Bengbu Medical College

In July 1958, in order to speed up the construction of Anhui and change the situation of lack of medical care and medicine for the people in northern Anhui, the state decided to establish Bengbu Medical College with the assistance of the former Shanghai Second Medical College (now Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine).

The school is now a provincial general medical college in Anhui Province. It is one of the first batch of national units with bachelor's and master's degree awarding authority, the first batch of national pilot universities for excellent physician education and training program, the first batch of national pilot universities for college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program, the first batch of national pilot universities for the reform of the training model of clinical medicine professional master's degree postgraduates, the Ministry of Education's master's degree recommendation university, the first batch of pilot units for comprehensive reform of colleges and universities in Anhui Province, and the Anhui Provincial Academician Workstation and postdoctoral position setting unit. It is a joint training unit for doctoral students of Jinan University and Army Medical University. The school is a national-level innovation and entrepreneurship practice base for college students and a national-level off-campus practice education base for college students, and a pilot university for the "5+3" reform of clinical medicine of the Ministry of Education.

The school is located in Bengbu, an important transportation hub city in the Huaihe River Basin, bordering the Huaihe River, inheriting the spiritual energy of mountains and rivers, and passing on the long-lasting reputation of the medical profession. It currently has Longzihu Campus, Zhihuai Campus, Hongye Campus, Huaishang Campus and Gaotie Campus, covering an area of ​​more than 1,760 acres. It is a garden-style unit and greening model unit in Anhui Province, the first civilized unit of the education system in Anhui Province and the eleventh civilized unit in Anhui Province.

There are currently 4 directly affiliated hospitals, many non-directly affiliated hospitals, and many teaching hospitals, internship hospitals and internship bases. The 4 directly affiliated hospitals undertake the medical service tasks of more than 40 million people in the Huaihe River Basin and northern Anhui, and the service scope radiates Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan, Anhui and other regions.

The school gives full play to the advantages of scientific research talents in colleges and universities and actively serves the local economic and social development. In recent years, the university has undertaken more than 1,000 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial level or above, including more than 60 National Natural Science Foundation projects; won nearly 40 awards at the provincial and ministerial level or above, including 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award; authorized 106 patents, published more than 2,800 papers indexed by SCI, EI, and Medline; edited 13 national planning textbooks, participated in the editing of 42 textbooks, and published and distributed three academic journals, "Journal of Bengbu Medical College", "Chinese Journal of Anatomy and Clinical Practice", and "Chinese General Practice". In recent years, the average annual pass rate of clinical medicine graduates in the National Qualification Examination for Practitioners is nearly 8% higher than the national average pass rate; in 2021, both clinical medicine and nursing won the silver medal in the national finals of the "10th China College Students' Medical Technology and Skills Competition", and advanced to the national finals of the college students' clinical skills competition of higher medical colleges for 7 consecutive years, winning the first prize once, the second prize 4 times, and the third prize twice; won the first national medical imaging professional college students' practical skills competition group special prize, the first national nursing undergraduate clinical skills competition first prize, the first national medical college pharmacy/traditional Chinese medicine professional college students' innovation and entrepreneurship and experimental teaching reform competition first prize and the first prize in the experimental skills competition. In July 2018, the eighth party congress of the school proposed the goal of building a "nationally renowned and first-class high-level medical university".
