training program projects have been approved; in various subject competitions and innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, it has won 320 national awards and 4,640 provincial awards; in the sixth "Internet +" competition, it has won 5 national bronze awards and 135 provincial awards; in the "Challenge Cup" series of events, it has won 8 national awards and 128 provincial awards. The school ranks 282nd in the national general college student competition rankings (undergraduate) from 2016 to 2020, and 26th among similar colleges and universities. The advanced deeds of 2 teachers were selected into the "Study Reader of Excellent Typical Deeds of Teachers' Morality" of Anhui Province. The postdoctoral research workstation and the academician workstation were awarded excellent provincial assessment grades in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Scientific research and social service capabilities have reached a new level. Deepen the in-depth cooperation and integrated development with the Chuzhou Municipal People's Government. The Chuzhou Municipal People's Government and the school signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement to support Chuzhou College to establish Chuzhou University. The school successfully applied for the Ministry of Education's Emergency Management College and signed cooperation agreements with multiple counties (cities and districts). At the same time, the school has established substantive cooperation with large and medium-sized enterprises such as Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Konka Group, and Quanchai Group, which effectively served the local economic and social development. Since 2014, 367 scientific research projects at or above the provincial (ministerial) level have been added. 698 national patents have been approved, including 153 national invention patents, and 8 invention patents have achieved technology transfer. The school has been selected in the top 100 invention patents in Anhui Province for four consecutive years since 2017. The school completed the national pilot project of the reform of the homestead system "Jinzhai County Rural Homestead Survey and Utilization Technology Service Project" with high quality, which was fully affirmed by the Ministry of Land and Resources, and its service capabilities and levels were demonstrated. "Key Technologies and Applications of Real-life Geographic Environment" won the second prize in the first Anhui Provincial University Science and Technology Achievement Transfer and Transformation Competition. The school has explored an innovative service model of sending highly educated or senior professional teachers to serve as "deputy general manager of science and technology" in enterprises. The science and technology funds received have continued to increase significantly, exceeding 63 million yuan in 2021, and the total amount and growth rate are both among the top similar universities in Anhui Province.

New progress has been made in open education. Actively responding to the call of the "Belt and Road Initiative", it has carried out various forms of exchanges and cooperation with universities in the United States, Britain, South Korea, Germany, Australia, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries. Cooperated with Assumption University in Thailand to organize the Ministry of Education's Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate education project in "Electrical Engineering and Automation". Strengthen in-depth cooperation with Taiwanese universities, research institutions and enterprises in talent training, scientific research and academic exchanges, and lead Anhui universities and Taiwanese universities to successfully hold the 8th "Anhui-Taiwan Internet of Things Seminar", becoming an Anhui-Taiwan education exchange and cooperation brand. Strengthen exchanges with well-known domestic application-oriented universities and share resources with application-oriented alliance universities in the province. Co-establish school-enterprise cooperation classes with enterprises, give full play to the role that enterprises should play in the training of applied talents, and achieve full coverage of school-enterprise cooperation classes in secondary colleges.
